The worst dealership I've ever dealt with. Several time last I've had issue with this dealership. First time was when my wife bought me a jacket there as a gift. It was to big and when I went back to exchange it, they didn't have my size so I asked to return it. They wanted a 20% restocking fee. I refused since they do not post this anywhere in the dealership. 2nd issue was today. 5 days ago I spent 35 minutes in the phone ordering parts for my bike. I made it very clear on which parts I needed. Explained that my entirety rear fender was shattered and gone. I need the fender, lights and everything that goes with it. They ordered everything except the fender. I have a ride 4 days and without a fender I have no way to mount the rear light or signals. I said to just refund my order. They then insisted on a 20% restocking fee in which I said, nope not on this order, you guys screwed up and not me. Girl told me I was being hostile in which I was not. I never raised my voice or made any threats. I just wanted my money back. Meanwhile there were three dogs on the dealership which 2 were barking and growing at my kids. Will never return back here again. I don't advise anyone to ever visit this dealership. Their service is terrible and so is the return policy. read more

Both the Livermore & Mountain View locations are great. I work in Mountain View & live in Livermore & commute on my K1600gtl every day, rain or shine. The Service team in both locations are EXCELLENT! They squeeze me in, same day appt, to fix my flats or for any emergencies. And they provide loaner bikes, while your bike is being worked on, with NO additional charge! I still can't find an automotive shop that does this. read more

I'm always surprised with how positive most riders are about their experiences there, in an era when bashing business online anonymously has become a national pastime. Customers seem to agree the service is professional and prompt and the sales staff are polite and respectful and are happy to make a great deal. I was in there the other day and was surprised to see customers wandering around, free to ogle the huge selection of bikes without being harassed by pushy salesmen. Let's be real, a new BMW motorcycle is a serious purchase. At least for me, this wasn't something I wanted to do spontaneously. That said, I've been haunting the Tri-Valley Cal Moto BMW store off and on for a few months before I finally made my purchase. Every time I went in there the knowledgeable staff was always very professional, friendly and ready to answer any of my questions or share their experiences. I never once felt pressured or unwelcome in their store. Once I decided to pull the trigger, I was feeling like an expecting father. Fortunately, Rene, Bill and Danny made the whole process super simple and quick. Rene was great at keeping me up to date with time frames and where my machine was. Bill's attention to detail with the paper work was rock solid by making sure everything was as it should be. And once my Special K showed up, it was ready on time looking prettier than the pictures thanks to Danny. Thanks to them I am now the owner of a brand new 30th anniversary 2013 k1300s special edition BMW Motorcycle (My Special K). I had a wonderful experience. I can say I don't like to do that, but I feel I need helping others on my bad experience. It might maybe be because of me but anyway, here it goes; I was ready to purchase a new BMW R1200GS loaded with $5k of accessories. So, I went to the place where my son purchased 2 bikes last year, while they were saying they would take a great care of us! I was dealing with Rene, the same guy as last year. Not only, he kept saying he could not give me a purchase itemized list (totaling nearly $28k) by email neither a window sticker for a bike, BUT he got offended while I mentioned that I did not think that the "great care" they were talking about was equal to 1% on the total purchase, exactly $287 on a third bike in less than a year! I told myself i will never get to that place ever again and started dealing with A&S motorcycle in Sacramento where I received a great customer care :-) read more

For a while I have been thinking about riding again and have been reading about the BMW S1000RR. So a few months ago I called Cal Moto to inquire about a 2015 RR in black and told the person on the phone that I would come in to take a look at it. Well I ended up not going and now after some more thought I decided to pull the trigger. I went to their website and applied for financing for a 2016 RR in black and within a hour or so I got a call from Jose who is one of the salesman from Cal Moto and he told me that I was approved and basically when would I like to come down to pick up the bike. But to cut things short I was very pleased with the purchasing process at Cal Moto along with the service and if you're looking to purchase a new or used BMW, KTM or Triumph motorcycle or dirt bike definitely give them a call. We actually bought a motorcycle here for our son. While we purchasing they were okay. It was after we made the purchase that was very disappointing. The cost for the first service was 10% of the cost of the bike. The invoice was not broken down so we have no idea what was done. We paid it, but will never go back. It is unfortunate, because we were also in the market to buy a BMW. We did go back to look at one because they happen to have the model and color that we wanted. The sales buy talked to my husband who had talked to him 2 days prior when we picked up our son's bike. He did not remember him and asked him the exact same questions he asked the first time. The gentleman that sold us our son's bike did not even acknowledge us. Needless to say...we bought the BMW from another dealer. read more

