Came in looking for last minute snow gear praying they would have something for us to get, fully knowing our chances would be slim since it's wintertime and everyone has been heading up to the mountains. I was pleasantly surprised to find a wide range of pants and jackets to choose from. We were happily assisted by the friendly team. Chrissy (I think that's her name?)showed me the different sections men/women and what the color tags meant- yellow tags are used items. They have new and gently used items for snowboarding needs and other sports. I was shocked to see jackets for as low as $24 and pants were only $39. We also got some snow boots for an awesome deal. They have some pricey items, too but we were cool with pre-own stuff. Recycle, baby. They have one dressing room and it was open for us to use. Went in with my young son, the two younger gentleman were extremely polite and helpful... however, I got in to a good conversation with the older guy about fishing (my family and I fish EVERYDAY) and he seemed to have the opinion that I didn't know what I was talking about... I needed baseball gear for my son. I know nothing about baseball. I initially went to Ducks sporting goods, it was awful! No one could help us. They didn't have the right size. I left and went to play it again sports. They were AMAZING!!!! Isaac helped us find everything we need, took the time to do all the sizing and guide us. I just joined a co-ed softball team and needed some equipment by tomorrow for our first practice. I was worried about buying brand new cleats and a glove since they wouldn't be broken in. So today I visited Play It Again Sports. I was quickly greeted by Ashley who asked what I was looking for and what my budget was. Right away she went to work pulling items for me. She was extremely knowledgeable about all of the different bats, Ventura league requirements, cleats, mitts, and batting gloves which made this shopping trip a breeze for me! Ashley helped me find a perfectly broken in glove for $30 and a gently used pair of Nike cleats for only $9. I saved money and I'm relieved I won't have to struggle with stiff/new gear. After being warmly greeted when walking through the door, I was immediately attended to. The staff was polite, knowledgeable, and quick to provide me answers to my questions. They assessed some used golf clubs and fairly priced them with an option for a check out the door or store credit. There were some Churchill body boarding fins I've been shopping for over the past few months. We were able to make a quick and mutually beneficial arrangement. Anyhow, I came here today for kettle bells and to check out their surfboards. Small store with a decent selection of certain things but lacking stock in others. Edit: I really appreciate the business response and I see that mine was an isolated incident. The owner cares about service, which is cool. Wanted to go here but as I was walking up, even making eye contact with the guy working, he locked the doors. I even had my hand out to open the door. There were other people inside and it was still a couple minutes before closing time, and I knew what I wanted so I would have been really quick. I would have understood if it was actually closing time. He just went back to chatting up what looked like other employees or friends. There are lots of other local businesses that like to promote a sense of community that gives Ventura charm. Play it Again should keep that in mind. read more

I really like this place. They have some cool used and new equipment. You will find everything and anything you need to be able to workout at home. I've purchased dumbbell sets and kettle bells (at reasonable prices- cheaper than anywhere else). I also bought a treadmill and I really like it! They have sports stuff, camping stuff you name it anything related to being active. They have great customer service. They answer all my questions and actually have educated me on a lot of equipment options. The cool thing is that they don't push for sales. I've never felt pressured to buy something I didn't want. The workers seem passionate about fitness and love talking about the stuff they have there. Give them your email to sign up for their newsletters and they send the occasional coupon. So before you go anywhere else for your fitness equipment check them out first. read more

Really nice store. I came here for my son's soccer league. They had a nice bundle with a soccer ball, shinguards and cleats for 29.99. Not too bad considering the cleats are 19.99 alone. They have tons of sports equipment, water activities equipment (surfboard, kayak, etc.) The cool part was they had vintage sporting gear. It's a bit pricey for some thing like the kayaks and beach cruisers. Oh you can sell back your stuff you don't use. I may go bring my old workout equipment I haven't used in ages. read more

A story of hope.. my carbon fiber road bike was recently stolen and the thief decided it would be a good idea to take and sell it it to Play It Again Sports. They did buy my bike, took fingerprints and license info from the seller. The manager Nate scanned Craig's List and found a posting that my bike was stolen and saw the picture matched the bike he just purchased. He contacted me and arranged the return bike to me and the pass off of fingerprint and address info to the police. They could have very easily just resold the bike for a hefty profit. Nice to see that ethics in business still exist. Major kudos to Nate and the staff at Play it Again Sports! read more

I love this place. This was the only place in Ventura you could buy kettlebells at, and even though they sell them at Target now, this is still the only place to get properly sized KBs in kilos, and the only place to carry the heavy heavy bells. I bought my 40kg (88 lb) bell there. Great staff too. I also am going back for used tennis balls for my dog, 3 for $1. Great deal and my dog loves them. read more

Ok, I should've come up with an idea about this place a long time ago. Its like the craigslist of sporting goods...except you don't have to drive all over the place. You usually get at least 30% off you equipment at this place. Some stuff is even new at a low price. I buy my golf clubs here...my basketballs, my roller hockey stuff. I save so much $$$.
