My experience here has been with their service department. You will typically find Jeff working behind the service counter. Jeff is always a pleasure to deal with in person or over the phone. It is usually pretty easy to get in for service, even on short notice. I have never had any issues with my bike after service is completed. It is a bit pricey, but I think that is pretty much anywhere you go these days. However, you get what you pay for here. The sales floor doesn't have the biggest selection of street bikes. They typically have a few BMW GS & RT models on the floor, but you will most likely need to order the bike you want. They do have a large selection of KTM dirt bikes on the sales floor if you're looking to get dirty. They also offer a fairly large selection of riding gear for both street and dirt. When having service performed, there is a waiting room on the sales floor. In there, you will find seating, magazines and coffee by Keurig. They have also some cool historical photos of different riders over the year. If you're looking for a quality BMW service provider, CalMoto is great. read more

No wonder these guys have good ratings. I didn't even check the reviews prior to the visit and already felt that the service quality is above and beyond from the phone conversation. Arlie contacted me right next day after the initial quote request online and the numbers was given straightforward without any unnecessary waste of time negotiation. I applied finance online and was approved before I visit the next day and the whole process from the paperwork to drive off the lot was AMAZING! The dealership owner gave me info on many programs that this particular dealership was offering for their customers and handed me gifts that was useful. Jeff was friendly, honest, knowledgeable, and just the kind of service advisor you genuinely trust. Had a terrific experience with him! I went inside to see about trading in the bike I had just serviced. I met Mike, the owner, and the guy was not only cool, but low pressure and very accommodating. Again, the kind of guy that clearly actually cares about the customer! Mike introduced me to a salesperson; Arlie Ray. I generally don't get along with salespeople. I don't like being pressured. That said, I sincerely doubt anyone who has met Arlie Ray has ever had a problem with him. Very cool, very funny, very interesting, low pressure guy. He clearly was more concerned with me getting the right ride than making a sale. He also gave my pup a bowl of water without being asked, which was pretty cool! Like I said, I ended up getting cold feet and decided to keep what I have, but when those feet warm up I will go straight to CalMoto for my next bike. I ordered set of paniers for my BMW F900XR from Calmoto Livermore. It took some time to arrive and was informed at arrival to be installed by owner as a fairly standard process. I picked delivery and tried to install myself but found the parts were incorrect. I informed dealership about issues with install and was clarified it is simple process and ended up retrying another time to which dealership agreed to take a look. I brought paniers and bike to dealership but after an hour of struggle, their technician accepted the parts for installation were older model parts and incorrect for this model. New parts were identified and ordered and took time to arrive. upon arrival few weeks later, I was called to install, we fixed the new paniers but the assembly looked Loosey-Goosey as after few attempts of tightening and re-tightening the paniers were little loose to my attempt to move them around. Anyway, I accepted the way this was and was asked to pay for parts that were ordered. I resisted but was told by owner itself that there was nothing that can be done. this is how everyone pays for their additional parts even though it was BMW parts/order/shipping mistake but they would not take the tab for it. Labor/Cost was adjusted half with me which was still over $100 for basic plastic pieces which would cost 5 bucks if available online. I paid for it and went for first long ride over weekend in rain. during this trip one pannier started to leak in rain water and soaked my clothes and bag entirely. There was 3 inches of water inside the panier. I brought it back to dealership as they said they would fix it first. then they called and said it was not repairable and were going to order a replacement for it. I requested to return it as there were so many issues with it and took so much time for basic assembly. so asked Calmoto very firmly to return this as I dont think it is a good product and parts were flimsy and after so many issues. It took a while to get a reply back, I received the call from owner to pick up new panier as return was not acceptable to owner. I requested in that case a price break. Between Calmoto and BMW this should be addressed as there were multiple levels of issues with this established product and parts and was not acceptable at the cost of what i paid for this. Total cost to me was around 1500. Paniers are still with Calmoto and i have received no additional contact or info on this. Paniers were ordered in 2023 and its going to be year soon and paniers have been with Calmoto all of this time. additionally, i ordered 2nd set of keys for my bike and was faced with similar issues with key delivered late and with issues that it was not programmed and would not work. I picked up key on way back from office (out of way) and it turned out that it was not programmed and had to bring it back and leave it for few weeks. My resolution would be to return this or further discount this because of substandard product, parts and installation experience. read more

