The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. They usually develop my film within a day or two which is great.

Thank You for the Great Customer Service!! Visited the business and they have a sign stating only 1 customer/group allowed in at a time. This was due to the extremely small space... no complaints. I'm just Thankful they recognize the Pandemic. They were able to access my computer and get me to my laptop very quickly. I received a call within 2-hours stating that they did everything they could however , my laptop is dead. Good News - They were able to recover all of my files!! A Masterclass in Customer Service: Jason at Best Buy University Drive…read more It's not often that a visit to a big-box retailer leaves you genuinely impressed -- not just satisfied, but floored. Yet that's exactly what happened during my recent experience at the Best Buy on University Drive, thanks entirely to one exceptional employee: Jason from the Geek Squad. From the moment I walked in with what I knew would be a complicated return, the atmosphere at this location felt competent and welcoming -- something I've come to expect from this store. But what happened next elevated the experience into something altogether rare. Jason, a manager-level team member sporting the telltale black shirt, took charge of my request with a demeanor and expertise that were nothing short of remarkable. My return involved two separate orders, fragmented refunds, and items that needed to be updated and addressed in different systems. Anyone who's ever handled a layered return at a large retailer knows this isn't a five-minute fix -- but Jason never flinched. He approached the entire process with an ease and professionalism that made something complex feel seamless. But what truly set him apart wasn't just his technical mastery -- it was his poise and customer-first demeanor. At no point did I feel like a burden, rushed, or confused. In fact, while juggling my return, Jason simultaneously managed to assist three other customers at checkout without missing a beat. That level of multitasking -- paired with top-tier communication -- is something you simply don't see very often. And just when I thought the experience couldn't get better, Jason took the time to walk me through the benefits of the Total Tech membership. As someone who works in partnerships and national engagement every single day, I can confidently say: Jason is the kind of brand ambassador you want representing your company. His breakdown of the membership's value wasn't pushy or rehearsed -- it was informative, tailored, and rooted in a deep understanding of both the customer's needs and the brand's offering. I signed up on the spot. While my overall experience at this Best Buy location has always been positive -- professional staff, clean layout, and fair pricing -- Jason's level of expertise set a new benchmark. In comparison, many employees seem siloed in their knowledge -- TVs versus computers versus mobile -- which is understandable in a store with such wide inventory. But it does raise concerns when the default response is "someone else handles that." With Jason, there was no pass-the-buck attitude -- just proactive solutions and ownership. This man has reportedly been with the company for eight years, and I would argue he's not just an asset -- he's the standard. If he's not already running the store, he should be. His approach embodies everything customers hope for but rarely experience: knowledge, warmth, agility, and results. If Best Buy is serious about delivering elite customer service, Jason should be at the forefront of their training programs -- because what he delivered today was nothing short of retail excellence. P.S. I may be mistaken, but I believe I also saw Jason performing a security check at one point when I was working with David at the register, just something I observed, this guy is exceptional and I hope Best Buy treat them like he is. He's the type of representative, who provides an experience to the customer that would absolutely ensure the customer is loyal to Best Buy (especially the university Drive location) and I expect to return regularly (as a new home owner and overall new resident to Burlington, NC!)

And so I find myself flailing the day before an event without a) a giant cardboard cow cut-out -- or in this case b) a video projector. Panicked, I started pulling up Google searches to see where I could rent one same-day but most of the places I found were parts of larger organizations that weren't locally based and didn't offer same-day delivery. Enter Custom Light & Sound. I phoned them up and spoke with Matt -- sounded youngish, and maybe a little green. Asked me all the right questions though -- how big and how dark is the space, how many people are attending. After he took down my info and told me to pick it up before noon, I had to finally ask him how much it was and what the product was. Turns out, he'd picked something out for me based on my needs that wasn't featured on their website. So, whereas I'd thought the costs for their projectors ranged from $100-200, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my not-on-the-website projector was only $85! I went to pick it up and met Lee at the register. The first words out of his mouth were "21" which is an odd thing to say to someone you've just met. I looked inquisitively at my husband and then back at him. And he expounded: "We only rent to 21 and up." Good Lord, I'm pushing 30. But whatever. Turns out he's best friends with my husband's former college roommate -- so it's okay that he bruised my ego. They called Wayne to come out and check on the equipment before handing it off to me. He was a bit gruff, but did look through everything and assure us it had all the required cables, etc. The credit card machine wasn't working at pick-up so Lee gave us the okay to take it with the promise that we'll pay when we return it. Equipment ran great and interactions with the folks here was overall a positive experience. And don't be fooled by the cramped-looking exterior. Once you enter this little treasure trove, you'll discover it runs deep and is packed to the gills with audio and lighting goodies, plus fun accessories like disco balls and fog machines!

The store is massive and carries used books of every genre, as well as gently-loved puzzles, Funko characters, Squishmallows, toys, vinyl, movies, board games, CDs, video games, etc. It's a really fun place to browse and it has something for just about everyone. The store is organized pretty well considering how much inventory they have. My only complaint as a buyer is that most items are overpriced. For example, a used paperback copy of TJ Klune's House in Cerulean Sea is $17 and a lovely used puzzle I was looking at buying was $15. I would rather support McKay's than big-box stores or Amazon, but in this economy it is also hard to justify spending $5 - $10 more for a used version than I would a new one elsewhere. That being said, every now and then, I find a really good deal at McKay's. I purchased a paperback copy of Less by Andrew Sean Greer for 25 cents, which made my day. Selling books here can be slightly disheartening. I recently took in a stack of 18 books, including a popular hardcover which was being sold in the store for $17 at the time, and I only received $13 in store credit for the entire stack. I am not sure how this compares with other stores that buy used books, but in the future I will probably only sell items that I would have donated anyway so that any store credit, no matter how little, feels like a little bonus.
