I tried Kunafe for the first time almost a decade ago in NYC and it changed my whole perspective on desserts and now ranks in my top 5 best desserts. The last time I had in was in the Middle East in Qatar but it was just okay, so I was glad to learn about Jenin pastry. I stopped by recently and ordered a small selection of their cookies, baklava and a small portion of their house made Kunafe. Everything was delicious but the Kunafe was spectacular. This is now my go-to spot for Kunafe in the DMV. I can't wait to stop by again soon.

Finally, an authentic place to have Knafeh! I've been craving it and wanting to have it at a legit spot. Jenin Pastry serves Palestinian and Middle Eastern sweets. There are so many options to choose from- thankfully, I knew what I wanted, but there aren't labels or prices listed in store. Of course, I got one slice of knafeh. I wanted to try something else too- I got some triangular phyllo pastry filled with cream (unsure of name). Both pastries were delicious, but definitely the knafeh is a must! For these two items, it was about $10. I suggest eating it when fresh, but if at home maybe heat it up for a few seconds and enjoy! Overall, clean shop with delicious Arab pastries and quick service. I will definitely be coming back for more knafeh and trying other things!

I had this delicious Kunafeh from Jenin Pastry. I believe they had two types of Kunafeh - soft (Na'aami) Kunafeh and crunchy (Isanbouli) Kunafeh. I loved the crunchy Kunafeh and would rate it 10/10; it's a must-try. The soft Kunafeh was okay. The place is really beautiful and has variety of middle eastern desserts. Also, it has really small sitting area. I would prefer take out. The place was very busy, but the service was quick.

My favorite middle eastern bakery in this area!! Sometimes we go overboard and order toooo much, but we'll make it last the week, if we can control ourselves. Their kunafa is the best in town. Seriously. And you'll be lucky if you get a fresh piece! It's still delicious to go. We also always get a few pieces of the basbousa. It's perfect - soft, sweet but not too much, and a good size. Love love love love jenin's. We come at least once a month for our fix

Jenin has undergone a full remodeling! For those who knew the place from its red walls days, it's all white on white now! The new look is nice, but one thing that hasn't change is the amazing Palestinian pastries. Everything you eat here is delicious; from Kunafa (cheese pastry), to a baklava in all shapes and sizes. Make sure you try their Turkish coffee; very aromatic!

this is the best place to get knafeh in the nova area!!!! The cheese is perfectly melted, but not too greasy, and the flavor is not too sweet. It can take a while to receive your order since there can be a long wait for the knafeh (every time I went there were several people ahead of me, trying to get the same item lol). However, the owners are always pulling out fresh trays of knafeh it is always worth the wait. There is plenty of seating and they also offer plenty of other snacks. I have tried their macarons and other pastries and they are delicious as well. There is plenty of parking. I highly recommend stopping by!!

Delicious Palestinian desserts! Desserts laid out with no descriptions or prices but staff was helpful with questions. Some other reviews mentioned slow service, I didn't have an issue with the service being slow more so indecisive patrons in front of me. Adding signage might help move these patrons along.

I really enjoyed the sweets here. We got the knafeh to share and it was delicious! There's a few parking spots reserved outside just for this location as well. I'm excited to go back and try other pastries.

If you haven't been here and you're looking for knafeh, this is THE place!! I come here all the time when I'm in the area, sometimes I even drive 1hour and 10 mins from my house to get knafeh here. I am sooo obsessed with it!! They have 2 kinds of knafeh that I have no idea the names but one has a crispy top and one has a more breaded top- I always get the crispy top one, you just cant beat it. They have a variety of Arab pastries, I'm long overdue in trying something other than the knafeh. Last time I came, I believe I spoke with the owner and he was a super nice and cool guy! I believe he's testing recipes for a new pastry which I find amazing! They use quality ingredients and once again, that knafeh never misses for me! Definitely recommend trying Jenin out! P.S.... If you're complaining about pricing, reminder that they make everything fresh in the back with quality ingredients. Think of the people who spend $7 for a small coffee at Starbucks nowadays.

