A satisfactory location for camping but much more of an "RV Park" than a "campground". Occupancy was around 50% which was within COVID recommendations but especially phenomenal considering the weekend we stayed was 4th of July. Owners are ESPECIALLY STRICT on their 5mph speed limit to the point their employees will wave their arms and chase you down to remind you that, quote; "It's not 10mph, not 7 or even 6mph... The speed limit is 5mph." End quote. When I tried to explain my car was at idle speed he replied "You may need to ride your brakes then." As a father camping with two toddlers I appreciated their concern for safety somewhat but was conflicted when they never wore masks when speaking to campers, ever in the 4 days we stayed. Even when requiring campers to wear masks when entering their office to check-in, buy firewood/ice/etc. Reader beware that their name "Paradise" does not advertise that you must enter through the back alley of a car dealership and you are only separated from the highway by a few feet and an 8ft fence. Had a most unfortunate experience at Camper's Paradise in Grand Haven. The location is awful but we overlooked the fact it is sandwiched between a highway and railroad tracks. What sealed the deal was the absolute rudeness the owners displayed towards me and my family. Had me and my children in tears. The way he spoke in front of my kids, the way she spoke to my dad. Unacceptable. Avoid at all costs. We see now why we got in on such short notice, and why they begged for us to make a good review on their site. read more

One star review is stretching it, this place deserves zero stars. The employees are rude and you feel like you're walking on eggshells the entire time you're here. They even yelled at our Uber driver and pizza delivery guys, saying they were driving too fast. I WISH I would have read these reviews before camping here. I NEVER leave bad reviews because everyone has their moments - good and bad - and thought maybe it was just a bad day for the staff. When I went to write a review and saw almost EXACTLY what I was going to post I was first of all relieved that I wasn't the only one that experienced the same thing, but also mortified that this place is still open. Lady owner ruined my day after sending her posse out to yell at me for going 6 - SIX! - miles per hour in HER campground. She then cut me off before I could get out of the campground and yelled at me to get her point across. I apologized and told her I would do my best to stay under 5mph. She HAD to get the last word in stating, in a very belittling voice, "do you know what a brake is?" and "you see that speedometer?" Rude and super disrespectful. We packed up at 11pm at night just to avoid her in the morning. NEVER going back! Not due to the conditions, but the fact that they watch you like a hawk as if we are teenagers and don't know how to adult. read more

*i guarantee you will fin many reviews like this one either on yelp Facebook or google* I understand enforcing rules but the fact that my friends who where meeting me at the park got kicked out before they even made it in is totally ludicrous, they where going 10mph though the dealership located before the park and that alone is enough to have you thrown out and the lady at the desk acted as if they where going to assault her. The need to work on their costumer service here, very rude and will use any excuse they can find to kick you out. Not to mention it located right next to a free way with nothing but a thin lining of trees between. Not just a little bit, but directly on the side of the freeway and if you were looking for rest and relaxation you will not get it because the noise is unbearable! I would give this place one star if I could. It was so hot that we had to bring our own window AC unit to keep us cool in our tent. This was the the worst camping experience I've ever had! The facilities are not updated or clean. They are disgusting and not maintained at all. The owners of the campground are RUDE! They do not posses one ounce of customer service. Every single one of my family members was rudely yelled at for the silliest things. Absolutely awful. I hate that I have to give this place even one star. Let me preface this review by saving I am not a picky, high maintenance person and have never posted a negative review about any establishment...until now. My friends and I booked here for a long weekend in August 2013. We saw the mixed reviews online, but decided to take the chance. Bad decision. The campground itself is not totally awful. The location is exactly what everyone has said...behind a car dealership parking lot and next to a railroad and highway. It's not pretty, nor quiet. But we expected that. What we did not expect was to be verbally harassed by the owners for literally nothing. We knew to obey the speed limits, tent limit etc... The owner came over to our site in the evening, verbally threatened us, brought other people over to intimidate us, and left us confused why they were yelling at us in the first place. They were rude, aggressive, and threatening. The owners WILL watch over you, ask where you are going, when you will be back, why you have one more person in the car than when you left. It was awful and I would not wish this place on my worst enemy. If you do not believe me, I urge you to look at the google reviews on this place. I would have rather slept on the side of the road (which is basically what you are doing here) than camped here. read more

