The dentist only works 1 min on your treatment each time you go, all the rest is done by his assistants. On top of that, they try to sell you unnecessary treatment. They even refused to do a regular cleaning (?) if I didn't pay an upgrade of $75 to another type of cleaning. With the promise of a free electric toothbrush and a $100 gift card in hand from Caltopia, I arrived at Campus Dental Care with an open mind. Honestly, with a promotion like that, there's no way someone could say no to a visit here! Fortunately, it was a win-win situation for me because I recently got SHIP insurance and hadn't seen a dentist in quite some time. From making the appointment to leaving with freshly polished teeth, my experience was excellent. The receptionist was helpful and prompt with determining my appointment date. She even called me the morning of, letting me know of a cancellation, which meant I could come a little early if I was available to. As luck would have it, my class got out early and I was able to start my appointment 30 minutes early, too. I enjoyed seeing my teeth x-rays immediately appear on the computer screen above, which the dentist perused before examining my teeth. Both dentist and hygienist were a pleasure to converse with, very informative, and compassionate in nature. After having my teeth cleaned, I remarked at how gentle it was. The hygienist explained to me that she uses a pressurized water tool to remove most plaque, and that if that doesn't do the trick for tightly wedged plaques, she uses the metal dental pick (the tool I was expecting, but which she did not need to use on me). Wow, a dentist appointment without feeling poked and prodded? Crazy. And, for all the skeptics out there like myself, I went home and examined my molars to see if she missed any plaque with her pressurized water tool. I'm happy to report that, although it was gentle, it was thorough and removed all visible plaques. :D I would recommend Campus Dental Care to all of my friends, especially if they have SHIP insurance. With nothing else said. She did not wait for me to clarify and I was so stunned I waited on the line for about thirty seconds thinking she had put me on hold. Then I heard the dial tone. I called and made a check-up appointment at the recommended 'replacement' dentist, Campus Dental. The Monday before my Tuesday June 26th appointment, I received a phone message saying "We do not have the time of your appointment. Please call us and tell us your time." Unfortunately, I did not get home to return the phone message until after hours. I showed up for my Noon appointment at 11:30am . The receptionist (Sorry, they do not wear name tags or uniforms with their name on it) asked me what time my appointment was for - I said noon and asked if they had all my current information in a Delta Dental file. They said yes. I approached the reception desk and asked why the person who came after me was being treated while I was still waiting. The receptionist told me that the two appointments were made for the same time. In other words, she lied to me about her failure to write down my appointment time which she had set. I waited another 30 minutes wondering what the heck was going on. Anthony Needham, DDS came out of the treatment area to tell me that the receptionist had not written down my appointment and had then made a double appointment for the same day and time. Mr. Needham asked if I could wait another hour to be seen and I said I would go run errands and he asked me to return between 1:15 to 1:30pm. I returned at 1:20pm and was assured that someone would be with me shortly. Next the hygienist came out from the treatment area and walked through the waiting area and left out the front door. She returned about a half an hour later. She went back into the treatment area. I waited another 10 minutes or so and then the hygienist returned to the waiting room and called my name. When I got to the treatment chair she apologized for leaving me in the waiting room. She said she thought I was her 2pm appointment or she wouldn't have gone out to lunch. Finally, we got the x-rays done and she cleaned my teeth. Then, Mr. Needham came out and spent 15 minutes explaining that the receptionist made a mistake and the hygienist had made a mistake. I told him that I already knew of their multiple mistakes and was not happy about taking over three hours for a maintenance check up. I was handed a piece of paper, folded it up and took it home. No surprise--the office staff had produced not a receipt but a statement showing I owed them another $245.00! Two weeks after the above botched appointment I broke off a tooth and realized I could not wait until I changed dentists to have a crown put on what was left. I called to make an appointment and the same receptionist gave me an 11am appointment for the July 10, 2012. I arrived on time to be told that I was a fit-in-between appointment and would just have to wait and see how it went. I told the front desk staff that I would have appreciated being informed that my appointment was a work-in appointment at the time I confirmed the new appointment . They told me that they had tried to call me but the number in my record was no longer in service. I asked if they remembered me asking them if they had my current information at my first botched appointment. They never answered. Mr. Needham is not a bad dentist and I got good treatment for my crown fitting. Then, I went to the front desk again to ask them for an appointment in two weeks to get my crown fitted. This was on July 10th and the receptionist offered me a July 17th appointment. I reminded her that the 17th would be only one week. She finally figured out that two weeks would be the 24th of July. My next appointment was made for 10am (they don't open until 11am!) Dr. Needham is a good DDS. His office staff is like an ongoing curse. Never again. read more

I came to Campus Dental for a second opinion after another dentist said I need $5000 in dental work. The dentist gave me a complete check up and said I need one crown at a cost to me of only $400. It's been great to find a dentist you can trust (kind of like finding that kind of mechanic!) and who is also a super cool, friendly, down to earth guy. All the staff are super nice and quite funny. I was thoroughly disappointed in the lack of professionalism and transparency when it came to getting my wisdom teeth removed here. I paid for a consultation and x-rays, and yet when I showed up for my surgery (after taking four days off of work in anticipation for recovery), I was told that it could not be performed by the oral surgeon because there was not a CT scan done of my teeth. This was extremely frustrating and inconsiderate, especially because the bulk of Campus Dental Care's patients are low-income. I now have to get surgery elsewhere. I wish the dentist knew how to read an x-ray before scheduling me for a surgery; if he doesn't have the expertise he shouldn't be consulting on said x-rays -- period. This is an exploitive and dishonest practice that preys on folks in need of medical attention. I will not be referring Campus Dental Care to anyone, I urge you to consider going anywhere else for dentistry. read more

