Super cute coffee shop! Cozy (a sofa and a table for two), but there is outdoor seating). Staff is exceptionally friendly. Knowledgeable about their coffee and happy to explain it.

Tried out Vía Volcán Coffee Roastery in my continuing exploration of Alexandria coffee shops. Ordered the cortado with oat milk and a chocolate cookie. Sparsely decorated inside but nice and cute. Steady stream of single customers the whole time I was visiting.

This place truly deserves 10 stars. Above and beyond. Oh you haven't been here before? They will give you coffee samples to help you decide what direction you want to go in! This is for the elite coffee drinkers, who truly care about flavors at their core. They do offer syrups vanilla and caramel for sweet coffee drinkers.

Entrance, with a few seats, nice and warm atmosphere.

This mainly a coffee shop, focused on mainly coffee, espressos and your daily dose of caffeine. I ordered a latte with a single shot and it was quite flavorful. Very comfortable, and homey ambiance with the smell of fresh ground coffee beans lingering all over the place.. Service was very polite and housewarming. Bathroom super clean. This place is recommended to come study or a catch up with friends for coffee.

Panamanian coffee shop in old town Alexandria, the staff are nice and if you let them know it's your first visit they'll let you taste test a couple different coffees. The owner gets the coffee straight the farms in Panama. Very delicious flavor, I recommend giving this spot a try. They only have cookies as a food option, the menu is 99% coffee.

This tiny location has a huge heart. Welcoming people, first rate baristas, and high-quality single-source coffee beans. The beans are distinct, even in a latte. I visited September of 2024 - loved it. Returned September 2025, loved it more. Upstairs, you can find a nice little space to enjoy your coffee.

Coffee Shop No. 151 Via Volcán Coffee Old Town Alexandria. VA March 11, 2023; July 19, 2023; February 17, 2024; September 19, 2024 This is my fourth visit to Via Volcan. They were my first experience with a "micro roaster" on March 11, 2023. I met the owner on my first visit. I apologize I don't remember his name, but he did explain why his shop is special. They roast coffee beans that come from their farm in Panama. I remember being very impressed by how easy it was to converse with the gentleman about his passion for his business. Fast forward to September 19, 2024 and the Old Town Alexandria Coffee Trail. There was no way I was going to miss out on a cortado from Via Volcan if I were in the area; so I had to add them to the trail. They once again created a masterful cortado. On this day I spoke to a friendly young lady who brought out two different coffees for me to try along with my cortado; their medium roast Caturra and their Geisha. I very much enjoyed both coffees, but the Geisha stood out to me because of its floral aromas. The shop is small and probably cannot accommodate a large party, but you and a friend could easily enjoy a meetup while sipping on Via Volcan's delicious coffee. They are truly a single origin specialty coffee shop so if you enjoy the flavor of coffee I highly recommend this place. I also want to add their cortado is the cheapest in the area! Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

You can tell this place really knows coffee! I was instantly greeted with a warm welcome and two samples of coffee. The woman who works there was super friendly and the coffee was great! I ended up with an espresso tonic for the warm day which was simply delightful!

This brick & mortar micro-roastery is truly a coffee snob gem. Listen, if you're a real coffee snob and you're tired of seeing specialty lattes hog up the menus of coffee shops, you need to check out Via Volcan. You step inside and there's not a place to sit. There's only one table for the sugar/cream. It's neat and minimalistic, but not the place to go if you want to get work done or catch up with a friend. The menu? Pretty simple with a few options like pour over, drip, americano, cappuccino, and etc. There's no room for flavored lattes here and is truly a coffee snob's dream. The owner also owns his own coffee farm in Panama and he's been growing coffee beans for over 20 years. Currently, Via Volcan is selling two roasts - Panama Caturra (a medium roast) and Panama Geisha (a fruity & floral light roast). Geisha coffee is expensive and a luxury coffee, but worth a try if you want to treat yourself! For $7.75, you get a nice cup of 12 oz. Chemex pour over that is extremely fruity and bold, yet relatively low acidity. It's one of my favorite light roasts of all time. My friend and I both got a Geisha pour over and we both really enjoyed it. The pour over was extremely clean - definitely drink it when it cools down a bit to get more of the flavor profile. Also, it is a bit more diluted in the beginning, but you taste more of the notes as you get closer to the bottom of the cup. I like that you can get the Caturra as a pour over as well for a lower price. I'm definitely trying this the next time I come back. Ended up copping an 8 oz. bag of Geisha coffee for $24. It's expensive, but at least there will be something to look forward to when I wake up in the morning.

Great coffee! Super small inside not the type of place you'd work from. More of a grab and go coffee place :)

By 10:30 am though, there were many more customers and all tables were taken. So come here by 10 am if you want to nab a table. The drinks I had here so far are: - Bluebell espresso soda - brisk, fruity, and refreshing. It has an intriguing complex blend of flavors (jasmine, blamango, coconut). Really unique! - Rose cardy latte (iced with little ice, oat milk) - delightfully sweet and refreshing. It was not too sweet and has light floral tones. Service was very friendly and quick. All the workers looked fairly young and hipster-cool and always had a smile for me!

A busy, hip, modern co-working space with relaxed vibes and coffeehouse tunes. I hate Starbucks as much as the next ALX millennial stay-at-home dog mom DINK, but the ONE thing I applaud is 100% confirmation on whether the customer would like their pastry warmed. Why Del Ray and Old Town coffeeshops don't consistently ask this is a head scratcher. Of all my regular haunts, only Buzz's Bakery gets this right. With 5 folks behind the bar, I hope Hypergoat considers adding this simple inquiry to their spiel while ringing up pastry-ordering customers.

Super cute coffee shop but WOW does it get busy here!…read more They do themed drinks for cherry blossom season which certainly contributes to how busy it was, but the drink quality and food is genuinely quite good. The line went out the door and it took a while to find a free table. Service is very friendly despite how busy they were. It took a long time to get our drinks and food (at least 10+ minutes) but that came at no surprise: we were there during rush hour right as the Cherry Blossom 5K ended with a bunch of hungry runners arriving at the same time, us included. The Strawberries & Cream Matcha Latte was a popular pick. I enjoyed mine but it didn't stand out too much from other strawberry matcha lattes I've had in my life. My friend ordered the Earl Grey Matcha Latte and topped it with lavender foam and this was definitely the way to go. Also tried the sundried tomato and feta sandwich which was a perfect light snack. The hash brown and egg burrito was also delicious but really dense. Ambiance is a 10/10- they hung faux cherry blossoms from the ceiling and also have a positive affirmation wall in the back for people to contribute to.