Ordered fairing for damaged bike. Never gave me any information on status of order and even whether the fairing was available. After waiting 8 weeks for repair, I decided to cancel the fairing order and take the damaged fairing to a custom painter. When I picked up repaired bike without the fairing the bill included a fairing. They told me the fairing arrived. The refused to provide a full refund and charged me shipping and deducted 25% for a restocking fee which was never disclosed to me. My attorney is pursuing legal action to recover all monies due. Avoid doing business at this place. read more

On 2/3/22 @2pm I rode up on my Vespa to check out the new R18. Walked in on the KTM side and saw two salesman's sitting at their desk on their computers. I walked around and checked out the KTM's and the 1 Vespa. I then walked over to the BMW side of the house and spent another 10 minutes looking at the multiple R18's that were in stock. Saw several staff members talking near the parts area also. All together in the store 15-20 minutes and not one person came up and ask if I needed any assistance or anything. I guess whatever was on their computers was more pressing. I own six other motorcycles and was interested in the new R18 too. Interesting way to do business. Time for me to head over to another dealer. By the way, the service dept is great having service my Triumph & Vespa there multiple times. read more

Been shopping for parts and accessories at Cal Moto for many years now, but have never bought a new motorcycle (in my life, actually). I've always liked the shop and the people here (I've later learned it's a family biz and the employees have mostly all been here for many, many years). They always have had a great selection of parts, accessories, helmets, Klim gear, BMW gear to choose from and browse. Of course 'browsing' all the wonderful BMW's and KTM's is fun too. All the folks here are real helpful and are all truly avid motorcyclist's. Also, once you are customer of ANY KIND (including parts), you are offered to tag along on their monthly "shop rides" which are a glorious day of riding with like minded owners and are always safely put together with riding to fun lunch locations or other interesting places around the greater Bay Area. Anyway, I decided it was time to purchase a new BMW R1250GS and began speaking with their "Adventure Agent," Arlie Ray, about locating one. When we found availability was limited, I dropped down a deposit and ordered just the one I wanted, configured like I wanted (why make compromises on a purchase this large, anyway?). Working with Arlie was really a pleasure while waiting for the factory to accept the order, then eventually moving it into production. Arlie kept me posted on progress and even provided information about the cargo once the bike left the factory. I was able to track the progress as it was loaded onto a ship, arrived on east coast, and eventually loaded to be delivered to California. Lots of fun and kept me busy while thinking about my new bike. While waiting the long time to receive my semi-custom built bike, I would stop in the shop and talk motorcycles with Arlie Ray, David (other sales) and the rest of the team, including the owners Mike and Anya. They were always friendly and truly demonstrated excitement with me for the eventual delivery of my BMW. When the bike arrived, I sat down with Anya and we did the paperwork just as discussed several months prior. No games, no add ons, no BS. Just straight up honesty and right to the deal. OVERALL GREAT EXPERIENCE DEPOSIT TO DELIVERY. Highly recommend this group. Don't hesitate to buy from them. As a returning rider I ordered a KTM Duke 890 R last year from Ken who had great communication and made the sales side a breeze. When the bike was delivered to my residence in Modesto I took it out for a spin and the clutch cable was very loose and wouldn't fully disengage, not sure if it was inspected prior to delivery. During my initial break in period it was clear that I was going to need the KTM lowering kit installed, however, I was advised that the shop cannot complete the work as they do not carry nitrogen. Found that interesting, so they referred me to Unlimited Motorsports in Livermore to complete the job and they gave them a good reference. After waiting almost 6 weeks for completion I picked up the bike and trailered it back to Modesto...glad I did. The bikes rake and trail was offset resulting in a dangerous wobble, misaligned fork compression adjuster, rear shock rebound adjuster set to the wrong side, including numerous nicks, and scratches throughout. Botched work to say the least. Had to reach out to a suspension tuning expert and take it to a local dealership to have the rear shock rebound adjuster flipped over. Come to find out they're not a WP authorized suspension center, so not sure why I was referred there in the first place. Cal Moto will never earn my business again. Very disappointing. read more

