One of my favorite dishes on earth is Pernil with Rice and beans. Campo Bello II makes authentic and scrumptious Pernil, accompanied by your choice of white or yellow (we always choose yellow... sooo yummy) and your choice of black or red beans (both are yummy). The empanadas are phenomenal. The man once gave me shit for throwing out two pieces of Campo Bello's plantains (I thought they were "leftovers" - he said "Whatchoo talkin bout Willis?!?"). I've always liked this place. Basically I get a plain, pernil (pork) sandwich, which comes on a nice sized hero roll. I have had "hit or miss" response times on delivery and fielding my calls, and if you pop in the store, you will have to wait, but quality at this level is worth waiting for. The portions are generous, but the prices have climbed along with all of inflation. For 2 pork sandwiches it was $21. This is the only place in Bay Ridge that I've found that comes close to this type of food that is more common in other areas of Brooklyn. Great quality food and great taste. read more

The food here is tasty, and given the area, Bay Ridge, it's good to have some Spanish food to choose. However, it's no Bushwick tasting Spanish food, and it's no Bushwick Spanish customer service. The customer service is extremely lacking. I work in the park, and myself and my staff have had deliveries here numerous times. Today, after coming back to work after two days of being sick, I found myself with a terrible headache. I decided to call for delivery since we're only 4 mins away, all the food is pre made, and I can get the rest of my paperwork done. I call, and the First Lady is helpful, and willing to assist, but she's having trouble due to the language barrier. Another woman then gets on the phone. Her demeanor is very dry and unhelpful. She tells me they don't deliver to me. I've had this come to my office in the park so many times and I told her that. She said "yea well we not doing it now." Because I need something thick and filling, I decide to head in and just pick up, because again, I'm only 4 mins away. Maybe the fresh air will help me. I get there; order my food, and ask the lady if she was who I was speaking with. She said maybe why? I said because you said you don't deliver that far but we're only 4 mins away. She said we only go up to 10th ave. I said okay I'm within that. She said only to the 70's. Ma'am, I'm within that area. What are you saying? She tells me "well they said we don't go there." I said "who's they?" She said "the boss." I said well can I speak to him? She said "he's not here." I said okay what's his name? She said she's not allowed to give out a name. I said okay what time will he be here? She said 4pm. I asked for her name. She said Maria. No problem Maria, I'll be there at 4 to speak to the boss. And I'll leave a review on yelp. The food this time is still as tasty, but the customer service is disgusting, and instead of having conversations about nail color, drinking and eating over the food, and being rude, you could have helped a frequent customer. read more