If you like to have fun, this is absolutely NOT the place for you! They have way too many rules that are unnecessary. The owners are super strict about the speed limit (5 mph) and will wait at the entrance just to yell at you for going a little bit over the speed limit. The price is very high for this campground. People are constantly patrolling the campsites and the owners are always watching you. Music has to be completely turned off by 11 pm. Would not stay here ever again. read more

Stayed here with a few friends and our dogs for two nights. This is a family owned business and the owners/staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They allow 4 non-related people per site, but only one tent per site. Make sure to take this into account if you are staying with friends. The bathrooms were pretty much what you would expect from your standard RV park/camp ground. In terms of other amenities it is very limited with just some very basic kids equipment. The biggest problem is that this campground is located right next to a major highway. You can hear loud 55 mph traffic at all times day and night. On the plus side this is a very affordable campground. If you are looking for low cost camping check it out. If you are looking for a campground with amenities, activitys and nature look elsewhere. read more

This place does not even deserve 1 star. One of our families got kicked out without a warning for going 8mph coming into the campground. We are next to a garbage dump that is suppose to be where their bathrooms are. They do not have full hook up for the trailers. Their bathrooms have no toilet paper and paper towel to dry your hands. Showers are disgusting. Homeless people are walking around at night trying to talk to our kids. Campground is between a highway and railroad track. DO NOT CAMP HERE EVEN IF ITS A LAST RESORT!!!! Cute and quaint. Very clean. Leslie, Cliff, and Kim are wonderful people. This is a very nice place to camp! I highly recommend it. Just make sure you obey the speed limit signs at all times...it's for everyone's safety! Stayed at Campers Paradise for the second straight year. It was a great 4th of July weekend and I couldn't have been happier with our stay. Getting a group of 4 24 yr olds together makes it hard to book a campsite a year out like you need to with the KOAs. We were able to get right in. I grew up going to state parks and I think CP is quite comparable. They have very clean bathrooms and showers. We rode our bikes to the beach and downtown Grand Haven, no sweat. It felt a little weird getting ready In a tent and picked up by a cab to go downtown for the night. But, apparently it isn't that uncommon there and it was a lot of fun. Cliff & Leslie are very "involved" in keeping the place safe... Going 5 mph is quite annoying, but it really does help make it a safe place for kiddos to run around. I think it is more of a family park, but our group had some fun neighbors to play flip cup with. We only got a couple warnings, which was well warranted. Overall, very happy with our visit and will be back next year! read more

Camper's Paradise. Methinks not. Read the one-star reviews. I simply stopped in to visit my daughter who was camping there. I understood that there was a $5 per person entry. As there were four of us in the car I handed the lady my debit card. She explained that the charge was only $1 each. She directed me to the nearest cash machine. I drove back through the car lot and across the street to the machine. While I'm gone the husband rushed to my daughter's campsite and told her I left the drive much too fast and that I would not be allowed to drive back to the campsite because he couldn't trust me. His manner was rude and condescending. My two young grandsons were in tears. My daughter was livid. On my return I crept the 5mph into the campground. I tried to hand the cash to the lady. She lowered her head and said she would'nt take my money. She and her husband couldn't trust me to drive 5mph. I returned to my car and told her that we would not be coming back here again. She told me I should change my attitude. There is a very good reason my daughter was able to book a campsite within 2 miles of a beautiful Lake Michigan beach in the middle of August. In my 69 years I have never encountered such treatment by people in the hospitality industry. I do see three and five star reviews from July 4th weekend of this year. These guests were lucky. If I could give this campground negative stars I would! I was here on business and followed all the rules to a t. However apparently I was going to fast coming in one afternoon. The speed sign says 5 I was doing 7 how they knew I have no idea! As soon as I realized 50 feet into the campground I slowed down to 5. I went on to apologize as the helper on a golf cart prolly did 8 just to catch me chased me all the way to the camp site. He called me "naughty" a little weird!! The owners wanted me to leave my truck outside the campground and walk back to my camp site. First that's a liability on them and two I'm not a kid I'm grown adult! And on top of that the owner hid in her little trailer house and made her worker do all the dirty work! They told me I had to be out at 7 this is at 650 or they would call the cops. Are you kidding me! I do everything to be very respectable and caring when I visit a campground. I travel year around and I've truly not seen anything like it. They kicked me out with two nights left and refused to give me a refund. I truly wanna tell anyone wanting to stay here do not!! They are on a power trip and will treat you like you are 13 even if your being respectable! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! read more

