It is off of Pennsylvania Ave., and if you go over the bridge toward the courthouse you have gone too far! There is a small windy road that leads to the center. There are tennis courts a large field, and of course the community center. It is a nice size, with a small gym pool table, etc.. The staff were friendly and helpful. I am so happy that I found it and will be back!

I've been to Oak Mont, Providence, Audrey Moore…read more Amenities: -pool - ranging from 0 to 12 ft deep, has ~10 lanes, during the day though there are often classes or team practice, so best to do lap swimming during the day -locker room - showers, separate family or senior changing rooms (4x) -hot tub -sauna -cardio equipment - treadmill, ellipticals, bikes -indoor track -weight room - dumbbells, machines, squat rack -basketball court/pickleball court -pilates studio - no sure if you have to pay extra but there was a class going on when I looked in -various dance style rooms for classes Where to put your stuff -there are generally a lot of open cubbies throughout the facility -any lockers will require a quarter, you can't use your own lock --wish they would change them to normal lockers -bleachers in the pool area and basketball court -some chairs at the ends of the pool lanes Cleanliness/Overall Experience -dry land (yes I am a swimmer) equipment and areas seem to be pretty clean -swimming - ok if you swim in the early mornings, but lanes are a bit narrow and you will likely have to share. If you are a lap swimmer, it will be tough getting a lane in the evening -locker rooms - eh ok for a public facility like this but expect mold, hair, and other gunk in showers. Definitely lots of room for improvement for shower cleanliness -staff have been warm and helpful -value - their membership does allow you to use all the Fairfax rec centers, so if you do that, then it is a decent value. The Truxtun Park boat ramp is open year round from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m. Two, concrete ramps are available. There is a $5 fee per launch payable via Visa/MasterCard or annual pass only. Once enrolled, easy check-in, so far always greeted. The facility stays clean, the pool, showers, equipment. Love the in-door track above one of the ice-rinks. Stays nice & cool, and sometimes you have skaters to watch while doing laps. . Wife already tried a class & enjoyed it. They release updated schedules regularly. The pool is awesome, only have had to share a lane once. They have a diving board & climbing wall in the deep end. They have a nice shallow area for families. Locker rooms have plenty of lockers, showers. A little short on benches. They also have a climbing wall (not my thing) but the young people seem to love it. They have gym, fitness and other type of classes available. We are looking forward to our first year membership.

Staff members judged me for lifting more than the average person while I was working off of my numbers that will help me improve my strength the layout of the gym is very confusing and there are a lot of ways to make the gyms layout better. Another note is I am all for younger children working out. However, there is no reason for kids that appear to be 10-12 years old using the gym especially when they don't have adult supervision I am shocked that this is allowed as most gyms have an age requirement. Another issue is there are clear and posted gym rules that members seem to take as suggestions, slamming weights on machines, wearing flip flops in the gym etc. if there are gym rules they should be enforced by the staff. The bench press racks are not bolted into the floor and are crooked, the dumbbells are unorganized and the members that pay hard earned money deserve better than what the establishment has to offer.

I used to work in the fitness industry for well over 10 years. In my former career, I was as a personal trainer, group exercise instructor, and also part of the fitness management team. I've been to facilities all over the USA, including South America, Europe and the Caribbean. I have quite the insight about fitness equipment, brands, what motivates people, and so forth. My point is, this modest facility has everything one could possibly need, but without all the overly- pretentious- unecessary-fluff and without the weirdos. They offer plenty of cardio options. The ellipticals were modern, in perfect condition, smooth and well maintained. Treadmills were smooth. Recumbent bikes and spin bikes were available. As I was checking in on yelp, there was a Spin class in progress. Folks were respectful on the indoor track. Interactive sports was a whole vibe! There were several pick-up basketball games happening, like 2 or 3 going on. And folks were talking plenty of smack! I was low-key watching the basketball drama as I was walk-jogging around the indoor track. Totally entertaining and hilarious. It was awesome! 2 Pickleball games were happening as well as volleyball games. In another room there was also a bunch of tables, I think it was a ping-pong room...?? They also offer an indoor skate night. I have no idea what that means or when it happens, lol!! I just saw a bunch of signs for skate rental, and a bunch of racks which housed thick plastic covers for the floor, I guess to make it smooth for indoor skating?? They have a machine weights circuit, a free weight/squat and leg press room, another weight room with dumbbells and other free weight exercise machines. There was an area for group-ex classes, so lighter dumbbells, steps, stretch mats, bands, weighted bars. I used this area to use the hand-held weights, cool down and stretch. And plenty of space on the side of the indoor track to do your own thing. I saw folks practicing volleyball, pickleball, and just independent exercises. This "community center" truly has it all and seriously, competitively compares to other fitness facilities in the area. It may not be as sleek, posh, and modern as your overly-priced $80 - $200 per month facilities, and lacks towel service, steam room, sauna, and locker rooms. However, the equipment is the same! And you have an indoor track, which most gyms do not offer and plenty of social and interactive sports. I came on a Wednesday evening after work, and it was not overly crowded inside. Outside parking was a pinch tricky, but I was able to secure a spot. I enjoyed working out here. I would like to come here once or twice per month, to offset the monotony of my current X-Sport, recently bought out by LA Fitness gym membership that has a lot of run-down, broken equipment for months without repair. It reminds me of going to the campus gym in my college years. Very nostalgic! Anyways...highly recommend.

I'll say it definitely needs to be upgraded. Time is back in the day there, with outdated options for especially young folks. There is good parking here. Before you laugh, Arlington is known for this being a major challenge. For once you can pull in, without a meter or parallel parking! There's some okay basketball hoops here. Also little kids will enjoy the climbing and playground equipment. This is a family friendly place. My hope is they will update it in the near term.
