I received bids from several different Solar installation companies from San Antonio, Austin, and even Dallas. Tony, my sales person was by far the most knowledgeable and professional of all the companies I interacted with. Tony helped me understand what I should be looking for in solar panels, technologies, and what would make most sense financially for our family. When it came to price Cam Solar wasn't the lowest but they had the best value between service and cost. In the end I didn't spend much more for a system installed by Cam Solar than I would have with another company and I feel I received a much much better install. I decided that I wanted to use a technology that Cam Solar had never used before and didn't have much experience with but I had done my own research and felt that the technology would be better for my application. Cam Solar was great in getting up to speed on the technology for me and they are now supporting the technology. I was the first install of power optimizers for Cam Solar and they went out of their way to help me get it and support it. Awesome job! The best part of my experience was the install. The engineers that designed my system are professionals with training and experience designing and maintaining solar systems. They were true professionals and I felt I was in great hands with people that knew what they were doing. Some of the other companies that came out to give me site survey's were clearly minimum wage workers with little experience in the technology of setting up solar systems. They were more trying to figure out how many panels they could get on my roof rather than what would be the most efficient, cost effective solution for my roof. Cam Solar did an incredible job on the install and all the engineers participated in getting the system installed and setup. I was a little worried about cutting into my roof but the install job Cam Solar did was world class and there have been no problems with leaks so far. Cam Solar uses a system for securing panels to the roof that goes way above and beyond city codes. Even the CEO of the company came out to inspect the system. Truly a world class experience. Daniel the CTO of the company was instrumental in helping figure out monitoring issues that came up after the install and he was very engaged and excited about solar technology. He followed up for months after the install to ensure things were running good. My overall experience was great and I would recommend Cam Solar to anyone wanting to install a system. If you want a truly professional experience with people that really care and are passionate about what they do give Cam Solar a call. ****UPDATE***** I had a leak in my roof about 1 year after Cam Solar installed my system right under one of the panels. I wasn't sure if the problem was caused by the panel. I called CAM Solar and they told me to hire whoever I felt comfortable with to come out and look at my roof. The roofer i hired wasn't sure if the panel caused the leak but they patched up the roof. Here is where I would rate CAM Solar higher than any other provider out there. They agreed to come out take the panel off while the roofer fixed it. They came back out to put the panel back on and they payed for the entire roof repair even though it was inconclusive if the panel caused the leak. THIS IS WORLD CLASS SERVICE and this is why you should choose them over anyone else. What other company would pay for a roof problem they may not have caused 1 year after the install? Incredibly dishonest behavior from this company. My solar panels were installed in May 2024, with two inverters. One of them stopped working in about two months. After 8 months of wrangling with them to get it fixed, and 35+ unanswered emails and phone calls, in February 2025, I was told that one of the panels is broken and hence the inverter is not working. They should know better since they installed the panels that allowed for a panel to be dysfunctional without breaking the circuit... In the end I went with a local company that was recommended highly on Yelp and they resolved the issue in a few days. Do not go with CAM Solar. They claim they are short staffed. That might be true. But my experience is that they are also short on customer service, honesty, and ability. read more

On October 8th, Cam Solar received an inverter from Solar Edge Manufacturing without communicating with me. My solar panels have been non-functional for approximately two months, and despite being aware of this, Cam Solar is attempting to charge me an upfront cost without performing any work. I decided to engage another company to service my solar panels, but unfortunately, they are unable to proceed because Cam Solar has the inverter needed to complete the job. Solar Edge will not send another inverter because it was already dispatched to Cam Solar, who are now refusing to return the inverter in question. Do not trust the BBB A+ rating - their rating system does not include complaints posted on the BBB site. I suggest that you review the comments to get a true assessment of CAM SOLAR. If you have an issue, strongly recommend that you file a complaint with BBB so that their rating will eventually reflect the true rating of their business. Do NOT USE CAM SOLAR. I used CAM SOLAR to do my initial install back in 2012 and have had service (pre-covid). Up until this year I have been satisfied. This month (2023) I have been trying to get service for a faulty panel or inverter and there is absolutely NO response from them. I have submitted four requests over the course of about a month with zero response. I started pushing the answering service for another contact number and she hung up on me. read more

