Camp Scotty was the perfect daycare for our Wheaten, Willow. When we signed up, the guy at the front desk explained how they acclimated the dogs to other dogs slowly. When we picked Willow up at the end of the day, she was so tired from what I'm assuming was a lot of fun! We paid for one of the packages for our short stay in Pelham, and the pricing was more than reasonable. They also offered grooming services for which I have no complaints. First off, the smell of this place is atrociously bad. Even when you expect animal smells it's awful. We were promised our dog would be evaluated for day care while being boarded. This never happened, the staff blamed it on a lack of workers, so the dog was kennel kept for a week. We could have done that at his vet, but wanted him out for exercise and socialization. To be told they never even tried was frustrating and a big let down. When we picked the dog up, he literally bolted for the car, like he was telling us he hated it there. First I will say my dog does have a bit of anxiety but she came home feeling very scared after her stay at Camp Scotty. I left her there for a full week and my mom picked her up since I was still out of town. I recently just got back and as I was petting her I noticed she has two really big blisters that are scabbing over on her front armpits (I'm assuming from them putting her harness on too tight and probably pulling her too hard to move her in and out of the cages). I also never got to see my dog on their cameras which I was very upset about and when I called to ask how she was doing they said they would call me back and never did Im also assuming because she wasn't doing well. I can only speak for their grooming service since we haven't used any of the other services here. We bring our two shi tzus here to be groomed and they do an excellent job. We had previously tried several other groomers before trying Camp Scotty and were unhappy with all of them. We drop them off in the morning and after a few hours they are done. It was too stressful on our older dog to leave her all day at a groomer but they seem to get them done fairly quick here. The dogs always look great after their groom. Well I actually hate to write this review... for the simple fact that I have looked for a great groomer for almost 3 years since we moved here... well my search is finally over thank god!!! Camp Scotty did an amazing job on both my girl shitzu's. They were very friendly and attentive when I got there... this place is a groomer/ kennel/ self wash place.. the only service I did was the full groom. And the girls looked so good when we picked them up. And the first time customers get a break. So instead of 60 each I got both done for 60 total!! Great customer service and a heck of a first time discount!!!! I will always bring my girls back here as long as they continue the quality and time as they did today!!! WE WILL NOT USE THIS KENNEL AGAIN, NOR SEND OTHERS TO IT. So my two dogs stayed with Camp Scotty from this Sunday morning until this evening (Wednesday) while I was out of town. One of our dogs is older and not friendly with other dogs, and was separated for their stay. For her I could not find anything wrong other than not being able to see her on the cameras in the kennel, which I will explain later. Our other dog is 2 years old, he is not used to strange and new environments but once acclimated he does well. We set him up for playtime because we want him to be more social and he loves going to the Hoover Dog Park and making new friends there. Today when we picked them up we saw some red flags with our younger dog. and the over all situation. We were informed when we payed that the dogs had run out of food and not been given dinner. We still don't know when that happened because they never called to tell us, and already had consent to feed them the kennel's kibble if need be. When they brought the dogs up to the front, the younger dog was covered in something, at the time unknown. When asked what happened the young woman at the desk said she couldn't even tell he was dirty, so we asked again and her only answer was that it must be dirt from play time. We had not asked them to bathe the dogs because they had gotten a bath a week ago, but had they called to tell us about the state he was in, we would have been more than happy to say yes to a bath because he was so filthy. It was only when we got home that we realized how bad of a shape the younger dog was in. I did a general check on both the dogs for cuts, bruises, etc. and found a small one caked in dirt on the young one and nothing on the older. We are assuming this is also from play time. It was in the car and at home we realized how much they reeked of whatever it was that was all over the younger dog. We realized that one of their bowls was cracked and was dangerous to use and had to throw it out, the other smelled like urine and is soaking over night now along with the younger dog's toys that were with him because they, too we sticky and smelled like pee. So we now know that the young dog is covered in mud and pee, and that we were never contacted about this. Because my dog was brown and no longer white (he is a Brittney) I gave both the dogs a bath. The young dog had 2 baths, one with dog shampoo and the other with dish soap because the grime wouldn't come out of his coat. After their baths I looked them over again and found cut across his inner thigh that had been covered by the mud that he was guarding me from seeing. This makes me so upset, because for where it is and how big it is, I am assuming that he got into a tussle of sorts at play time....and we were never called or told upon pick up. We will be watching for infection over the next few days. Other notes: The whole place smells of feces. When we dropped them off on Sunday, we were strongly told that it was not normal and that there had just been an accident that was being cleaned......the smell was there with the bonus of bleach today. Workers will cuss and yell behind the doors, this happened at drop off after they had taken my dogs because they spilled a mop bucket. The webcams do not always work. They require flash on your computer which adobe no longer has, with an alternative of the ODoggy app, which you have to pay a subscription of $1.99 a day for a minimum of a month in oder to use. If you are on your phone you can see camera stills along the side as thumbnails, but half of them a not working throughout the day. Over all this was a horrible experience, and I wish I had followed my gut reaction and not left my dogs with them. I thought I was over reacting with how I felt because the reviews were all so good, I don't like to leave my dogs with people I don't know, but I now don't believe I was. They have both been so tired since getting home, which is very unlike the younger dog. Never again. read more