This is a buffet type style spot, meaning the food is made and kept hot by steam, I am unsure if you can order anything to be cooked super fresh but i am assuming you can. I got the baked chicken and arroz con gandules & a beef empanada! The chicken was super duper dry but the rice and empanada were really good. My boyfriend got yellow rice, red beans, pepper steak, a chicken empanada and we both got tres leches! He said all his food was really good but for both of us the tres leches was stale & not the greatest. Total for two full plates, two empanadas, and two tres leches was $36. Very solid Dominican food, especially for Bay Ridge. The pernil is good, sometimes fatty but that's to be expected with pork. Dining in is okay, kind of cramped. Staff is attentive. Food is always very good. Perfect place to pick up dinner when you have had a hard day at work and you can't even think about cooking. Before COVID it was a nice to stop in for lunch. This place was pretty good. I visited for lunch on Dec 11 2015. Most the guys I work with our Hispanic. So, I went with a Puerto Rican and Columbian who always talk about their soups. This place is supposed to be Dominican style cooking. Anyway we had a variety of food. One guy had the tripe soup, another had chicken with rice, I had fish and vegetables. All the food was fresh and hot, it's a variety of choices that you can pick from and the food is like on a serving line. You can see the food and they serve you what you want. I really want to like this place! The owners (husband and wife) are very kind and professional. The workers are nice too. The delivery man is fast and courteous! So this review in no way reflects the staff negatively. The food, however, is another story... Whenever I order, it's because my Dad is in the neighborhood and he likes the food. For me, it's hit or miss. Whenever I order the baked chicken, it's dry on the outside and undercooked on the inside. The pernil they gave me today was very fatty and they didn't give me any of the crispy skin. The beef stew was chewy, not tender. The relleno was made with undercooked chunks of unseasoned potato. This place is ridiculous. The girl who works the counter is uninterested in helping and is plain rude. And they charge extra if you want the rice and beers on the side separately. I can understand if they charged like a dollar for the container, but it's $4.00 for the rice and $1.50 for the beans! How absurd is that?????? After walking past this place for a few years I walked in and ordered a few things to take out. First, the servers are very nice. The menu is easy to follow. Items are in English and Spanish with great and accurate pictures. I ordered a chicken pastelitos (tasty), alcapurria (I didn't like it), yellow rice and red beans and rice (delicious) and sweet plantains (YUM!!) and the mofongo with Chicharrón (lovely). All that food was under $20 and I made two full meals and I left overs for lunch. I had to add a little water to the mofungo and nuke it cause it's dense. I am definitely going back. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I was really hungry and buying food for a few people so I was able to try a few things at one time. They have half of the food laying under a heating lamp buffet style and the rest is made in the back in the kitchen. So if you want to run in and quickly grab something you can always get prepared food. I ordered the baked chicken, pernil, rice & beans, avocado salad, chicken empanadas and beef empanadas. I must say that I was honestly pleased with everything. The food is heavily seasoned and thats something that I really like. You can tell that there is plenty of sazon and adobo being used just the way I like! Theres really only one other place I can think of further down in Bay Ridge which is Castillo's that has food similar to this and I will undoubtfully be making my way up this way to grab food here instead! Discovered this Spanish (Dominican) restaurant in Bay Ridge. Wanted to try a few items to test the waters. Ordered the Puertorrican Pastel to see what they could do with it. It is usually made with root vegetables and filled with pork. They said it was made with plantains and we had the option of pork or chicken. Got the pork one. It was a 2.5 on a 5 point scale. Dominicans are not known for successfully making these but I had to give them a try. Ordered pernil (pork roast) with dominican potato salad which is potatoes with crushed beets in it. The potato salad was ok, but the peril was super dry and I mean dry. At $9.00, I was not happy. We ordered a mofongo (mashed plantains) with chunks of fried pork. It came with gravy made from either stewed beef or chicken broth. I chose the beef. I will tell you this: This is one of the best mofongos I have ever had. Fresh, lots of meat in it and the gravy was really good-- really, really good. I would come here over and over again just for this dish. It was a 5 out of 5. The service was friendly but since the ladies working the food stations serve multiple customers, it is sometimes difficult to get their attention. read more

My second favorite restaurant in bay ridge. This is a Dominican style hot line where you get to pick out what you want on your plate. In addition to the normal staples (arroz con frijoles, pollo, carne asada, pastor, etc) they've got a lot of healthy options including guacamole, steamed veggies, and different homemade salsa. The prices are reasonable and even though it's not super big there is usually a table open. I can't attest for the Staten Island location but this one is a gem that shouldn't be missed. read more

3.5 stars. I found this place through Yelp and knew I just had to try it. There was a grade pending sign when I came, but the place looked very clean from what I could see. The food is all set up behind glass windows for you to look and decide. I ordered the pernil with rice and (black beans) and a mofongo de chicharrones (with chicken stew). The pernil was moist, but a tad on the bland side; it went well with the rice and beans though. The beans were flavorful, but more liquid in consistency than I'm used to, but still good. I definitely loved the mofongo de chicharrones and the chicken stew was great with it. They have a good amount of items on their menu, so I don't think I would ever get tired of them. I have to try their maduros! The staff here is friendly and patient, which is always appreciated. There is another restaurant that is similar to this place in the area, but certainly doesn't serve up as delicious food. In terms of prices, you get a good portion of good food without breaking the bank. I am so happy to have this lunch or dinner option in the area and will definitely be back! read more

Worst delivery service, took over an hour and twenty minutes to get our food. Ordered the churasco steak for my son and had to throw it out, it looked bad and tasted worse. They also forgot to send the beans along with the white rice, also ordered the empanadas which were terrible the ground meat had a strong vinegar taste.