I follow my husband's (below) comments here and provide a female's prospective. He is right I am uneducated about motorcycles. I mean, i know they have two wheels, go varooom, and they make him happy... and that about sums up my knowledge. I wanted to get my husband something extraordinary for Christmas. He has given me much over the years and this was the least that I could do for him. I first learned of this dealership through a close family friend. This friend, without stepping foot into this dealership, set the meeting up between myself and Rene' in sales. This friend had called several dealerships and selected Tri-Valley Moto for several reasons. One was the responsiveness of the staff. He described what I wanted to accomplish, the budget i wanted to accomplish it with, the timeline of the purchase, and of course the secrecy of the transaction. I was trying to keep this secret from a man I have been married to for nearly two decades. He's a stealthy one and I had to work fast and furious to keep everything off his radar. Let me say that as a woman (I know this sounds sexist, but it is true), I tend to not deal with vehicle or electronic purchases in general. My prior experiences have not been favorable and my husband does a much better job than I. I tend to get sucked into a vortex and and end up purchasing everything including the door mat i wiped my feet on when I hit the door. This sale was a bit different. I entered the dealership without a ton of expectations. The bike had been reserved, in the color desired, for the price in the budget. The staff was aware of the "secret" and all worked hard to keep it that way. The entire transaction took less than an hour and a half. The drive to and from took longer than that. I encountered none of the past transaction horrors. None. No, let me sell you clear coat, let me sell you this that you'll never need, stroke your ego with this or that. None. Simply none. This was simply an outstanding deal. I met with the owner, the finance handler, and Rene', the sales person. Each and every person I spoke with at Tri Valley Moto was kind, professional, and courteous. I just doesn't get better than this. In the end the stealthy one found the insurance card coming through the fax. When he read what the policy covered, I thought he was going to faint. Needless to say elation was kind of an understatement. It is a smile like no other. Yes, it nearly took a village and Tri Valley Moto :-). read more

Patrick help me resolved some warranty issues with my bike. Through out the entire process he kept me informed and explained in detail the work needed to be performed. His technician (which I didn't get a chance meet) did an excellent job with my bike and even cleaned the front rim of the rc390 ( it looked detailed). They also help me correct my gas cap which was misaligned from the factory. I would definitely consider returning if for when future repairs is needed. read more

Alright - I can't speak for others and I'm sorry to hear a few folks had bad experiences at Tri-Valley. That was not my experience at all. I couldn't be happier with these guys. I was in the market for an adventure tourer and stopped by on a break from work to check out Tri Valley. I met up with Rene in the sales department and proceeded to check out the BMW and Triumph options. Rene was great - friendly, no pressure, and down to earth. When I mentioned that I was also interested in learning to ride dirt he even printed out some info on various East Bay dirt riding schools. After this experience I decided on the Triumph Tiger 800xc and living in San Francisco I also went to Munroe Motors to see how they compare. Nothing against Munroe, but at the end of the day I went all the way back to Livermore from SF to buy my Tiger from Rene at Tri Valley. I believe that says it all right there. He worked with me on the pricing and was able to get me the best deal around! I took delivery of my new baby two weeks ago and found it waiting for me with a big "Congratulations" sign on it! They even mounted the aftermarket skid plate I bought elsewhere - no charge. All my options were professionally installed. I signed the paperwork and rode away a happy man. The next day I went on the shop ride with the Tri Valley guys from Mountain View up to Mt. Tam. Awesome group of folks and a great way to break in the new bike. Overall I couldn't be happier with Tri Valley. Rene was great, no pressure from the managers, and the service guys answered all my newbie Triumph questions (I'm an engineer in my daily life). I'll happily be taking my bike back for the 600 mile service soon and have them add the aftermarket Arrow exhaust. So go check them out and decide for yourself. This is for the Service Department... and I have to say I'm impressed. I made an appointment for a 24K-mile service; when I got there, I was taken care of promptly. Here's the best part. Danny the Service Manager went through what the service entailed and offered suggestions for parts replacements. It was a no-pressure up-sale, it was great! I ended up upgrading the chain replacement per his recommendation. His estimated time was also pretty spot on... a couple hours. None of those, "It'll take an hour that turns into a 3-hour stop." because it starts counting after the bike goes in. I understand some people have different experience. But the bottom line is it's an honest business that just want to stay in business for a long time (not just a short-term one like a couple dealerships I know). Human interaction is a matter of how you click with each other. Even though we all know the saying that customer is always right, etc., it doesn't mean anyone should come to a store, demand good service, and feel that the can just put pressure on the stores. The good gesture goes both ways. And you do get better treatment if you treat the people better. read more

