I absolutely love this cute little place! The coffee drinks are amazing and the employees are as sweet and kind as ever! It's a small place but has both tables and couches and outdoor seating usuañ ñy available. It was a great place to go study/do homework and many people meet there just to read the news or relax. Small, family run cafe. The staff is incredibly friendly. We've been going to Cameron Cafe for years. Our two young boys attend Bright Start Learning Center across the street, so every now and then we will go into the Cafe for coffee and bagels. The owner knows us and our boys by name and also knows our usual order. They've got a small play area for kids. I can't say enough nice things about Cameron Cafe. Staff is friendly. Coffee is a nice substitute for Starbucks. I was looking for a nice neighborhood coffee shop and found this gem. Its in a good neighborhood. On a nice day, you can sit out front. Drinks and pastries are superb, atmosphere not so much. Nannies often bring their screaming children here, which is tolerable for a period of time. However, in one instance, a 4-5 yo girl was throwing a temper-tantrum every 5 minutes for over 90 minutes, while the nanny just sat there on her phone. What annoys me more is that the rest of the shop was empty, yet this screaming child was screaming at the top of her lungs less than a foot away from me. I would have moved, but my computer was charging at a near an outlet. I won't be coming back here again. read more

This was my personal experience: I live in Cameron Station and always would pass by the mostly empty cafe. I finally went in and ordered a plain and simple espresso, 2 shots. I paid and then watched, hesitantly, as the "barista" (and I shutter to use the word) just packed the filter holder to the top with preground coffee beans. I knew then and there I would no longer come back. It was a Monday morning, after 10 am, with only two other customers in the cafe! Why would she have the need to have preground coffee beans?!!! Needless to say the expresso SUCKED! It tasted so old with an awful aftertaste. I'm sure the beans were quality, but I know very well that great coffee houses will make one shot of espresso at a time and grind up the beans made to order! I figure if the "barista" cannot do something as basic as an espresso, then me and my coffee loving clan will not be stepping into my local neighborhood cafe any time soon. read more

Good iced coffee. $1.70! Sweet! Rude service. I asked what coffee was brewing and she said "coffee". And I said what kind, and she said "regular". So I said "again, what TYPE of bean?". She finally said "dark Sumatra." She told me they closed in 30min, at 6pm - so early!!. Upon asking for the wifi password, she gave it to me, reminded me about closing again, and went in the back room and turned the wifi off. I'm pretty bummed because I just Moved next door and was looking for my go-to shop. Guess this won't be it! Boo! read more

I can't stress enough how much I like this place. Every time I come here, it seems that everyone has some sort of personal relationship with the owners, which is fantastic. The cafe has a clean and inviting atmosphere, that is just steps from the local park. The coffee is really good, the pastries are okay from what I had some far. I would certainly recommend you stopping by and at least trying it out. read more

I love supporting local mom and pop shops and this place is no exception. The coffee is great, the staff are so incredibly friendly and when they have them, the breakfast burritos are delicious! The only downside is that you often have to wait a bit longer for your drink than you would at other coffee shops. read more

Warning: this review is incredibly biased coming from someone who cannot eat gluten (anything with flour) I'm only giving this place two stars because I had planned for a nice Saturday morning here, eating breakfast and using the wi-fi. After some yelp research, this seemed like the closest place to me that could give me both. It appeared to me that they served omelettes and other breakfast-y foods, not solely pastries and sandwiches. After getting stuck in ridiculous Alexandria traffic, and of course missing the turn, which made it take twice as long to get here (admittedly not Cameron Cafe's fault), I realized that everything they served was far from gluten-free. I don't like to be a pain about this stuff, but typically staff can help out by offering ways to modify (I've eaten many a burger without a bun). The woman at the counter, however, was extremely unhelpful. Not a suggestion, not even a smile. I may have stayed for the coffee if I weren't pretty upset that she obviously didn't care about my business. I can't comment on the food, but I would like to warn future customers with food allergies to just go somewhere else where perhaps they are a bit more friendly or allergy-conscious read more