I'm totally pleased with the outcome and ongoing relationship between my family and CalMoto. The service manager - Jeff worked with me every step of the way (including the owner of the business). I have a S 1000 RR (2016) with a major engine failure. I was without my bike for 3 months. I'll keep this short because it will do no justice for deep appreciation in trusting CalMoto of Livermore in resurrecting the RR, and putting me back on my bike. I made the right choice and owning up to the fact that the S 1000 RR straight up race replica and that's hands down. There's a commitment that I was faced with and needed to embrace... 1). put $$$ into S 1000 RR fund. 2). S 1000 RR 2015/16, 17, and 2018 is 4th Generation and gettin extended warranty on a 2018 may be the best option (the earlier years call the dealership and or BMW Corp USA). 3). the motor has very expensive$$$, and ultra lightweight parts. Always keep that in the fun factor (race replicas). 4). If you're thinking of possibly upgrading talk to your dealer about mileage. ok - I'm keeping my S 1000 RR, and I have made a commitment, because I really like what I experienced at CalMoto of Livermore read more

We had a great experience working with CalMoto Livermore. My husband recently purchased a (basically) new bike from them at an amazing price. The price was already really great, and they even brought it down a bit more when the purchase was being finalized. We worked with Arlie, and not only is he like crazy knowledgeable about bikes, he was so friendly and patient. We brought our 2 year old daughter with us the two times we visited and he was so kind to her and even let us have some crackers to feed the dog that hangs around there! Arlie never got frustrated or short with us, even when my husband had a lot of questions. My husband was allowed a looonng test ride, like almost too long, so this was another really cool feature about this place. Arlie spent about 20-30 minutes explaining everything about the bike before my husband was able to ride off into the sunset I think he feels great about the prospect of having to go back here for any problems with the bike, since we are fairly certain we'd continue to be treated with respect and patience. As a side note, there's a huge parking lot here, no problems finding parking, especially during COVID times. Jeff the service manager has made it more than clear that I am a nobody and to busy to give a damn about even caring that after finally picking my bike up after over 10k in repairs sent me off on my bike with no back brakes at all. He just stared at me blankly like he had never met me before after returning to have the brakes fixed. There's a weird down vibe happening when you walk in there. The lights are down low, sales people aren't looking to greet customers and don't like to make eye or when they do it's a bit of an interview instead of "how are you today, my name is ____". The Parts counter also won't look up from their computer to say hi. It's as if they have something far more important than a live customer in front of them. My boyfriend was interested in service and said the guy wanted him to just bring the bike in and talking over him instead of listening to what he wanted done and scheduling a mechanic on a specific day. Even after seeing all the posts about the used car salesman attitude at a moto shop BMW that's supposed to be friendly and welcoming to all riders, but this place is not. It's just a shame because in the wealthy tri valley, people want a good reliable BMW/ktm dealer and sadly Michael allows his dealership to be run this way. I had a BMW rep call me about the posts here on Yelp and Cal-Moto and I told them that BMW North America, a man named Derek replaced my bike, NOT MICHAEL. I had to threaten filing a lemon law case against them and they asked me not to so they could fix the bike and use it as a demo bike. Just the fact that they'd take a bike that was marked for the lemon law and use it as a demo means they probably resold it via auction and someone now has the bike and it's issues. I've now purchased 7 BMW motorcycles and I believe 2 or 3 came from this place. Simply because of Bill I will never shop there again and I highly encourage going to another location to get your bike. read more

