The birria is my go-too every where I go, tortilla, cheese, meat ratio was great, I'd even say they were very generous with meat, which I appreciated (and that's rare). The consommé was lacking, which unfortunately can make or break this dish. I perceived it was watered down to go further? Not sure, but the meat barely had the flavor as well, so not sure if this was an isolated batch issue, or just the original recipe. (and a lot of places screw up rice). I love this brand, and frequent their other establishment, so had high hopes. The tomatillo salsa and chunky red salsa were my favorites but they were all tasty in their own right. I ordered the Tacos Americano for an entree. The plate included two tacos and two sides. I chose the "Camp Rice" and "Camp Pickles." The tacos were very good. The flour tortilla had a slight crisp to it without cracking and falling apart. Delicious. The filling was flavorful and cooked well. It was very wet and messy, but it reminded me of something we might have eaten at camp, only much better. The camp rice was both buttery and bright. I wasn't digging the pickled carrots, though. They were roughly-cut chunks. I think I was expecting l shredded carrots or thin carrot sticks, almost like a slaw. The large chunks didn't absorb the pickling very well and I barely noticed it. My husband ordered the beans and I'd wished I'd ordered those instead. My husband got the birria tacos. He said they were the best birria tacos he's ever had. I tried a bite and thought it was tasty but I'm like the only one on the planet who doesn't love birria tacos. My son ordered the birria ramen. I didn't try it but he said was pretty happy with it. The soup reminded me of a soup we might make while camping but elevated and interesting by making it a ramen. I love a brewery and I heard this place had good cheese dip so it felt like a solid choice for happy hour during our stay in Little Rock. I wanted to try some of their beers but I am a ho for micheladas and after GF showed me a photo of theirs, I couldn't resist. This thing is huge. It's in a very large, bulbous glass with an upside down beer bottle that slowly feeds the stuff into the drink. They load on garnishes and the straw even has that delicious red shit the outside. It was SO good and had a really nice kick to it. GF ordered the lava lamp something, basically the combo of pina colada and strawberry margarita. This beverage combo sounds like it should be delicious but I feel like at most places it sucks because they use this over-sugared, artificial, cheap mixer bullshit so for that reason, I tend to avoid it. I tried GF's and it was the best I've had. This one is legit. When asked if she liked it, she responded, "mhm". The dips, yes I left you hanging there for a minute, were fantastic. The cheese/jalapeño was not only the perfect texture (not too thin and held up nicely but just gooey enough) but was amazing in the flavor department as well. The bean dip was thicker and a little chunky with some mix ins like tomatoes and jalapeño slices. This was a little more substantial. The chips were great too, crispy, the perfect thickness, and a really nice amount of salt. The service was pretty good, too. Our server checked in on us numerous times. We also ordered paletas, the boozy ones (of course): I the mai tai and GF the tequila sunrise. As of the other shit we had already ordered wasn't already excellent, these were SENSATIONAL and literally the best part of the whole thing. It was basically like having a creamy ice cream pop that also had alcohol in it. There was some cherry shit inside mine too that was DIVINE. I could eat these all day. My friend and I came here on a Saturday night. The restaurant is in close proximity to the Lost Forty brewery, so we walked over after looking at the menu. We had a short wait to be seated. They have several of the Lost Forty beers on tap. Since we were getting Mexican, I opted for the "Easy Tiger" Mexican lager. We both got ramen. I am a vegetarian, so I got the veggie one. On a weeknight evening in Little Rock, our group found ourselves craving Mexican and a quick search led us to Lost Forty's Camp Taco!! A cute restaurant with retro decorations, straightforward menu, and $5 margaritas- what else could you want?! After being seated, we ordered the salsa trio and bean dip for the table to share with each other. Note that the chips and salsa are not complimentary unlike most Mexican restaurants - Camp Taco is a little more "hipster" or "upscale," so it's an appetizer order. Paired with that, I had the rainbow fish tacos with rice and beans, and a house margarita