My boyfriend and I went in to look at a used BMW. Mind you, because BMW is a luxury brand, I was expecting the service to be exceptional. The salesman's name was Jose and he was AWFUL. After test driving it we realized that we didn't love it but wanted to look at some numbers. On top of waiting 30 minutes for him to come back with the information, when my boyfriend said he didn't like how the numbers looked Jose threw a full on tantrum. He began to say that he wasted his time on us and proceeded to attempt to make us feel bad. Being a female rider I go into the motorcycle world assuming I will be treated like a girl, so I had little expectations when seeking a 2nd moto. From start to finish I felt Tri-Valley Moto treated me like a valued customer. Rene in sales is very personable and honest and genuinely wanted to do everything he could to make my experience of buying a bike a great one. When I determined which bike I wanted (2011 Triumph Daytona 675) I had concerns the bike would need to be lowered, so we scheduled time with Danny (the service manager) to talk about options. Danny was very thorough, listened to my concerns and made suggestions as to what he thought would work best. I'm no "drive it off the showroom floor as is" gal so Danny and Rene spent extra time talking about what upgrades could be done and walked me through everything, including something as simple as a new pipe. The time and attention paid to me was invaluable and I left feeling like I ordered a custom made bike! What I like most about this dealer is their employees have genuine excitement about you getting a new bike. That alone makes me feel like they care about you, and about you being happy. I have been a customer at Tri Valley for several years and I must say that they have been very consistent in their customer service. Several months ago, I placed a deposit for a KTM 350. Renee in Sales was brand new at the time but did a great job in communicating with me regarding the progress of the shipment. When the bike did arrive, I sat on it and it was too high for me. I delayed the purchase for over a week but Renee was extremely patient. I finally decided to not buy the KTM and instead looked into a Triumph Tiger 800XC. Renee was very accommodating and ultimately gave me a very fair price for this new bike as well as my trade in. Upon pickup, Bill (Sales Manager) was very helpful and got me through the paper work like a pro. He didnt try to pressure me towards buying extra stuff that I didnt need and was a straight shooter. This location has a huge showroom with a healthy selection of motorcycles including consignment bikes and accessories. We have bought 28 new cars and 8 new motorcycles in the last 10 years (most of the cars for our small business) My wife wanted to buy me a BMW S1000RR for Christmas. Without my knowledge she worked with Tri Valley Moto. I found out about the deal after it was done as I discovered an insurance card for a new motorcycle in my fax machine :) After the discovery I have learned what Tri Valley Moto has done for my wife and ultimately me. They treated my wife with respect and care. They walked her through the deal, gave her an awesome deal and kept it confidential :) After I had discovered the deal I went to Tri Valley Moto to pick up my new bike. As I stated before I have bought many new bikes. To me the sale is only part of the deal. There is much more of a relationship with a dealership after the sale. Everyone buys parts, accessories and has servicing needs. It is here where Tri Valley Moto excels! The after care has been unbelievable. He followed up but didn't get pushy and he provided clear updates on the status of the bike when I would be ready to order. When I went to pick up the bike Rene and Bill helped me with all the paperwork, had the bike ready to go with my extra parts and got me all ready to enjoy the ride! Buyer beware! These guys are, on first meeting, very cordial and nice. I was looking to aquire a motorcycle for a friend who lived out of state.. The sales guy took me on a great test ride on a demo model they were making available to sell. After the ride we discussed pricing and the sales manager assured me we could make it work, promising a several hundred dollar discount off of their asking price. I recommended that my friend buy the bike. When my friend called to conclude the deal not only did they reneg on the price they had given me, but they then said they would also be adding the dealer freight and prep on top of the price! This made the price more than $1000 more than the price they had originally said they would sell the bike for. Bait and switch artists ... but not very clever ones. My friend ended up with a 1 year newer bike from another dealer, with more options, for more than $1200.00 less. All's well that ends well! Would I ever buy a bike from these guys? Well, I'm sure their hearts are in the right place. There is a gap in import motorcycle services for the East Bay but when I called for a repairs quote they had never heard of our bike (an 80's BMW K model) and did not give a breakdown of their repairs quote. It seemed expensive too. If you have an older BMW bike (70's through early 90's) you should consider taking it to a specialist like Dave Gardner at Recommended Service in San Francisco. He has an intimate understanding of these older bikes and his work is flawless. His prices are also much more affordable than a dealer like Tri-Valley. So if you need a part or want to buy a new bike, use Tri-valley. If you need a repair for an older bike, you should look elsewhere. read more