They were patient with my dog as he was getting adjusted to this new place and answered any questions I had rather quickly. I took my doodle to his regular place, Camp Scotty. They charge $90 to groom doodles. His old groomer owns a doodle and she knew exactly the cut I wanted. She is no longer with the company, someone new groomed him. What's upsetting is I made it clear I did not want him shaved! They even called me to ask if it was ok to shave a little off the ears because he had a few mats. I was even charged for the bath. I am really hurt and disappointed. read more

The workers at camp Scotty are great! They go out of their way to make sure you and your pup have a good experience. When it was storming and I was picking up my dog, they brought her out to my car so I wouldn't have to get out in the bad weather. Camp Scotty is the only place we trust to care for our dogs when we can't. Everyone I've encountered there has been extremely friendly and super attentive and caring toward our dogs. They treat them wonderfully. When the owner is there he walks out to greet us and helps me inside with the dogs. He always helps me take them to my vehicle when I pick them up too, even when it's pouring outside! They cater to the individual needs of each dog and really get to know each of the dogs personally. They actually let the dogs have FUN and get dirty, but they make sure they go home clean if they've spent a little too much time in the mud. I have 4 schnauzers and have used this groomer for several years. Last week I brought my new 4 month old schnauzer in for her first 'big girl' cut. When I received her back, her chest was so red, raw, and swollen that she squealed when I touched her! Then it began to weep later that evening. When I called the owner he said that she was matted and that it happens. I was appalled! He offered an antiseptic spray, but that's it. Why did they continue? Why didn't they use shears. AND why did he charged me extra because she was difficult. I'm sure if I were being flayed alive I might be 'difficult' too. He did offer to let me pay him $25.00 to bathe her so she calms down for next time she was groomed. Caveat Emptor - buyer BEWARE. read more

Then conveniently was able to buy it at the store that sells dog food and other pet items next door. We just moved to the area but will be using them a lot. Picked our golden doodle up after an out of town trip for 5 days. We have used Camp Scotty on at least three prior occasions and had good service and overall pleasant experience. This time, was unfortunately quite different. When our dog was brought out to us he was caked in mud/dirt. My wife had requested that he have a bath on the day of pick up, but there was evidently no record of this. I took him home because I felt that it was cruel to leave him there after he had already seen me and my daughter. We gave him a bath resulting in a quarter of an inch of dirt built up in the base of our garden tub. I felt that this was excessive and a bit ridiculous to send him home in this condition without even trying to clean him up a bit. I called and asked to speak to a manager/owner and was greated with a large dose of sarcasm by the young lady who answered the phone. She "took my number" and said that the owner would call me to discuss my issue, but I never received a phone call. Not sure my message was ever delivered. I hate to lose what had been a relatively reliable dog boarding place, but will definitely not be going back after this experience. Details and customer service matter!! read more
