Needless to say, we weren't sure if he was going to be able to handle camp, let alone Steve & Kate's. Turns out he had a fantastic summer. It's easy to pinpoint the reason too: Janelle, the camp director, and her incredible staff. We really weren't expecting any accommodations, but/and Jenelle and all the counselors quickly realized what my son needed, put some changes in place for him, and connected with him in an amazing way. My son was so happy and he learned that he can fun with less structure, be safe with new people, and make new friends. I'm gushing, I know, but this summer was super-special and I couldn't let it go unnoted.

Thank God my child has a strong sense of self and knows how to verbally and physically defend herself. With that being said, this is not how I want her to spend her summer. Summer camp should be a place where a child relaxes, and not where she develops defensive techniques from verbal and physical attacks. Stay AWAY!!! To the parents of these bullies, DO BETTER. These types of behavior are learned and fostered at home. Update: I met with the Director and Associate Director of the program and they informed me that 2/3 kids that were involved in the incidences were expelled. The last child was 4 year olds and not fully aware of what he was doing. I was happy that the administration did not dismiss what was going on and acted swiftly.

Disappointed by how our daughter was treated at Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey - The OVAL Day Camp…read more We enrolled our 5-year-old daughter in Oval Camp this summer, hoping for a structured, enriching experience. Unfortunately, what we experienced instead was disorganization, poor communication, and a lack of empathy. Our daughter had recently been diagnosed with ADHD, we shared this with the camp, along with tools and recommendations from her psychologist. Despite this, we received vague reports about behavioral issues with little detail or follow-up, sometimes sent a day later, making it difficult to support her effectively at home. We were never warned that dismissal was being considered. In fact, just one day before she was removed from camp, we were told she was in great spirits, and we are making a progress. With only three days left in the program, we were asked to pick her up early and told she could not return. What hurt most was how this was handled: she was separated from her group and not given a constructive opportunity to reflect or reintegrate. She didn't understand why she was no longer welcome at a place she enjoyed, and we were left to explain it to her in a way that wouldn't damage her confidence. When we asked for a refund for the three unused days, we were initially told it would not be granted due to behavior-related dismissal. That response, after everything, was incredibly disheartening. An hour later, we received an email saying the refund would be issued but by then, the emotional damage was done. It was too late. We brought our concerns directly to Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey leadership before leaving this review, hoping someone might acknowledge the situation or take steps to address it. No luck on that either. We're not looking for sympathy, just accountability. No 5 year old deserves to be dismissed, especially one who is trying her best and needs understanding, not rejection.

His classmates were from all different backgrounds and the school really celebrates inclusivity. My son became more open and social and learned so much, it's made the transition to Kindergarten super smooth. He was always excited to go to school! I highly recommend PSA!

As of this June my twin sons are graduates of Park Street Academy (PSA). Without a doubt, PSA is a…read morespecial place that lovingly nurtured the boys while encouraging them to achieve their best. PSA's devoted teachers supported my children throughout a rigorous academic program that included science, math, American Sign Language, social studies and fine arts. Having completed two years at PSA, my children will enter kindergarten this fall knowing they have accomplished developmentally appropriate but challenging tasks. In addition to ensuring that students achieve academic milestones, PSA teaches children to be worldly citizens and considerate members of the community. Their students are aware of a great big world behind their town but they appreciate the opportunities and worth within reach. Procedurally, PSA is an efficient business that effectively handles business matters. Its school policies are reasonable and we appreciated their efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of its students, teachers and staff. PSA and its community of students, parents, teachers and administrators will always be a part of our lives. When I cried at graduation (truth), they were tears of joy that my children were thriving and simply, growing up. But they were also tears of appreciation and gratitude for PSA. Our entire family is prepared for kindergarten and beyond!
