The staff was very helpful, the bathrooms were clean and the weekend hayrides were a blast. Can't wait to book our next trip!!

It's the end of the camping season for us. Even though we live on the east side of the state we wanted a full hookup to clean tanks and general maintenance before winterizing the camper. We found a KOA that looked promising. It's an interesting set up, speed limit is 4.93 mph, petting zoo, pool (closed for the season) and all the KOA amenities. We met the owner who told us his story about the Mohawk, if you get a chance ask him about it. Huge sites. Our site was buried in the trees which is great and it's a back in. Let's be honest if you can't back in your trailer into a spot should you really be pulling a trailer, maybe have your wife back it in instead. We are putting this KOA on our fall locations. read more

Of all KoA we've been to, this is probably the family-friendliest! The sluice display at the store is a site in itself, almost as much fun as the sluice itself. The water balloon splash zone is incredible, and the playground is huge. The pool is a good size, and there's a light up tractor ride at night. The park itself is lovely. T-dawg and other staff were pleasant, and some with rainbow mohawks cuts. It's a great getaway, whether you're local or from afar. Michigan wine is a cultural destination, so if you're from afar this park has a few bottles in the case, saving you a stop. It looks like the park is installing more pull-through sites, so we hope to return some day! The laundry wasn't glamorous, but the machines were working and the office was happy to make change for quarters. The bathhouse, a koa standard, has some updates, and was clean. In all, this was a perfect place to have fun and recharge! read more

Sites are big and the grounds are fairly quite. The sewer hookup was so far away from the concrete pad, we had to go purchase an extension to reach the hookup. Also, the neighboring site's sewer hookup is directly next to our fire pit, with only a lattice screen separating the hookup and our fire pit space. Just lovely to try to enjoy a fire and start smelling the neighbors' sewer line. The fire pit is a permanent spot surrounded by pebbles. Little hard to put camp chairs around it too. There is supposed to be internet access in the park. Impossible to connect and no cell phone reception. I couldn't checking email for work, access Amazon or Facebook. If we wanted to rough it with no access, there are cheaper parks. Paying extra for the extras, then those extras are expected to be available and work properly. We arrived Friday. I still had work to do which had to be completed off site. The grounds are nice. A lot of fulltimers, or permanent rigs setup. Great that it was a central location to grand Haven, Holland, Saugatuck, Granville and Grand Rapids. Not much in Allendale but nice getaway if you don't mind being completely disconnected. read more

This is a tough park to review. I liked certain parts and really disliked other parts. First, the good: If you're looking for a camping experience away from it all and out in the country amongst trees, this is the place. Lots of activities and things to do for the children...pool, goats, an old fire engine, paint ball rifles, lots of roads for bicycles, a huge jump pad, etc. Great tent areas that were roomy and nestled in the forests. A few real nice cabins. Loved the campfire smells. Great owner, friendly, sharp and attentive. Trash pickup. Got nice and quiet after the weekend crowd left....to be expected in any park. The not-so-good: Not your usual KOA with concrete pads and extra roomy sites and sparkling picnic tables. Ours was unusable as were the ones on either side of use. Sites were too close, I should've asked for a different site. All sites were back-in, even though many were very long. Some really trashy long-term coaches, first as you went to your site and others back in the back end of the park. Cannot understand how KOA lets this be a part of their brand. Not a convenient location to see any sites nearby. Not passing judgement on the park just passing my observations along...because I somewhat liked it. However, we will find another place next time. read more

Why did they ask us if we wanted to buy firewood at check-in if we were put in a site with no fire pit? We arrived an hour early, very surprised to be charged the early check in fee. A FIRST for us at KOA's across the country. I didn't see any showers at the pool, so gross. We did see lots of happy families enjoying themselves. Not our place to return. read more

I can't say enough great things about this campground! There are so many activities for the kids: jump pad, goats to pet and feed, water ballon wars (with filling station that's easy for kids to fill and tie themselves), paintball (shooting at targets only, not each other), two playgrounds, tetherball, plenty of space to ride bikes, and hayrides through camp on the weekends. The campground has tons of trees, two ponds, a dog park, store, laundry, very nice pool with plenty of lounge chairs and tables and space to spread out. The bathrooms were some of the cleanest I've seen and the showers have plenty of hooks and shelves to place all of your toiletries and clothes. We met so many nice, helpful people here. I've been to many KOAs in California, Oregon, and Washington. This was definitely the nicest KOA I've been to. It's in a beautiful area and only 25 minutes from Grand Haven and many other things to do. We will definitely come back! read more

