This is a family owned business with the upmost care and concern for the children and their safety, health, and well being while there. There are division heads who reach out to you to assure your children are enjoying themselves and address any concerns you may have. Everyone greets you and goes out of their way to offer their assistance if you look lost as you are vising your little ones for the day. The counselors are bright and lively and extremely engaging. As far as the grounds are concerned, up to date and vast with a brand new dining hall, fire pit for smores during overnights, pools and lakes and everything you would want your child to be offered at camp. Everything is so updated, they are always looking to make improvements, and they are always offering whatever the latest in game or in activity is. They are actually ahead of the latest anything!!! They literally leave no stone unturned. Your child's enjoyment is their upmost priority!!! I adore the Breene's, camp owners, and think they are doing a tremendous job. Everyone of you!!!!! Disappointed by how our daughter was treated at Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey - The OVAL Day Camp…read more We enrolled our 5-year-old daughter in Oval Camp this summer, hoping for a structured, enriching experience. Unfortunately, what we experienced instead was disorganization, poor communication, and a lack of empathy. Our daughter had recently been diagnosed with ADHD, we shared this with the camp, along with tools and recommendations from her psychologist. Despite this, we received vague reports about behavioral issues with little detail or follow-up, sometimes sent a day later, making it difficult to support her effectively at home. We were never warned that dismissal was being considered. In fact, just one day before she was removed from camp, we were told she was in great spirits, and we are making a progress. With only three days left in the program, we were asked to pick her up early and told she could not return. What hurt most was how this was handled: she was separated from her group and not given a constructive opportunity to reflect or reintegrate. She didn't understand why she was no longer welcome at a place she enjoyed, and we were left to explain it to her in a way that wouldn't damage her confidence. When we asked for a refund for the three unused days, we were initially told it would not be granted due to behavior-related dismissal. That response, after everything, was incredibly disheartening. An hour later, we received an email saying the refund would be issued but by then, the emotional damage was done. It was too late. We brought our concerns directly to Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey leadership before leaving this review, hoping someone might acknowledge the situation or take steps to address it. No luck on that either. We're not looking for sympathy, just accountability. No 5 year old deserves to be dismissed, especially one who is trying her best and needs understanding, not rejection.

My daughter has attended for 2 summers and loves her time at Pioneer Trails. Archery, tennis, crafts, swimming daily, talent show, science, nature, computers, outdoor games and competitions, indoor facilities for those super hot days, field trips, pizza lunch fridays. It is a big confidence booster and as an added bonus he gets exposure to advanced math concepts he otherwise has not been taught yet. We have only dabbled in the art and animation so far but I am sure game design will be next on the list! BTW, the only parking is street parking but I have never had a problem getting a spot.

Deerkill is by far the best day camp in the Rockland County area. The directors are always developing new programs and bringing in the latest activities for campers of all ages. One of the newest additions to the camp is the climbing wall and zip line. My kids could not get enough of them. My kids are also huge fans of animals and the fact that Deerkill has a pony, and a couple of friendly alpacas is a great plus. Overall, I would recommend Deerkill to anyone that would like to provide their kids with the opportunity to have summers they will never forget making life long friends along the way.