Great location if you want to frequent the beach. Close to everything. Bathrooms are very clean and the staff are great. JUST make sure you drive the speed limit through the park! Where to begin? We got in on short notice, great since it is August in Grand Haven and it is near the beach. Once we drove through a car lot, aka: the park entrance and realized we were between a highway and train tracks we figured that was why the campground was less than 50% full but we figured, oh well. We soon realized the location is actually the lesser reason the park was so empty. The owners are absolutely the rudest I've ever encountered. He berated me immediately about the speed limit before I had even entered the park, right after complaining that he'd have to check us in since his wife was, "nowhere to be found." His wife was kind when I bought wood, but also claimed another guest was "weird" because after they pulled in, they decided not to stay. After an incident involving $5 and a lack of a card reader, the woman chased down my 69 year old father to tell him he needed to change his attitude while the man rushed to our site in his golf cart to tell me, in front of my kids, that their Papa was not welcome in the park, he'd have to park in front and walk and, " is he CAPABALE of THAT?" He also asked if I understood, in such a condescending manner you'd think I must have been incompetent. After my kids and I were in tears, we decided it was time to leave. Mind you, the night before he came to our site asking us to leave good reviews. The pros to this campground? Our site had adequate shade, though there was a wasp nest in the shade tree. The bathrooms smelled of fresh paint and seemed clean though there were no paper towels or hand dryers. I wish we had seen the reviews before we went, they're spot on. read more

From the min we pulled in we were treated awful. We drove in too fast...there were so many signs i did not notice the 5mphsame sign until the person ran out and said that was our only warnig...if we didnt go 5mphto or less again we would be evicted! the showers were not private (no lock), the playground was unsafe for kids with peeling paint and deteriorating wood with splinter possibilities on them. WORST PLACE EVER!!!! I do not recommend this place AT ALL!!! Staff was extremely rude from the moment we checked in!!! The lady from the front desk sat on a chair being a "radar" herself telling me I was speeding thought the camp where my speedometer was at 4mph!!!! I asked how she knew I was speeding she said she knows because she sees it a lot lol. Stupid right? Told me that next time I speed we would get evicted. I think it's their scheme to make money. They also gave us the wrong site number and after about 5 hours when we were already set up and our 2 year old was napping in the tent, they came and told us to move to a different site or else we would get evicted!!! Bad, stay away. 5 mph speed limit. If they think you are speeding or don't come to COMPLETE stop at their stop signs, they will catch you on golf cart and give you a tongue lashing. Train 100 feet to west. Highway 100 feet to east. No onsite sewer. Pool has been cemented over. Owners are over controlling and rude. Baths not updated in many years. Want to put the kids in a tent for fun, nope. Must pay for an additional site. $45 plus tax a night, you can do MUCH better. read more

My husband and I arrived at this campground last night to camp for a night or two. We have stayed at this campground twice before and really enjoyed the experience and hospitality of your staff. However, last night we pulled up and found that the office was closed, so we picked up a deposit slip and began to pull out to leave for an ATM. After turning around the bend we saw the woman who works there walking to the office, so we pulled back around to the office to register. My husband got out of the car, and the woman proceeded to rudely stare at him as if he just commited some kind of crime. She doesn't ask if she can help us, only looks at him and says with disgust, "Do you have any idea how fast you were driving?" He was BARELY going 9mph (which while in the car, he had realized and slowed back down). He then kindly apologized and explained that he briefly forgot that the speed limit is 5mph but had corrected it. So he proceeds to ask about registration, and the owner again looks at us incredulously, rolls her eyes, gives a strained laugh of haughtiness, ignores his question, and visibly debates even letting us stay there at all after committing such an atrocious offense. She then painfully says, "You know........" (My husband and I are looking at each other at this point trying to decide if this is really happening and she's really being this awful or if we're imagining it)... "I'll let you stay, but you're gonna have to park outside the park and walk in. You're not gonna drive in my park like that! So you will park out there (pointing to the car dealership) and walk your stuff in." (The thing about the speed limit is that if she had simply given a friendly reminder of the speed limit, that would have been completely appropriate and all would have been fine. But instead, she disregarded our sincere apology for accidentally going a blazing 9mph, and clearly wanted to throw us out right then and there. Note that the campground was mostly empty and there were no kids anywhere in sight.) My husband is in disbelief at this point and out of habit, because he is a decent human being unlike this woman, takes her unbelievable rudeness with grace and says, "OK, have a good night," and gets back in the car. We immediately decided that we would much rather go stay at a hotel for the night than ever give this campground another cent of our money again after that encounter. And that is unfortunate because the man that works there who we've dealt with in the past was always kind and welcoming. But because of her witchy demeanor towards us, we will never give this campground our business again, and I don't think she'll be upset about that because customer service and hospitality are clearly not her forte. read more

