If you want a great workout no BS and none of the club crus where you have to wear a unitard or a matching outfit this will be your new home...... especially if you're a gym rat.

Talk about a weird place to work out. This combined with her signs all over the gym, not to take the towels. (Gross - like who wants to take the nasty towels that are 15 years old.). On top of that several of my friends and I discovered that she was charging a maintenance fee unbeknownst to any of the members. She had the members' credit card information, and she was going to charge it no matter what, without even telling people. And when friends of ours brought it to her attention, she got completely argumentative, even though she was completely caught in her tangled, web of lies and deceit. I would not recommend this gym to anyone relocating to Fernandina. There are many better options without all the drama.

There's also a room where they have classes like mommy and me, spin class etc. The staffs really nice, and accommodating. I love the hours, night time around 7pm to close is not as busy. The family room has 2 treadmill machines, 1 elliptical, row machine, 2 bikes. Two yoga mats, kettle balls, free weights, ball weights & there's two sections for the children's, 1 years old and younger and then walking toddlers and up. They also have the tv on for the children on Disney channel.

The desk staff seemed courteous and friendly. All in all the facilities are more up to date than many of the gyms, certainly more so than the ones in Norfolk. A short walk from lodging make this ideal for the traveler to Kings Bay if not those permanently assigned as well.

The facility often feels dirty, basic supplies seem to be missing far too often, and overall standards have noticeably declined. It's frustrating to watch a place that was once so well-run fall apart due to poor leadership and lack of attention to the fundamentals. The biggest reason many members keep coming back is the coaching staff. The coaches are knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely care about helping members reach their fitness goals. They continue to do an excellent job despite the challenges around them. Unfortunately, great coaches can only do so much when management isn't maintaining the same level of excellence. It's disappointing to see a studio with so much potential and such a strong coaching team being held back by poor management decisions and declining standards. Unless things change, I can't justify recommending this location.

This was my first time coming to this one since I usually go to the one on base. This place is only good if you want to focus on weights and even then there are not many options. Their pictures on anytimefitness.com shows nice gyms with new machines in large facilities. This one is a very tiny gym with old, rusty, and broken equipment. There were only 3 ellipticals-the first one I tried had a horrible, ear screeching squeak. The 2nd one was stuck on a high resistance so it was impossible to peddle. As for the last one, it moved ok even though the handles for resting arms were broken off. The handles that moved back and forth were extremely dirty and sticky; no doubt it hasn't been washed in a while. They didn't have available disinfectant spray bottles for wiping off sweat so I had to use hand sanitizer on a towel. I was really concerned that there was nobody at the desk the whole time we were there. He said he's never seen anybody that works there. There might have been someone in the back, but I doubt it. If someone were to fall and get seriously injured, they would not be able to get help since it's dead there most of the time. If you're military and need a quick workout at 3 AM, then come here. Otherwise, try and make time for the base gym which is so much better, cleaner, and helpful.

Several of the benches need to have the cushions repaired, that have been torn for a long time. The cleanliness is ok but for the high price, it should be spotless. Many of the patrons could stand a class on gym etiquette. The staff, although nice, could stand some time in the gym. The monthly price is high and for the price it's disappointing but unless you go and joint one of the Country Clubs it's the only place on island.