A good assortment of pastries that appear fresh, but the cold service that day put us off. There are no labels or prices listed so we asked for the names and prices of a few items which seemed to annoy the cashier who gave us curt responses with only the prices and not the names of the items. We got the two variations of kunefe ($7 each), some small round cookie-esque items ($1.25/each), and a baklava piece ($2.50). They tasted good. Wish we knew exactly what we got and what some other items were, but we did not feel welcomed and therefore felt pressured to leave. That being said, there were a few customers there who seemed happy with their purchases and to whom the cashier was friendly and the shop is fairly clean and has a few chairs for dining in.

Is there something vegan I can order? Would love to support a Palestinian business.

Hi Thuy, not sure if some of their pastries are vegan, but this place is amazing! The owners very kind, the pastries delicious, and it is in fact a good cause support. It's worth giving them a call.

Finally visited all the Bakeshop locations!…read more As with the other locations this business is just so good! I enjoy the McLovin breakfast sandwiches and wash it down with a New Orleans Style coffee. And then will get a slice of PB Nutella pie to take home and eat later. Eventually I'll try the other items but these three are so good that it's hard to not get them every time I visit!

Surprising customer service and a surprisingly bad cake…read more My daughter wanted a special cake for her 18th birthday. She had her heart set on an almond cake, like the one Whole Foods used to make. I reached out to several local bakeries on Yelp, asking whether anyone could make an 8" toasted almond crème cake with mascarpone icing. Monica from the Bakeshop responded almost immediately and said they could make a 6" version of what I described, but with almond-flavored buttercream instead. I agreed, paid for the cake, and picked it up the following day. That evening, after the candles and singing, we sat down to enjoy the cake. Unfortunately, it was anything but enjoyable. The cake was dense, dry, and tasteless. Aside from a slight sweetness, the icing was virtually flavorless as well. The only thing "almond" about the cake seemed to be the slivered almonds sprinkled on top. It was disappointing for all of us--and, since I was the one who ordered it, a little embarrassing for me. I reached out to Monica and described the problems. She asked me to return the cake so she could "evaluate the product and address the issue before issuing a refund." That wasn't a problem. Despite three of us trying to eat it, we still had about ¾ of the cake left because nobody wanted more than a few bites. Then Monica disappeared. I heard nothing after returning the cake, and my follow-up emails went unanswered. I'm not a baker--and, based on this cake, I'm not entirely convinced the person who made it was either. My suspicion is that they used almond flour instead of wheat flour, perhaps thinking that was how to make an almond-flavored cake. Sadly, as I've learned from watching far too much The Great British Baking Show, almond flour doesn't actually provide the almond flavor most people associate with almond cake, and using too much of it can produce exactly the kind of dense, dry texture we ended up with. A bad cake is one thing. Taking the cake back to "evaluate" it, and then simply ignoring the customer afterward turned a disappointing birthday purchase into a genuinely bad experience.

I really wanted to love this place…read more My family and I chose to come here for Easter because it's dog-friendly -- which felt like the perfect combination for us. They even have a dog menu, and the patio setup is honestly beautiful. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and aesthetically on point. The staff greets you right away, and first impressions were genuinely great. We chose to sit outside on the balcony so my puppy could join us, and that space alone is worth noting -- fire pits going, cozy atmosphere, just really well done. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. We ordered food for all of us, including my daughter and my puppy. My food and my puppy's food came out fairly quickly, but my daughter's meal never arrived. After waiting quite a while, I had to flag down the waiter, only to be told -- after the fact -- that they didn't even have what she ordered. At no point before that did anyone communicate this. So now she has to reorder, and we're waiting all over again while the rest of us are already eating. When her food finally arrives, there's no silverware. Just... dropped off with no thought to the fact that she actually needed utensils to eat. We also ordered lemonade, which was great -- but when the waiter offered to bring more after the issues, it never came. To try and make up for things, they brought out a dessert that looked beautiful, but when we asked what was in it (due to food sensitivities), the waiter had no idea. He eventually came back with an allergy sheet, which felt like an afterthought rather than informed service. At that point, I asked to speak with a manager. Instead, the waiter told me, "I just got out of trouble -- what can I do to make this right?" That response alone was incredibly off-putting and unprofessional. We ultimately just had my daughter's meal removed from the bill and decided to move on. Even my puppy's waffles -- which was one of the things we were most excited about -- came out slightly burnt. Overall, the lack of communication, poor follow-through, and disorganized service completely overshadowed what could have been a great experience. It's disappointing because the space and concept have so much potential. Unfortunately, I can't overlook the service issues.