Get what you pay for. I concur the owners are rude from the minute we pulled up to the gate. Located between highway and railroad which was not overly bad as traffic diminished at night and no trains at night so one could sleep. No amenities. Wifi was 1-2 bars but enough to read email. Bathrooms old but husband said they were clean . Play area for kids very shabby. Nice shaded lots with good picnic tables. But the worst part is the male owner. Speed limit is 5mph which is nigh to impossible to maintain. I tap my gas peddle and let off to keep it between 5-7 mph. As I was leaving, the owner literally charged my car with his golf cart exceeding the posted limit. Scared the daylights out of me as I thought he was going to hit me. I was 50 feet from exit , beyond the camping area when I sped up to 10. He said I was speeding the entire time. Not! I told him I was leaving anyways and he yelled at me to never come back. Campers Paradise is located behind a car dealership, and in between a main road and railroad track. It is not close to the water, you have to drive. There is nothing camping about this place. If I could give this place no stars I would. If someone left a good review, it's because they are friends or family, but I doubt very much they have many friends. I never leave bad reviews but this place is the worst campground I have ever been too. Dirty, very, very rude owners, and if you do one thing to upset them, they will kick you out and take the money you paid. In fact, it's probably the only way they can get money because I know people are not coming back. It's cheap, I'll give them that, but what's that tell you. I would say that half the people there appear to be homeless, which is sad because that means they have to tolerate the owners. I have seen bad reviews for this campsite but they are wrong. I am glad I did not pay attention to them. If you are looking for a Party Place, this is not it. Very family friendly and quiet. We were traveling through and needed a place for the night. We got there about 2pm and were very pleasantly surprised. The location would make you think that the campground is going to be a dump. Not so! The campground is very nice, clean, accomodating. The sites are great size and have nice grass. Bath house was very clean. The owners were absolutely the best! You could not ask for nicer people. A good place for kids. read more

A nice cozy campground and the owners are very friendly. The bathrooms are clean with very hot showers. They keep their grass cut and the picnic tables were all recently painted. The campground is by a busy highway but that did not deter from our sleep, hearing traffic outside of your home is fairly normal. For one the owners are old and have no patience so honestly I am not sure this is the best business for them. Our experience started off ok but then noticed and tent that a family was living in. The father of the tent family decided to start yelling at his wife for I am not sure what his reason was. I didn't mind the yelling but I did mind that my kids heard everything he was saying. Aside from that my kids were playing in the sandbox there if you want to call it that and my daughter I guess threw sand at my son. Mind you this was not at any other child but my son. My kids come running back to the tent crying saying that the owner lady yelled and them and banned them from the sandbox. I took my 5 yr olds hand and lead her back to the sandbox and that is when the owner lady came walking out like she was some bad a*& saying my kids are no longer aloud in the sandbox. I asked her shouldn't she of approached me instead of talking to my children like that? (I was only 5 feet away putting stuff away) She then proceeded to tell me to shut up and listen to her. I started talking again and this time she got very close to my face and said ,"shut up." I walked away in fear of me punching her right in the face. Later on maybe a couple days later it was chilly and my friend who lived close by brought me her camping heater. (This heater was made for tents) The older gentlemen who was the other owner came barreling towards us yelling you cant use that heater! My husband said yes we can its our tent and this heater is made for a tent. The owner didn't like us actually talking back and speaking up so he took our plug that connected everything electrical in our tent and yanked it out of the socket therefore having to reset EVERYTHING! My husband said HEY! That is our cord and the owner guy said I know and I don't care. At that point I told my husband we are getting out of here. We packed up and went to the local KOA and it was delightful! Becareful if you end up going here. Don't make them mad and don't speed. They will call the cops on you. They are such jerks!
