It was an important part of my upbringing and part of who I am today. The Club was founded in 1964 as a chapter of the National Boys and Girls Club and is the first in the State of Maryland to hold that distinction. They offer soccer, baseball, softball, basketball, cheerleading and my sport, football. You can do recreational leagues or travel leagues (which they did not have when I was coming up), if you so choose. They have some of the best facilities that you can find at any Boys and Girls Club in the area. The ages run from 3 to 16 years old and they have some really good volunteer coaches. The people filling those roles are not just coaches, but they are role models. Their field is located behind the Clinton Library is is a first class field that has a lighted football field with scoreboard, bleachers and elevated announcer's booth. There is also a shelter there with picnic tables under it and more than ample parking available. You will also find 3 softball/baseball fields, some soccer fields and a bunch of green space here too. The grounds are maintained pretty well and the field is closed to vehicle traffic outside of an event or practice occurring there. This is a first class organization and the fees to participate are very reasonable. I highly recommend this Club for kids. It teaches them more than just a sport as it was vital to my development of friendships, and as a person.

So in order to make it to the doctors, it meant 2.5hrs that I had to find care for my child during my work day. Two of my kids arrived to camp with a lollipop (not great i know, but trying to accommodate the 9am pickup with an 8am work start means things slip!) and was told lollipops were not allowed and they didn't have a trashcan to throw it away in! the owner of the camp tried to tell my son to put it on the seat in my car! so i paid $1275 for my three kids to attend camp and they could not accommodate an early pickup, wouldn't throw away a lollipop they wouldn't allow, and they had to stay home today due to potential thunderstorms that so far have not come to fruition. I've had the kids in this camp for 3 years bc I wanted them to have different experiences and they take toddlers, but I'm really frustrated and disappointed in the lack of accommodation and lack of value for the cost. we will certainly not be going back. save your money! there are tons of great camps around that are less expensive and tons of fun with great, accommodating staff.

This is the first time that I was ever on a military base. Came here for a work function and had to…read morego through the whole process to be checked in, cleared, and given an ID. This process feels like you are going through the DMV, but at a faster pace. Just be sure that you have a current (stress current) state ID, insurance card, and car registration. If you do not have the above, you will be turned away. Once you do have the clearance, and ID in hand, you are welcomed to enter the base. However, if your newly printed ID does not work in their own system, the one that just printed it, you will be slow walked at the gate to turn around and reenter the welcome center to see why this is the case. You will come to find out that when you were told at the gate that your ID clearances have been terminated is not true. The ID people tell you to tell the gate that if this happens again to have them call you. Once at the gate again, you will be told by the gate that they do not work in the ID department and they will not be calling, but if they said the ID is working they let you go in. After all that, I had to figure out where I was going, thank god I paid attention to the person granting me access on where to be going. The base is a city unto itself. As it should be since it was designed to be this way. Yes there are golf courses on here, yes this is where Air Force One lands, yes to all the questions about the usual things. But I was amazed at the mall, store, and food available on base. When I say a city unto itself, I mean it. I finally made it to the building I needed to be for the day and did my job duties. Before I knew it, it was time to leave for the day. But as I was making my way back to where I thought I started my day, I got lost within the base. Tip: do not listen to the GPS on your phone, it will keep taking you to 'gates' that are not open. I literally traversed this whole base because I missed one turn. At least I got to see the whole base. In the end, I exited out a gate that I had no intention going to and ended up in some heavy traffic.

I remember coming here back in my college days or something and it sure didn't look like it does now. I stay in the area where the track is. That's what brought me back in the first place. I hate running in the cold. While I hate running on a track that's only .1 of a mile, it's warm and I like the people and equipment here. The track circles all the equipment which includes a really good amount of stationary bikes, treadmills, stair steppers (whatever you call them) and 2 of the things that actually have real stairs like an escalator. Yeah, technical terms here, people. The weight area is legit (free weights too) and they have the boxes for you Crossfit junkies to jump on. Hell, they even post a WOD. Jump ropes are available, medicine balls, mats, etc. and I like the big ol' monkey bars that people use to do pull ups - and occasionally traverse them. I can only traverse them, as pull ups are not my friend. They also have the new basketball court and, apparently, have a racquetball area (which I haven't seen but I've seen peeps with their equipment). They also have spacious locker rooms with lots of lockers, showers, sauna, etc. Kewl equipment, a nice space, and nice people - all for the low price of the hubs' military service? Yeah, LOVE.

Also when you bring up legal affairs they will ( in the same breath) delete camera footage and tell you that you may only direct your concerns to higher up directors because you brought up legal affairs . They lie about involving higher ups when families are upset so that you do not reach out yourself . The directors allow their staff to let new babies cry for long periods of time . They hire idiots that know nothing about the law or how to care for peoples INFANTS. And should be cited for deleting camera footage ,before the 30 day waiting period .

Honestly, the only proper way that I would have trained for this event was through military PT. There was barbed wire, haystacks, mud (or so we thought), cargo nets, more haystacks, a slide, and a bunch of other delightful obstacles. Jessica F. and I decided to take the challenge waiting for us, and we succeeded. We have the medals to prove it (and photos). I never knew that the Warrior Dash was as popular until I arrived at the course that Sunday morning. There were LOADS of people waiting to explore what the course had to offer. The race was definitely loads of fun; I think my running shoes nearly got stuck permanently in the mud near a dozen times. There was one thing that got stuck in the mud permanently, however, and that was my time chip. Not only did I not get a free beer, but I did not even get my official results! Due to this, people think me running in the Warrior Dash is much of an urban legend with the likes of the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot. Screw them though. The only knock that I have on the event, which Christina A. already covered, was the $10 parking, to pretty much park on the grass with a crowded amount of cars. It was a pain trying to get out once the race was done; I was in the middle of a gang of idle automobiles. The ride two hours home was fun though: especially having to cover the driver seat with all plastic. Would I do it all over again? I think I would, but I would need to train better for preparation. Oh, and bring a lot more socks.