which are both pictured. Besides the slightly steep prices for what I experienced elsewhere in Arkansas, I have ZERO complaints! The fish was crispy, the veggies on the tacos were fresh, the sauces were the perfect amount of spicy (especially when paired with their tomatillo salsa - yum!!!) Listening to Christmas music and watching the clock behind the bar tick backwards were unique experiences at this Mexican restaurant that made it even more enjoyable. We ordered the Salsa Trio, Bandito Pollo with Frijoles Mixtos and Camp Pickles; and the Mexican Ramen with Slow-Braised Beef. We also ordered a seasonal homemade cocktail that was on point. The house chips that accompanied the Salsa Trio were crisp and hot off the presses. The three salsas included a medium fresh salsa, a Sunsetter Salsa with hot orange habanero peppers, and a medium green salsa containing tomatillos. I liked them all. They were tangy and delicious. Nothing better than fresh salsas and hot chips! My husband had the Bandito Pollo that were tacos containing grilled chile-lime chicken, guacamole, sharp cheddar and jack cheeses, tomato, and bandito sauce (which appeared to be a crema type sauce). He also ordered the Frijoles Mixtos and Camp Pickles. I did not try the tacos but the beans and pickled rainbow carrots were very nice. So the star of the show (to me;)) was the Mexican Ramen with Slow-Braised Beef. OhmygoodnessjustWOW!!!! Such a creative soup with lots of fresh vegetables, luscious broth and mouth-watering beef. I MAY have dreamed of that soup since then....In fact, it's lunch time. I wish I could have some now! I just loved this: they place the meal check inside a campy romance novel. What a scream! I would call Camp Taco a hipster taco experience in Little Rock. This is not the place to go for authentic Mexican tacos, but it is still delicious so it is helpful to know what you are getting into. I think if you come in prepared it will meet your needs. Food wise - I love the tv tray nachos. It is a large serving with fresh and pickled jalapeños. I usually just get it as my meal and have a ton leftover. The restaurant also has a number of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. My friend got the piña colada in a pineapple and really enjoyed it. I would recommend going here and just ordering that for an experience. This restaurant has a cool camp theme. The staff are referred to as counselors, you check is given to you in an old romance book, and it is decorated in a camp site. This place can be found on the outskirts of downtown. There is metered street parking available within a reasonable walking distance. In addition to tacos, they serve salads, ramen, boozey ice cream. They have beer and some very savory cocktails to wash it all down. They have a decent sized dining area with tables and bar seating. They also have a very nice patio area with artificial grass, a stage, and a trailer. They were hosting karaoke on the stage while I was there. Everyone was having a good time, living their best life, and singing thier favorite jam without a care in the world. I just sat at the bar and ordered some hot potatoes while I pondered which cocktail I wanted to partake. I got a couple of their cocktails that included a Lava-Lamp-A-Lada, and a pina colada. This place was great before Yellow Rocket sold out. Not so much now. We went last night. Here's how it went: Rolled up at 8:15. Were told they didn't have clean table outside for us. Had us sit and wait on the couch. Sure. Cleaning a table isn't a big deal, so we'd wait. Fifteen minutes later, I went back to the host stand because they never came back for us. A girl came over and was flustered by the fact that no one took our name down and said "I'll try to help; I only halfway work here." Like. What?? Anyway, she got us seated. They literally had oil dripping off of them and there was a puddle of oil in the pan. Ew. It took 20 minutes to get the guac and I ended up with the vegan "queso." Also ew. I sent that back. We then ordered. We got Mexican pizzas, sauce and jalapeno on the side, double sides of rice. One came correct except with the jalapenos on it. The other was made with the sauce and jalapenos on it and the rice had clearly been reheated, as the top layer was crunchy. I sent the entire thing back to be remade, but at this point it was about 9:45 and they close at 10. So I had the manager make it to go and we finally left at 10:20. Lack beans were excellent, not sure how they season them but they were the best. The white rice was really disappointing and I am not sure why they serve this instead of a Spanish rice concoction.