I had a panel not producing and it took forever for someone to call me back to set up repairs, they claimed they fixed it but it still doesn't work. These guys were ALL OVER IT when I had my solar installed four years ago. Now, four years later I'm having a problem with my solar and I call the main line. Which is an answering service. Left a message with a barely English speaking lady for a service call. No call back. I called back after three days and left message number two - told the lady that I've already called once and went through the process of leaving another message for a service call. No call back. I called back again after a few more days and told the lady on the phone straightaway that I was upset because I've been ignored and she took my message for a service call. No call back. I had our panels installed several years ago and the sales and installation went great. Now my panels are offline and I can't get anyone to respond to me for service. They were hounding me for a review for years but I didn't feel like I could give one until I needed service. Well, here it is. Garbage. They will sell you something and then just walk away. Literally no way to even contact them. My system has been offline for 4 months, can't even get a response from them. Very disappointed in this company. My solar panels have been out since October 2020 and I just barely received that part i needed to get me operating in January of 2021. You calm that service, I don't think so. Then when I called to ask for a production guarantee or if they could do anything for me to help with me paying double bills no one could offer any assistance. So I was paying the solar panel loan of $100 and my regular CPS bill of $200 a month combined. OUCH!!! $300 a month for 3 months with solar panels, that's not right. Christmas really affected us with these outstanding bills. Very disappointed in the sympathy levels I was offered. I asked to speak to a supervisor and no one would help. I must have called 10 times just to get the ball rolling to fix my panels. Shame, shame, shame.... read more

Brian Cullen (CAM Solar owner) is very unprofessional and disrespectful. I greatly encourage everyone to avoid CAM Solar. They do not take responsibility for their work and offer a terrible work. I got some solar panels installed in my house by CAM Solar in June 2020. In May 2021 after a storm, ALL THE SOLAR PANELS FLEE AWAY. Yes that is correct! The solar panels flew from the room of the house causing damage to neighbor's property and my property. Whenever I tried calling Mr. Cullen so we can figure something out about this matter, at first he said he was going to help, but then he started saying this was not his problem and expected me to continue paying for a service I no longer had. Months later, Brian Cullen stopped answering my calls and also stopped answering my emails. After showing him all the pictures of the damages his company's poor job had caused, he started saying a storm never happened in my area. I then had to send him news articles about the storm, and even then, he still wanted to charge me for a service I no longer had. read more

I met Carl through a neighborhood discussion board, when I asked if anyone had installed solar panels. Carl told me about CAM Solar, and offered to meet to discuss the ROI for installing n my house. It was a no-brainer, since he quickly showed me the data, as well as explained how the city credits and the federal incentives work. When I spur-of-the-moment needed to change the install dates, Carl coordinated everything, making sure everything went smoothly. I appreciate his quick response and no-pressure conversations about solar energy. I would give five stars, except that I had a misunderstanding with the installers when they showed up. Absolutely no follow through from CAM Solar. Our project has been "in progress" for over 6 months with no end in sight. There have been problems at every single phase, and I have had to be directly involved to keep the project moving along. The most egregious example: I contacted the City of Austin to get a status update when CAM Solar quit returning phone calls and emails. Turns out the City had kicked our rebate application back to CAM a month prior due to problems with they system design, and CAM had done absolutely nothing to resolve. Who knows when CAM would have checked back in had I not followed up with the City myself. More recently, we've had the system on the roof for over a month waiting on permission to operate. Once again, CAM didn't do the paperwork correctly and the City is waiting on corrections from them. Even worse, they submitted corrections, but they simply made the corrections and changed the date on my signature block to make it seem like I had reviewed and signed. Completely unscrupulous business practice and maybe even fraudulent. My advice: find another installer. CAM Solar is unresponsive and unreliable. read more

Tony was great in explaining the entire solar system and options. This allowed me to mix and match the system I thought best fits my need and budget. At no point did I feel pressured into buying their system. I had bids from two other companies and both were high pressure sales pitch. They wanted to cram as many panels onto my roof and did not offer other options. Daniel came out and did the measurements and he was spot on on how many panels would fit where I wanted them on the roof. The install team was very professional and efficient. The electrical wiring looked like it was installed with the house when it was built. I also saw how they attached the rails and how they sealed my roof which eased my concern of leaks in the roof. over all my process took about 4 months, which is only 1 month longer than expected. throughout the whole process I only ran into 1 problem with my installation which caused the month delay, but cam solar took care of it very fast and within a week after my issue, I was getting my panels installed and then 2 weeks later cps showed up to turn my power on and I am now running off solar! I get home from work a few minutes ago to hear this story from softy boyfriend: "somebody knocked on the door around 7p, said they were 'closely connected to CPS' (our local utility company) and they get involved with solar projects that seem not quite right, overpriced, etc.". This sounded hoakey to me, the experienced domestic engineer, and, it got worse. Apparently CAM solar told boyfriend that the company we're under contract with - after extensive research on our part - can't deliver what their comprehensive site survey said our house can accommodate. He gave tips on how to break our contract (interestingly, bad reviews on social media was among top "tips"). He couldn't answer questions about reliability of their panels. He said the company we chose for our project doesn't qualify for the "local presence" rebate that CAM solar does (which is untrue; I've thoroughly researched all the rebates & incentives, as well as product & installer quality, and CPS does indeed consider the company we chose as "local presence", clear as day, on the CPS website). He was pushy to come back to talk more about this project, and my advice for him is to learn what the clearly displayed "no soliciting" signs outside our development mean. My impression of CAM solar is that they're predatory bottom-feeders, and my guess is they learned of our project from scouring building/construction permits. Depending on my energy level, I may file a complaint with whomever investigates shady business practices. Before that, though, boyfriend will be retrained on not opening the door for strangers. read more