This campground has super nice people running it. It's also full of lovely trees and has a pool for the kids, wagon rides, a water war game, and jump pad. But I would not stay here again due to the exceedingly heavy mosquito infestation. Three applications of deep woods off was not enough. I know that is somewhat weather dependent but depending on the year, please hire a company to spray. We are in nature so I expect some... but anytime we were at the campsite we had to hide in the camper. Did a day nearby river tubing and didn't experience mosquito problems there... and finally, poison ivy on the campsite was a challenge. It was very near the kids playset and surrounding the path to the restroom. read more

We spent 2 nights tent camping here over the weekend and had a great time. This is my 3rd of 4th time at a KOA campground, so I already had some idea of what to expect. We arrived late (later than normal check in hrs) Friday night. During the booking process we noted that we would be coming in late, and they were very accommodating. After getting our information, we went to our camp site to set up our tent. The tent spaces are a little smaller than the other KOAs that I've been to. They are long and narrow. You pull your car in, and then there is just enough room for the provided fire pit/ ring, provided picnic table, and your own tent. Unfortunately it rained like crazy the weekend that we were here. The tent sites were soaked, and there were lots of puddles/ mini-ponds in our area. This area is somewhat sheltered by trees, but obviously not well enough. There are 2 sets bathrooms and showers available for use. The ones closest to us were located behind the heated swimming pool. I thought it was a little awkward that there was no pathway to the bathrooms, you just had to walk right over across the grass. Nevertheless, the facilities were decent- nothing fancy, nothing to write home about. The bathrooms all had toilet paper, soap, and working water. The showers had shower curtains, and a little wire rack to hold shampoo/ body wash, and a bench that would fold down to hold your clothes off the floor. If you plan on showering, definitely bring a pair of flip flops! They offer wireless internet around the front office (possibly in other places too, but I don't know that for certain). They will give you a slip of paper with the password at check in. Cell reception (for me, at least) was a little spotty, especially while at our tent site. The staff was friendly, and quick to assist. We had no issues whatsoever. We did not have time to participate in any of the KOA activities, but they had a variety of fun events going on during our stay. This seems like it would be a great place for kids and families. read more

Most KOA's we have been to are in disrepair and not properly maintained. some of the franchise owners and staff have been very nice but others expect the campers to jeopardize their expensive equipment just to accommodate their lack of maintenance and upkeep. Policies and rules are inconsistent. The owner is rude and expects everyone to accommodate him, he got mad at me because I refused to drive my rig through the untrimmed trees and potholes the size of a small swimming pool. He also told me they are not qualified to meet our expectations. This KOA is NOT big rig friendly and should not be advertised as such. DO NOT go here if you care about your equipment. It's a mud pit. read more

Staff and owners are friendly. Campsite was clean and for a KOA, quite spacious. We were on site 32, the lot is very deep, able to fit a tent, travel trailer, large screen room, and tow vehicle all on the site and still have plenty of room for ladder ball, toss the chicken, and other outdoor games. Staff does check to make sure kids are supervised at the pool and everyone who is at the various activities have wristbands. The kids enjoyed fishing at the various ponds (the bait that worked best was Gulp watermelon pearl minnow 2.5"), pool is adequately sized for a holiday koa and clean, and you can get 500 paintballs for $25. read more

This is the worst KOA I have ever stayed at. Dusty roads are just the beginning of poor maintenance. If you wanted something close to GVSU do a little more research there are much nicer places to stay. Have never left a place so quickly. Of course would not refund the next night. read more

The campground itself was pretty nice- bathrooms were clean, pool was good, the paintball gallery was cool, jump pad & goats-- all fun. Our site....not the greatest. We were in site #111, only water & electric hook ups and they were super far away from each other. We had to park our camper as far forward on the site as our hose would reach and because of that, we couldn't park our vehicle on it as well. Also, our fire pit was basically on top of our neighbors site and we felt like we were invading their space by using it. Oh, and it was full sun. We saw other sites that looked better, so if we were to go back, we'd be pickier about what site we chose. read more