I'm straddling the fence regarding whether to write a review on Tri-Valley Moto or not, but certainly wanted to recognize the nice lady behind the register, towards the back of the dealership floor, who was very helpful in answering my questions. When she didn't immediately have an answer, she took the time and made the effort to look things up for me or walked across the floor to an item for reference. Great customer service and I thank you. On the flip side, I do have to provide reason of why I am giving the rating that I am, in light of the great customer service I just described. Mind you that the register Is deep, back in the dealership. I walked in and spent a good deal of time looking at the BMWs before heading over to the register; there was a sales guy seated at his desk. Guess it was too much trouble for him to greet a prospective customer and say 'hello' or even 'hi'. I figure one could 'talk and chew gum at the same time' and greet a customer while sitting contently on his ass. Anyway, bad first impression for the dealership. Who knows, maybe the service dept. is great like the lady who helped me, but the first interaction (or lack thereof) at the dealership was the sales guy. The lack of action speaks volumes and overshadows all. Who knows what kind of after-sale customer service you'd get, if any. Bummer cuz the dealership is well stocked and is actually nice, carries BMWs as well as Triumph. I've got a 2010 GS Adventure and a 2010 Triumph Bonneville. This would be 'one-stop- shop for me; especially since I'm looking at a RR1000S and a Daytona. At least he was consistent and didn't even say 'thank you for stopping by'. I'd give only one star, but am compelled to give two for the assistance the lady provided. You made my decision very easy Tri-Valley Moto. Thank you. read more

