I went here for a business lunch. I was skeptical at first because it's a very meat forward menu. I found the seafood soup made with a coconut broth. It was so yummy in my tummy. I got the small bowl which was plenty for me. The service was really good. The server took her time to explain the food and the regions of the world it came from. While Antonio's has 'typical' Coney Island food, oh my goodness. Still dreaming about the Honduran delights from over a week ago. My mom is a vegetarian and ordered two pupusas (not pictured) and the stuffed plantain. Our server recommended the fried chicken, which seemed to be popular at other tables. We were on the hunt for breakfast/brunch this morning and I am so glad we ended up at Antonios. The server was kind and helpful and the food was delicious. I got the horchata and Honduran breakfast platter. It came with beans, avocado, plantains, 2 eggs, a meat of your cheese, cheese, slaw, and 3 corn tortillas. It was filling, yummy, and nice to have a breakfast platter that was a little different from your typical eggs and bacon. From the moment I entered this well kept secret in Ypsilanti, MI. It was amazing...I met a buddy to talk business and the flavors were nothing short of spectacular. I ordered the seafood soup, served in a huge bowl. It had a rice blend with, corn, peas and other vegetables. Several wedges of lime on the side. It was a vast collection of crab, clam, fish, shrimp, mussels in a coconut curry lemongrass broth. Along with the assorted papusa's, fried plantain, I could only eat half of my soup. Walked in and was greeted immediately and offered a menu to read. More than one person paid attention to me in a very friendly way. Ordered super baleada and beef soup for takeout. Order was ready very quickly. My mouth still waters just thinking about the items many hours later. Will certainly go back for more. Ummm, I love everything about an amazing Honduras spot moonlighting as a Coney Island restaurant. I mean yes, they have the regular stuff but the Honduran food is where it's at!! *Plato Tipico Regular with Chorizo & Egg Scramble (served with beans, HALF AN AVOCADO!!, fried plantains, sour cream and 3 corn tortillas (or toast)) - I love that this translates to a typical platter -- so basically like the grand slam haha. You can get this with bacon, ham or upgrade for chorizo. The beans are bit like black beans meet refried beans. I say that because it's a lighter color like refried beans but not as thick or goopy. They were really nicely seasoned and tasty. It was a pretty big portion! *Breakfast Burrito (Chorizo) - I think I've found the best breakfast burrito that I've had in Michigan to date! It was massive (just how I like it) and stuffed full of eggs and chorizo. There were a few green bell peppers so if you're not a fan - tell 'em to hold it. The spicy salsa that is served on the side is actually spicy. I also love that it comes with a side of hashbrown or home fries. Their version of home fries are EPIC!!! Large rounds, kind of like how you would cut a plantain, and deep fried. As a tater wedge lover, I absolutely loved them! *Pupusas - It has been a minute since I've had a pupusa which are basically like deliciously filled discs - think a completely sealed quesadilla. I ordered the spinach ones as the gal working said these were her favorite & she didn't lead me astray! They also had a loroco filling, which I have never had before or seen anywhere in the states! Loroco is an edible plant native to Central America. I'll definitely have to try it next time! This also came with a really nice slaw. read more

I've been taking a Spanish class and the instructor said this was great Honduran food. So glad I tried it! Everything is homemade. We had pupusas along with carne asada tipica and Honduran enchiladas. Plantains were amazing. I tried horchata which was fabulous although next time I would have it for dessert. I was so happy when I found Antonio's. They are a Honduran restaurant masquerading as a diner. I love everything on the menu that I have tried. The fried chicken, baleadas, Honduran enchiladas. An absolutely fantastic breakfast place. It's in an unassuming strip mall and is labeled a Coney Island, but don't let that dissuade you. It is a clean, friendly place, that served me one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever eaten. This is a Honduran restaurant that also serves Mexican food, along with other stuff. Inside looks very authentic. Believe my server is an owner, or at least he takes enough pride in the restaurant to make me believe he's the owner. Very friendly and helpful. Most of the customers appear to be regulars as they are greeted warmly and don't need the menu. I had a breakfast burrito with hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were very delicious, and there was something distinct about them. Can't quite put my finger on it but I highly recommend it. Then the breakfast burrito. Absolutely fantastic! And it's absolutely huge. It comes with sour cream and a spicy sauce which was quite good. I asked for some salsa to put on top of my hashbrowns and the kitchen quickly made some fresh salsa up for me on the spot. What service! And it was delicious. Overall, if I lived anywhere close to Ypsilanti, I would be a regular too. read more