I used to come here often when my kids were little. After the campground was bought by KOA we decided to stay a weekend and check it out. We were pleasantly surprised how many new activities that are now available. The store staff are great, friendly, and very helpful. They answered all of our questions and were very courteous. After setting up our site we decided to take a walk. My son wanted to do the paintball range and bought some paintballs. My husband was shooting one and my son the other. The gun my husband used suddenly sounded like a machine gun! He stopped pulling the trigger and gave it a once over, wondering if it was something he did, and put more balls into it to see if he had corrected the problem. It shot like a machine gun again. He let go of the trigger and removed the balls from the gun and gave them to my son. Just after that a lady (KOA worker) walked up from behind and started berating him about "IF IT SOUNDS LIKE THAT, THEN DONT SHOOT IT!" My husband replied, "it just started. I stopped." She then stated loudly, "IF THERE ARE NO BALLS THEN YOU DONT PULL THE TRIGGER!" My husband then replied, "There were balls in it when that happened." She then gave him a dirty look and waved her finger in his face and repeated, "IF IT SOUNDS LIKE THAT THEN YOU DONT USE IT, IF THERE ARE NO BALLS YOU DONT PULL THE TRIGGER, UNDERSTAND?" My husband then gave up trying to explain the situation and said okay to get her to leave. The next morning my husband got up to use the restroom and she was cleaning them. He stood outside with an ecig. It was in his hand and was not in use. She came out and seen him standing there and she waved her finger in his face and loudly stated, "NO ECIGS IN THE BATHROOM, GOT IT?" He replied okay, and proceeded to use the restroom. Later that day the power to the campground went out and the bathrooms were locked. The signs posted stated that bathrooms were not in use due to the power outage. Our fans wouldn't work and it was a humid 93 degrees. We decided to leave and asked the office for a refund. "KOA does not give refunds." This will be our last stay at that campground. Too bad, Rob (the owner) seems like a great guy too. read more

5 stars for helping me out in a pinch. After a week of low temperatures, my RV's electric heater stopped working and the propane ran out. This KOA sells propane on-site but you have to move the rig next to it. My husband and I can maneuver our 40-footer together, but on this day I was on my own and stressed out with other rigs around and beautiful but closely packed trees surrounding each site. The park owner arranged a time to get the propane and his dad came out to help spot me as I got the RV out of the spot and then back into it after refilling the propane. Their help in a stressful time really made a positive difference for me that day. read more

We had a wonderful time at this KOA. We had a full hookup site with 30 AMP and the sites were some of the deepest sites I've ever seen. So far back that our camper and truck fit with tons of room to connect and not be in the road. The sites are wooded and wide so you aren't on top of your neighbors. And the road was really wide so there was plenty of space for walkers, bikes and cars. The kids loved the pool and paintball. We had a blast on the Friday night glow hayride. The staff was so friendly and kind. It was the perfect place to come back to after a day at the beach. We will definitely be back. read more

We have camped here for the last 5 years. We were skeptical about the new ownership change. Rob wasted no time in putting our nerves at ease. He is super friendly and personable. He stopped by our site a few times just to chat. He has lots of energy and aims to make sure everyone is enjoying their stay which is not always easy to do at a campground. Our kids love the place and there is plenty for them to do. You can tell Rob goes above and beyond to make it a great experience for the kids as well. I Highly recommend staying here. We will continue to camp here for years to come. read more

Only stay here for desperation. The bathrooms are gross and far. One road was torn out with no action to fix the bridge. No recycling. Snarky staff made comments about being up too early (sorry! I can not control the time of my prof development conference) and they expected us to mind read- what to do at checkout -and gave us a hard time when we didn't do what they wanted. Not handicap accessible at all. The dog park benches were falling apart. Not a great place! They allowed outside visitors -5 cars if loud people- to one small site. No privacy. read more

I arrived by bike from Grand Rapids headed to Grand Haven. The roads are not bike friendly getting there, and the camp road is worse. I arrived after 6pm on Sunday, and the office was closed. No one to check in, no store. The site was decent, but nothing special. The facilities were worn like the road, but a little cleaner. Not sure I'd stay again, but I didn't hate it. read more

Service is terrible - rude employees. We felt very uncomfortable staying there and spent most of the time in our trailer.

These folks here have an awesome place to come and visit! The staff went above and beyond to ensure my family and I were comfortable, satisfied, and looked after when we needed help th most. We stayed here while waiting to buy a house during the summer and there kindness to us will not be forgotten. Please visit here if you have the chance, they love kids and there's is lots to do. Petting zoo, jump pad, pool, playgrounds, and hay rides on the weekends! We'll be back again for sure. read more

The terms of your cancellation on your confirmation may not be the actual terms of your cancellation. I just cancelled and was told that due to the holiday weekend, the terms on my confirmation are not the terms for my cancellation. This would have been nice to know BEFORE I booked here. There is a note that special cancellation policies may apply but I expected this to be disclosed when I made my reservation. I agreed to the terms which were on my confirmation and now they are keeping my 50% deposit. When I called, they gave me even different terms. Beware and know what you are agreeing to before making any reservations and get it in writing although this doesn't seem to mean anything in my case. read more

BEWARE! DO NOT STAY IN THE CABINS......We were there the weekend of July 21, 2016 - July 24, 2016. Our CABIN AND ALL THE CABINS HAD BED BUGS.......They knew it and admited it after we comfronted them on it.. I am a CPAP user and they also lost power while we were there and I had to leave because of no power.....it was a difficult stay.....I am still suffering due to the bed bugs and it was rough on my wife as this was suppose to be an weekend for her to relax and visit family she had not seen in 10 years, due to my health issues.