My husband is the avid bike commuter, living in the SoCal/LA region. And he'd been looking quite sometime for "the" bike. He found it, a 2009 BMW K1300S, in the Lava Orange Metallic, with low mileage, and even some performance pieces, sitting on the floor here at CalMoto. Several telephone calls were exchanged between my husband and Rene, who was more than helpful and this made an excellent case for continuing to do business with them. Rene was true to his word, chasing down requested information and returning calls. But we couldn't fairly make a decision until we actually saw the bike and gave it a test. So we left early for a 6+ hour-one-way drive to Livermore to take a look. It was/is a beautiful bike, in terrific condition. Rene greeted us on arrival, and left us to look around, no pressure. He was available for any and all questions we had about the bike, and Bill was able to discuss with us at length the history of the bike and its care (the previous owner had bought it through them, and had traded it in on a subsequent bike). Needless, a test ride followed, and sealed the deal. When the bike was finalizing prep for sale, we noticed that the tire pressure lamp came on, and were assured that it was not a problem. We were hauling the bike back home in our dually truck, so the guys helped push it up ramps and strap it in. Safe and secure, we headed back south another 6 hours. Upon arrival, we unloaded the bike and gave it a start. The electronics still had not settled down, indicating tire pressure still off and fuel levels wrong. A phone call to Rene was made, to discuss possibilities and a follow-up appointment with our local Irv Seaver's BMW was made to evaluate the problem. It boiled down to a bad battery, which was everyone's initial thought. After the trip to Seaver's, who worked me into their schedule to address the issue, with only a days' notice due to an upcoming business trip, CalMoto reimbursed us for the cost of the battery. Their opinion was that we were to have bought a working bike, and the new battery would assure that condition. Since then, we have had no issues with the bike. We were extremely pleased with our entire purchasing experience with CalMoto. Rene and Bill were extremely helpful. (The pups were completely enthralled with the raccoon tail on my bag, and loved it when we shared our pretzels with them!). Would we return to CalMoto? Definitely. Do we recommend them? These guys started out as a 5 star shop then quickly fell from there. I am tempted to give a1 star but since it was their demo bikes that I rode to make my final decision I give the 2 star. Stopped by to demo a few bikes. Rene was there to help and let me on my way to demo the bikes. Made my decision and dropped a deposit on a bike that was suppose to land in a couple weeks. Couple weeks go by and no word. Had to start being very proactive on getting any update. After lack of response I took my search out to the bay area and found a shop that not only had the bike I wanted but at a significantly lower cost and they were willing to negotiate even further. Rene and Cal Moto were not willing to negotiate on price (I guess they have the market for the east bay for those who don't want to venture to the peninsula). In the end I never heard back on the bike coming in, never got a call back to refund my deposit and had to do a charge back on my account. In the end it was good as I got the bike sooner and about $1500 less than I was willing to spend at Cal Moto and tossed on a set of 50/50 tires for me free of charge. Its too bad as Cal Moto had the sale but lost it due to bad follow up. read more

Started out as a great experience. Quickly went downhill. Came here looking to purchase three Triumphs. Spoke with the sales manager who gave me a solid price for all three. This is important. When the manager says the price of the bike is $8,000 (without tax, license, reg), then that should be the price. When it came down to buying the bikes they decided to finally mention the "fees". I understand there are fees. And not all of them are BS. However, we agreed on a price, and then when it was time for paperwork, they said, "oh yeah, I forgot to mention almost 2k in fees". They'll do what they can to get you in the door and then when you've done your credit check they'll quietly and quickly mention the fees. Deceitful. We ended up getting the bikes elsewhere for a better price (a price CalMoto said would be impossible to attain). Moral of the story: WATCH YOUR OUT THE DOOR PRICE with these slick salesmen. They'll show you a cheap price but slap on thousands in fees. It's downright deceitful. I was emailing Rene about the price of the bikes when i guess he just didn't want to talk with me anymore because he wouldn't respond to my emails. That's just bad customer service. These guys are sketchy salesmen. The kind you want to avoid. They were deliberately deceitful and had an bad attitude when I politely questioned them about the never-before-mentioned fees. That's a red flag right there. Bad customer service, rude, horrible follow up, easily beatable prices. Don't waste your time. Ended up going to ACE Motorsports in concord/walnut creek. They were up front and honest about prices/fees and easily beat CalMoto's prices on all three bikes by a more than decent margin. read more

The best thing about this place is the fact that the building has the ability to turn a potential buyer INVISIBLE! The Triumph sales guy was blabbing on phone to a buddy about a ride they were going on and something about jokingly buying guns. I went in to start the process of purchasing a Bonnie T-100. I was there for about 20 minutes looking at the bike, sitting on it, taking pictures. The salesman with the beard saw me and never asked, from his chair, if I needed help or had any questions. He saw me, I was ten feet from the guy. When somebody wants to drop almost 10k on a new bike and gear, and the lazy sales guy won't even bother to call his buddy later, does not deserve my hard earned dough. Looks like I'll by giving my money to the guys at Munroe Motors in S.F. because apparently Tri Valley Moto has too much and doesn't need anymore. read more
