The courts are well-maintained, clean, and I always find parking nearby. You can reserve a private court only on Saturdays and Sundays. Additionally, they have a dog park. There seems to be a big-dog and a small-dog side, and the dog park is huge! It's nice watching the dogs socialize and play. The park seems well-maintained, and both humans and dogs seem happy, although I've never observed long enough to see any dog/human drama.

Even the E-Trade Baby plays Pickleball. It's like you can't go 24 hours without hearing someone yammering on about Pickleball. Pickleball pickleball pickleball. You're thinking, if everyone doesn't shut the hell up about Pickleball I swear I'm gonna punch someone! But they never shut up. And of course, as good as it might feel, you can't just go around punching people. So, you need to find a way to channel that aggression in a positive way. If you feel you need to whack the hell out of something, Pickleball might just be the activity you are looking for. Strange that Pickleball might be both the cause of and solution for your frustration. Of course there's much more to the game than just whacking a ball with a paddle, but the whacking part is so satisfying. A great way to let off a little steam. Ventura Parks and Recreation offers Introduction to Pickleball classes here at Juanamaria Park. Currently there are Level 1 Introductory classes on Monday nights from 6:30-7:30 pm, and on Tuesdays from 9 to 10 am. And there is a Level 2 Introductory class on Thursday mornings from 9-10. The classes run for four weeks at a time, and cost $100 for the four lessons. Legend has it that Tennis was played here at Juanamaria Park back in the olden days. You can still see the lines here that define a tennis court, but I've never seen anyone actually playing tennis. From the size of their huge ass courts, I'm guessing tennis players must've been about 8 or 10 feet tall. Just in case any Jurassic era Tennis players show up, there are signs posted to keep them away from Pickleball players. The division of court time seems equitable, but one wonders why time is blocked out for a game that's not even played anymore. And you know, there's more to Juanamaria Park than just Pickleball and Tennis. There is also a Basketball Court, for example. And there is a huge grass covered field just waiting for someone with a frisbee to show up. Plus they have those cool charcoal grills. Bring some briquettes and something to grill and you could put together a real good time here. There are bathrooms too, but I've never checked them out. I have no idea when they are open or how clean they are. But if I had to guess, I'd say they're pretty well maintained. The whole park seems very well-maintained. Juanamaria Park is where I learned to play Pickleball. It's a great little neighborhood park. I give it my wholehearted recommendation. Mikey C says: Zero Zero Two

Signage off the main drag was appreciated as I turned in easily seeing the sign in advance. Was surprised to see ample parking and grateful that there were spots open. On a Sunday morning at 9am the first lot was almost full but then off to the side there was still plenty more parking spots. Sweet. While I didn't tour the whole park that grounds seemed well kept. This is a nice park and if you are coming to play pickleball or tennis, you won't be disappointed. The courts were nice with clear lines and free of any trash. Liked that they had plenty of space and little benches for those waiting. Pickleball courts had a nice variety of veterans and newbies. I'd definitely come back to play at these courts. AGAPE is the organization that runs the pickleball program here. You can register for any of their…read moreofferings at https://www.agapetennisacademy.com/ In addition to private lessons and league play scheduled throughout the week, AGAPE offers a three house Drill and Play session on Fridays from 9 am to Noon, for only $20. Such a deal! It's three hours of pickleball for the price of two. The three hour session starts with the Coach Meredith demonstrating a particular skill or strategy. Then the Coach circulates and monitors the students practicing the skill, giving direction where necessary. The second half of the session is leveled play. Usually there are 16-24 players. Coach Meredith sets up the games so you are usually playing against players at your level. The Coach is stationed on the teaching court. The games are timed. After ten minutes, the foursome you are playing with rotates to the next court. (You continue playing with the same players, but you mix up the teams). Eventually all the players play on the teaching court and have the benefit of Coach Meredith's feedback. Three hours of pickleball is too much for some people. Accordingly, you can leave any time you want. It's not rare for people leave at the two hour mark. Not me though. LOL. Ima be there for the whole thing. I've done the three hour Drill and Play four or five times now. It's made a huge difference in my play. I get more hits on Fridays than I do all the rest of the week combined. All those extra hits have allowed me to finally make a little progress. In addition to the Drill and Play, I've taken a few private lessons with Coach Meredith. She's really a great coach! I was at this Nike store yesterday with my kids. They were laughing and playing, but they were not…read morebothering anyone, making a mess, or damaging anything. One employee, Lora, said, "I hope one of them falls," not realizing I was their mother and could hear her. That was extremely inappropriate and upsetting. If my children were being too loud or running too much, she could have simply asked me to have them stop. But wishing for a child to fall and possibly hurt themselves simply because they are laughing and having fun is completely unacceptable. Very disappointing behavior from someone representing Nike. I hope management addresses this.

The park is spacious, well maintained, and feels safe, which is huge when you're responsible for little ones. I love that it's easy to spend a long afternoon here without feeling cramped. Plenty of space to run around, sit, relax, and let kids burn off energy. It's one of those parks that's clearly designed with the community in mind. If you're a parent, nanny, or caregiver in Ventura, Camino Real Park is definitely a go-to spot.
