Don't know a lot about high-end cameras, so I stopped by and met the owner and we talked for about an hour. I came back the next week and we talked in detail again. I finally settled on a Nikon Z30 based on his suggestions and my budget. it's been an amazing camera. Am I glad I didn't buy it online? 100% First, support your local businesses! It's great there's a company keeping film and camera services alive in N ID. My experience was not so good however. Took in about 25 old B&W negatives for scanning; didn't think I would need to dust them off, assuming scanning tech would do this as one always has to do before printing or whatever. Or at least notice a dust laden image and re-scan it. He didn't. Many scanned images showed lots of debris. Otherwise they were fine; and price, about $1/image very reasonable. So if you're getting negs or slides scanned, clean them off yourself, and confirm with tech that he checks scans for quality and will re-scan if any have surface dirt that needs more attention. read more

A while back I dug out some old photos from the family album. Many were severely faded. Some hand years of creasing or water stains. With little hope I took them to camera coral to see if they could scan them and repair what could be repaired. The next day I got a call that my photos were ready. I opened the small envelope and couldn't believe my eyes. Ever photo looked like it had just been taken. I could never say enough good things about the place. Prices are incredibly reasonable, service is extremely fast and friendly. If you have any photo or photography needs I highly recommend dropping by to see what they can do for you. read more

The Camera Corral is literally the last professional lab in the greater Spokane, CD'a area, that I know of. I should say rephrase, the last professional lab, that does C41-processing with professional care to your scans and negatives. It's sad to see these places fade away, especially with interest in film re surfacing amongst the professionals. The staff are helpful and friendly and communicate well with their clientelle. Their prices for film developing and scanning are also very fare, and a great quality on top of that. I highly recommend them, especially to those interested in dabbling with film. read more

Nice little camera store, and boy did they come in handy. I was traveling to Yellowstone that day, and I realized I'd packed all the wrong lenses, and the shortest focal length I had was 70mm (exactly what you *don't* need to take photos of mountain vistas). I realize they didn't exactly stock it for me personally, but they happened to have a Canon 24mm f/2.8 lens in their used case for $200. It was great, and I turned around and resold it in Seattle for $175 3 days later! Anyway, I dealt with Mike, and he's good people. read more

I purchased a universal camera charger from Camera Corral in October when we were in town for the Idaho vs. BSU game - it was perfect because it allowed me to charge my camera batteries, phone batteries etc. without having to purchase several replacement chargers. unfortunately, one of the little prongs broke off the charger after a few weeks. On our next trip to Idaho in late December for New Years, I stopped into Camera Corral (without the receipt!) and they REPLACED my defective charger for free without any hassle. I live in Coeur d'Alene and have been into this store twice in the past six months. The first time was in February of this year. The gentleman that I dealt with was very rude. He acted like I was taking up his time and that he had better things to do. I decided to give the place another chance and went in there this morning to pick up a family heirloom photo from 1902 that I had dropped off last week to have digitally copied. When I went to pick up the copies today, the original photo was tore into two pieces. I was devastated. Yes, the photo was old, but it was in one piece when I dropped it off and it should have been returned to me in one piece. You are professionals, right? It was obvious to me that very little care was shown to my family heirloom photo. My first clue should have been when the person behind the counter went to find my photo and it was in a stack on the floor. Someone probably walked by and kicked it. The owner was called and was not very empathetic. When I asked if he was still going to charge me full price, he replied that he would take 20% off of my bill. Are you kidding me? Is this how you treat a local customer? Two strikes and you are out, Cameral Corral. I will spend my money elsewhere. read more
