Great selection and good prices for film development. Just wish they had repair people.

The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. They usually develop my film within a day or two which is great.

A Masterclass in Customer Service: Jason at Best Buy University Drive…read more It's not often that a visit to a big-box retailer leaves you genuinely impressed -- not just satisfied, but floored. Yet that's exactly what happened during my recent experience at the Best Buy on University Drive, thanks entirely to one exceptional employee: Jason from the Geek Squad. From the moment I walked in with what I knew would be a complicated return, the atmosphere at this location felt competent and welcoming -- something I've come to expect from this store. But what happened next elevated the experience into something altogether rare. Jason, a manager-level team member sporting the telltale black shirt, took charge of my request with a demeanor and expertise that were nothing short of remarkable. My return involved two separate orders, fragmented refunds, and items that needed to be updated and addressed in different systems. Anyone who's ever handled a layered return at a large retailer knows this isn't a five-minute fix -- but Jason never flinched. He approached the entire process with an ease and professionalism that made something complex feel seamless. But what truly set him apart wasn't just his technical mastery -- it was his poise and customer-first demeanor. At no point did I feel like a burden, rushed, or confused. In fact, while juggling my return, Jason simultaneously managed to assist three other customers at checkout without missing a beat. That level of multitasking -- paired with top-tier communication -- is something you simply don't see very often. And just when I thought the experience couldn't get better, Jason took the time to walk me through the benefits of the Total Tech membership. As someone who works in partnerships and national engagement every single day, I can confidently say: Jason is the kind of brand ambassador you want representing your company. His breakdown of the membership's value wasn't pushy or rehearsed -- it was informative, tailored, and rooted in a deep understanding of both the customer's needs and the brand's offering. I signed up on the spot. While my overall experience at this Best Buy location has always been positive -- professional staff, clean layout, and fair pricing -- Jason's level of expertise set a new benchmark. In comparison, many employees seem siloed in their knowledge -- TVs versus computers versus mobile -- which is understandable in a store with such wide inventory. But it does raise concerns when the default response is "someone else handles that." With Jason, there was no pass-the-buck attitude -- just proactive solutions and ownership. This man has reportedly been with the company for eight years, and I would argue he's not just an asset -- he's the standard. If he's not already running the store, he should be. His approach embodies everything customers hope for but rarely experience: knowledge, warmth, agility, and results. If Best Buy is serious about delivering elite customer service, Jason should be at the forefront of their training programs -- because what he delivered today was nothing short of retail excellence. P.S. I may be mistaken, but I believe I also saw Jason performing a security check at one point when I was working with David at the register, just something I observed, this guy is exceptional and I hope Best Buy treat them like he is. He's the type of representative, who provides an experience to the customer that would absolutely ensure the customer is loyal to Best Buy (especially the university Drive location) and I expect to return regularly (as a new home owner and overall new resident to Burlington, NC!)

I…read moreknow this because twice in one month I've ordered something online only to discover the week of that I never actually completed the ordering process, clicked "confirm" or "submit" or what have you. And so I find myself flailing the day before an event without a) a giant cardboard cow cut-out -- or in this case b) a video projector. Panicked, I started pulling up Google searches to see where I could rent one same-day but most of the places I found were parts of larger organizations that weren't locally based and didn't offer same-day delivery. Enter Custom Light & Sound. I phoned them up and spoke with Matt -- sounded youngish, and maybe a little green. Asked me all the right questions though -- how big and how dark is the space, how many people are attending. After he took down my info and told me to pick it up before noon, I had to finally ask him how much it was and what the product was. Turns out, he'd picked something out for me based on my needs that wasn't featured on their website. So, whereas I'd thought the costs for their projectors ranged from $100-200, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my not-on-the-website projector was only $85! I went to pick it up and met Lee at the register. The first words out of his mouth were "21" which is an odd thing to say to someone you've just met. I looked inquisitively at my husband and then back at him. And he expounded: "We only rent to 21 and up." Good Lord, I'm pushing 30. But whatever. Turns out he's best friends with my husband's former college roommate -- so it's okay that he bruised my ego. They called Wayne to come out and check on the equipment before handing it off to me. He was a bit gruff, but did look through everything and assure us it had all the required cables, etc. The credit card machine wasn't working at pick-up so Lee gave us the okay to take it with the promise that we'll pay when we return it. Equipment ran great and interactions with the folks here was overall a positive experience. And don't be fooled by the cramped-looking exterior. Once you enter this little treasure trove, you'll discover it runs deep and is packed to the gills with audio and lighting goodies, plus fun accessories like disco balls and fog machines!

Ist time visitor. Been hearing about this place for a few years. Every time we drove past it on our…read moreroad trip down here to see my in-laws, my husband would make a point to point it out. Well this trip, our friends invited us to join them there. All my husband ever told me about McKay's was that it had books and records and he and this same friend would spend hours and hours and lots of money at their previous location. On the way over, my husband told me I'd probably see lots of things to buy. I seriously doubted him. Told him as much. So at first look I'm thinking "mom & pop, but bigger." I didn't grab a cart. "Ah! I aint buying nothing", I said to myself. I wander. All I see are stickers, and old electronics and I'm like, "Oh, a thrift store"...THEN I SEE IT... ALBUMS! And as if guided by an audiophilic angel, I immediately start filling the lower tier of my friend's shopping cart. Seriously underestimating this place, I eventually had to grab my own cart. I was a woman possessed by the power of the phongraph! I kept trying to force myself to put something, ANYTHING back. I tried but whatever I picked up ended up in the cart. I'd walked away from the albums. I thought I was done! Then I noticed the crates of 45's! BRUH! Within 15 seconds I was cradling 13 of them in my arms. THAT WAS THE FIRST CRATE! This was getting ridiculous. I had to stop. I refused to look thru a second crate. I turned to my husband for help... Surely he could snap me out of this spell... NOPE! He'd wandered off. When I found him he was waist-deep in his own mania. I knew hope was lost when he handed me an 8 track cassette tape! He wanted me to buy everything I'd chosen! I did the mental math. OH MY! OH MYMYMYMY! OK. We've got to be finished, then I noticed a book my friend had pulled. I immediately began lovingly accosting her, begging her to show me where she found this gem! Sadly, it was the only copy. HOWEVER... What she ended up doing was walking me over to Pandora herself, and me being the curious soul I am, took a sledgehammer to her infamous box, happily losing myself in the stacks. When the fog cleared, I had "somehow" acquired two math books and three political novels. In short order the lady on the loudspeaker warned us to bring our selections to the register as they were closing. They close at 10pm. TEN P.M.! WE GOT THERE AT 5:30! How da heck did 4 + hours fly by that fast? Was it a time slip? The Matrix?... THANOS?! All I know is that, here I sit, nearly 5 hrs later, $200 lighter, surrounded by 'all-of-the-things' and as happy as a pig in... Welp, you get the picture! Oh ya bet ya we'll be back!