I will NEVER spend another penny at this place. After what I experienced today and the way I was treated (talked too/yelled at) by a Manager! You should NEVER tell PAYING CUSTOMERS to "check their attitudes" when they're simply asking about pricing. I had a 9:00am appointment. I arrived at approximately 8:55am. My bike sat out front until about 10:00am and it was done at about 11:00am. So, my guess is that they only actually "worked" on my bike for 45 min to 1 hour. Using logic and common sense (which where I went wrong), I thought..."ok, it's only been an hour, assuming the labor rate is $150, plus parts...should be around $175.00" NOPE...$317.05. It was explained that they charge flat rate "menu" pricing for some jobs and their standard labor rate for other jobs. BRAKE FLUID CHANGE/FLUSH - $123.00 + $8.00 parts + $3.00 HAZMAT COOLANT CHANGE - $123.00 + $8.95 parts DIAGNOSTIC CHECK - $49.20 Total - $317.05 Unnamed Manager is basically an unprofessional, egotistical jerk! He's a big dude that tried to physically intimidate me. At this point, I guess it's my fault for expecting a dealership to be reasonably priced, but the unprofessional conduct of the unnamed manager was completely uncalled for. He did calm down towards the end when he saw my cell phone in my hand, probably thought I was recording him. Oh, and when I told him that I would be putting this on yelp...he tried to insult me and tell me that would be very "manly" of me. Well, welcome to 2016 and enjoy my post! UPDATE: I later spoke with another manager who basically stated that's just the way thing go/are. I have never given a bad review before because I think alot of reviewers are chronic complainers and just get off on screwing people, but the experience I had at this place today just bizarre enough I think they deserve a recounting of the experience, might save someone else a bad experience and a bit of money. Been thinking about getting back into biking lately. One of the bikes that caught my eye was the BMW R1200C, just kind of like the unique style of it. But any biker will tell you, it don't matter how good it looks if it don't ride right and I had never ridden one. I kept seeing an ad for one on craigslist, so I called the number and it turned out to be this Tri-valley Moto. The guy on the phone was nice enough, invited me to come on out and test drive it. Had a little extra time one afternoon so I thought I beat the traffic to Livermore from Fremont and check out the bike. Got there and it was a very nice showroom, and I spent a couple of minutes looking at the beautiful new Triumphs and Beamers. Noone approached me for awhile and they were busy with customers so I was cool just looking around till someone was available. When I got to the Beemer section some guy sitting at a desk asked if I was looking for a bike. I said i had called a couple of days earlier and the guy I had talked to on the phone said it wouldn't be a problem to come out and test drive the R1200C. He asked who I had talked to and I said I couldn't remember if he told me his name. He just sat there and didn't respond, so I said "so is it OK to ride the bike?" He said "sure" and then just sat there with a kind of smirk on his face but didn't offer up anything else. After a couple of moments I said, "so I assume you have a loaner helmet I can use to ride". To which he replied "No, you have to have all the equipment". Now there is a couple of problems with that. I haven't had a bike in about 20 years but back in the day all of the 6 bikes i bought I was able to test drive them and the dealers always had equipment you could borrow. I mean generally people who don't currently own a bike aren't going to have biking equipment and it makes sense they are not going to invest hundreds of dollars or much more until they are sure they are going to buy one. Be that as it may to say the least I was a tad irritated as I hadn't even thought I need to invest in equipment just to get a test drive. So I said " I wish he would have told me that on the phone as I drove out from Fremont". To which he said "Who"? At this point I was pretty sure that I wasn't just having a innocent communication problem, this guy was screwing with me intentionally. This was pretty much confirmed when I told him it was the same guy we had just spoke about a couple of seconds ago, to which he said "well I guess it wasn't important enough to you either". I had pretty much had it by then as I have a low tolerance for jerk offs. I said to him "we are done here " and turned around walked out. I could hear him yell after me "get over it". After a couple of minutes of being pissed I definitely got over it. In fact if you think about it seems pretty hilarious that you would put someone in a position where you are suppose to be nice to potential customers so that there is a chance they might by buy your product and instead he goes out of his way to offend them and run them off. Wow, amazing! Anyways within a couple of days ended up at the San Jose Beemer bike store and lo and behold they were friendly and courteous . They let me test drive 6 different bikes (had a loaner helmet and gloves for me, surprise, surprise) and actually acted like they appreciated having me as a potential customer. In fact they talked me into a new bike. Expect to go down and sign on a new K1600 GTL for about 24,000 this weekend. If the guy at Tri Valley would have had half a brain I probably would be buying there. It's probably all for the best as in writing this review I noticed they have a history of this. Very rude sales manager who thinks he knows everything and his system of work is the best. Can't take a simple conversation a simple way. If a sales manager's attitude is "I don't care" it just speaks about him. As a customer I expect that I can go and ask for what works for me and they have the right to accept or deny it but they can't be dis respectful and be full of ego. The customer service of the sale department for this dealer is horrible, bad attitude and rude. Just take one person "Rene Meyer" to ruins a possible sale transaction and a lot of potentials customer. All for a few hundred dollars of profit. See attached email corresponses.... The definition of a customer is one who is loyal, conscientious, durable, and honest....characteristics that we have in spades.