I called to let them know that their Facebook ad manager was being rude to people commenting on their Facebook posts and it was running off potential customers like myself. The owner called back from his personal number and accused me of being a "hardcore conservative"! He continously said this and accused me of being against solar! Even thought I've been in the market lately. I assured him i was not a hard-core conservative and that i was not against solar and I was only trying to make them aware of what the people they hired were doing on Facebook. They don't care at all. He yelled at me, takes over me, interrupted me and wouldn't let me speak much less finish a sentence. Then he hung up on me! Don't use this comment, they're VERY IMMATURE from the president to the Facebook page managers. Dealt with Brian (who i came to find out later is the owner). The process did not move along I requested information and attempted to hire him to do the job. He then did not respond with any help nor any inclination of wanting to communicate with me. After i decided to break ties and go with a contractor who could communicate and get the job done. He then called me names and degraded me for opting to have my repairs done in a timely and efficient manner. Had anything been positive with this experience i would add it but unfortunately this company has shocked me at its customer service and non the less by the owner! Life was o.k. with CamSolar, my system was having an issue they repaired the problem. Fast forward about 18 months and my system is having an issue. I called and CamSolar (Cord Brown, Service Manager) came out to fix it, I was told there would be a service fee of over $100 to cover their cost (system is only 2 years old and under warranty). Well after looking at the system and finding and repairing a problem with their installation they did not charge me. Not two hours later the system was not working again, so I called Cord (he left me his card and told me to call him directly), no answer so I left a message. About three days later I called again and finally got him on the phone, made an appointment and waited. The weather was rainy so when the appointment was near they called and cancelled told me they'd reschedule. Well a week or two later they showed up and went to work to figure out why the system was not working. I could not wait around I had other things to do so when I returned they were gone and my system was not working. Cord (Service Manager) called and was leaving a message when I got home and I picked up the phone. He told me that my panels had a ground fault inside the panels and I had to do an insurance claim and that I would have to pay them to continue to diagnose the problem and repair / replace the warrantied panels. He claimed it was from the hail storm that damaged my roof, some 18-20 earlier (even though they worked after the storm, and after CamSolar charged me $6,000 to remove and re-install the panels when my roof was replaced). Now I have a system which costed (before rebates) $22,249.98 ($28,249.98 w/remove and re-install) that does not work. I recommended CamSolar to a number of people who purchased a system, I hope they never have the issues I'm having; I also know I will not recommend them to anyone else and will notify my friends who purchased to be careful. If you are thinking of using CamSolar, I recommend you look elsewhere first. read more

Unlike some of the other well known companies that I interviewed, CAM solar (from salesman to installer) was truly informed about all things solar. It gave me a lot of confidence in their abilities when the answers to my questions were complete and accurate. They were professional from start to finish and very gracious when our build out for the panels was delayed again and again. I am very pleased with my experience with solar over the last 6 months. I took a little over one year to research and try to understand the pros and cons of going with solar. I reviewed around 6 proposals from different local companies. I spent a significant amount of time reading and researching the different articles on the various panels on the market. Most companies pushed select company panels and basically wanted sell me what they thought was best. However, based on my research, I wanted SUNPOWER Panels what I considered the top-of-the-line in warranty and performance. Most were not willing or able to deliver the product I wanted. Overall, CamSolar was by far the best value in terms of cost and service. I appreciate Tony's "BEST PRACTICE" sales approach. Tony was more interested and concerned about educating me the customer A-Z about the pros and cons of the process, equipment and the industry. Tony was always responsive and answered all my questions. Installation process went well overall. Daniel and the install crew were great, professional and responsive to all my questions and concerns.