From the outside, in a strip mall and the "Coney Island" in the name you wouldn't expect really good Honduran food, but that's what you'd get. I haven't tried their "coney" side of the menu, because the Honduran side gets me every time. I am slowly making my way through their menu, but I think the Pollo Frito is my favorite. I was hoping for more palate surprises. I've been waiting to try the seafood soup only to be disappointed. The broth was like a chowder base and the seafood tasted like it was from the frozen aisle. I've been going to Antonio's for a little while at this point, and they've become one of my favorite new restaurants in the area now and the staff is also very friendly and focused on customer satisfaction and general safety. (kudos to them, btw!) I was always impressed with their food, since it such a great bang for the buck, but they also do a great job of making you feel like family there, which is a much stickier trick that requires hard work and dedication and ironically, the lack of tricks or shortcuts. read more

We were invited to check out the Honduran influenced Coney near Ypsi and we were intrigued. As soon as I saw the menu I wanted everything! My lady grabbed a melon and cucumber drink that she raved about. It was fresh and crisp and delish. I ordered tacos, a stuffed plantain and a tostada/taco hybrid with beef and slaw. Everything I ate was better than good. The chorizo taco was the best chorizo in the area, the stuffed plantain blew my mind and the beef slaw tostada was amazing too. It was such a treat to have all of the typical Coney Island foods and these amazing Latin dishes all available at the same time. This is my new favorite Coney and I don't know how any other Coney could beat it! I recommend this spot over a lot of places I really enjoy! read more

We ordered three different Honduran dishes and enjoyed them all, but the best was the Green Bananas with shredded chicken. I don't like bananas, but ordered the green banana dish because it seemed the most unusual. The green bananas didn't taste like bananas and the dish had so much flavor. You can choose which protein to get with the green bananas and I got the shredded chicken which was perfect. We also had the Honduran combo plate and the #2 Typical Platter (fried egg, refried beans, avocado, plantains, and meat). The portions were very large and we took food home and/or were really stuffed. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. Service was great. read more

My wife is from El Salvador and loves this place. She loves their atol de elote ( it's like a sweet thick hot chocolate but corn flavor), the pupusas of cheese and lorocco (a flower from Central America), and the plantains. She said it's the best Central American food she's had in Michigan. Most authentic for sure. read more

Honest to God probably the BEST food I've ever had. It was so delicious! I was visiting the area so I looked on Yelp for 'Mexican' food since I was craving it. Because of the great reviews, I thought I would try out Antonio's. Holy smokes! I wouldn't say it is Mexican - it's definitely 'central American' food. I took a gamble and chose pupusas off the chalkboard menu as an appetizer (spinach and cheese stuffed) and Fried Green Bananas with seasoned Beef with Honduran cabbage slaw and salsa. Holy Crap. Pupusas, plantains, poblanos, OH MY! This is not the scary type of 'OH MY!' shouted by Dorothy and her comrades but the 'O-M-G, can I eat here everyday forever and ever?!' This is the type of place where both myself and my in-laws can be happy. There's spicy deliciousness for me and good old pancakes and bacon for them. This is the first coney + Honduran restaurant combo I've been to and is worthy of the high-five-stars! The seafood soup (which is only served on Sundays) reins as king of all dishes. The base is made with coconut milk, spiced with Honduran flavors and salted by the sea. You'll find real crab, mussels, shrimp, etc in your soup. It comes with some lime wedges which gives the soup another dimension of tastiness. The flavors reminded me a lot of some Thai dishes I've had. If you're not into seafood or meat, try the enchilada potosina with stuffed poblanos. Major flavor there! Save room for dessert with your choice of flan, atole (sweet corn drink with actual kernels!), cheesecake or carrot cake!
