We have an RV and will be in SLC for 4 nights. Doesn't hurt to ask, right? So I called and said we were thinking about reserving a night there, but wanted to check if they had any available places for short-term storage afterwards, as we would be staying elsewhere for the next 3 nights.
Woman on phone, very rudely: "Do you mean you don't want to stay here with us at all but you want to store your trailer here?"
Me: "No" (repeated the same info as before).
Woman, very curtly: "So we need to get you registered for a night then."
Me, a little more warily: "Well we're considering it, but I just wanted to check about any available storage options you may have."
Woman: "No, if you pay for a site, then you can store it here."
Clearly, just asking a simple yes or no question was very harmful (to them) and their rude and hurtful reaction means that they are not interested in our business at all. A simple, kind, " No, I'm sorry we don't offer that" would have been lovely. Management may want to speak to the people who answer the phone, and re-teach what respectful interactions look like.