As far as dental work itself, he is very skilled at his trade. I felt taken care of the entire time in all my visits. I'm glad i found a dentist in town that I can rely on. So yes there can be long wait time and they won't let you reschedule your next check up during your appointment-- but for people who are scared of drilling/getting cavities removed I really recommend this doctor! He did extra numbing because I was nervous and made me feel at ease throughout the process (giving me ear plugs and explaining what was going on). I recently went in to get a dental cleaning and asked about my wisdom tooth since they have been bothering me. Turns out I only have 2 so far. YES! The doctor came by to check on it and he said he could do it for me since it was out already and save me some mooola! I was numbed and he asked if I could still feel my lips. I said yes so he gave me more. "Only pressure no pain" was our deal and that's exactly what I got. It took about 5 minutes or less. I didn't look like a chubby bunny at all a few days after or throughout the entire healing process. Got my stitches removed in a week. Everything was good! The doctor understands the pain you go through with your mouth so he makes sure you won't feel a thing. Happy with my experience and would definitely recommend! I came to Campus Dental with really bad teeth. I was worried and scared. From the beginning they did not judge me or make me feel bad about myself. They are honest, professional and caring. The first person you see is Rosie, she always knows your name when you walk in the door. She is detailed and very good at her job. Even though she is very busy she is never to busy to be kind and personable. She will work with you and help you get what questions you have answered. Nancy assists Dr. Sabagh and when I feel nervous she really knows how to calm me down and make me comfortable. Dr. Sabagh is a wonderful Dentist, he is gentle and walks you through everything. He is really making my smile and my health a whole lot better. Nancy is always by my side making sure I am comfortable and calm. I really appreciate her. I am really grateful to all of them. Coming back to this dentist after several years has proved to be a great decision. The quality of service is still as top notch as it was years ago. The front-desk staff and Dr. Needham are great at informing you on your best options for whatever procedure is needed. While in the chair, I was able to pop in my headphones and listen to some of my favorite songs during the appointment. My friend went to Campus Dental today and received two pages of potential bills totaling $4000!! She was told she needed a root canal but had no pain in her tooth. She was also told she needed three teeth to be removed and around a dozen fillings, but she has had no pain and yearly she only gets 1-2 fillings. She was just trying to get a teeth cleaning and she didn't even get that. As a Cal student I would hate for anyone to go through further debt. From the beginning entrance in the door there is a feel of peace and warmness in the room. All the girls were great and they were very informative every step of the way. I've never encountered a better dentist. Super clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Not only did I get through a root canal with 0 pain at all(I had my painkillers at hand and ready to take them, but had no need for them). The Doctor who performed my root canal called me that night, to see how I was feeling!! I've never experience such great attention after a medical procedure. Very flexible with scheduling and the courtesy calls 24 hours prior to your appointment are golden! I been meaning to post my experience at campus dental care but I've been so caught up with summer school and work! To my surprise I found some time today! I came in here for my regular cleaning in the beginning of the year I also did attend CALTOPIA and received their ship gift card of $100 off which at the time didn't mean much to me since I believed I had perfect oral health! 2 months passed by after school started and I felt some sensitivity on my back molars and decided to finally give campus dental a call. I originally just wanted to be seen to determine what was causing such discomfort. Came to find out one of my molars had a broken filling that I didn't know about luckily I caught it just in time for them to replace the filling without causing further damage! The even better news is that I got to use my $100 gift card towards my treatment! And the assistant Lizette also let me know that I would be getting a free electrical toothbrush also part of my ship benefit (after having X-rays and my check up done) well here I am today almost a year later and got my cleaning done last week very nice and sweet staff ! I just finished all my procedures and I am very happy with all my results. I had a couple of cavities and a bridge done and I am overall very happy. All the staff here is amazing and they are always trying to work with you to give you the best services. I've gone to many dentist but the experience here was AMAZING. I honestly had to make a whole Yelp account to review the hygienist that did my cleaning around 2-3 weeks ago . I went in because I wanted a free electrical toothbrush as advertised on this $100 dollar gift card I got on campus while I was walking to class. I was over due for a cleaning and I was kind of nervous to go get my check up. Past few days before my visit I was very sensitive on my gums and scared to get a rough cleaning like at my prev dental office. I came in and was greeted by Liz she explain everything that was going to happen that day very thoroughly she made the X-ray part of the appointment very fast and easy . Next up I got an exam which cleared me for any cavities ! So I am cavity free yaaaas!!! I was scared for the next step which was the cleaning, I let the hygienist know I was very sensitive and through out the whole cleaning she was very on it about me having any pain she would stop and ask me if I was okay and how I was doing and we even started a great conversation through out the cleaning! Simply such a great experience ! I have since recommended a few class mates here! Oh an another thing their office is so modern and super clean!! Till next time!! read more

As a Cal student, I will warm you to better do your research and go to another place. It's true that the place is close to campus, but they do not have parking and it's in the center of a very polluted/noisy place. The people who work here DO NOT have any ethnics. Their practices are very sketchy and they really do not have idea of the word GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Just wonder, why a place doesn't accept the bad reviews to the point of contacting Yelp to delete the bad reviews they receive??? Get better service and care about your clients in the first place. I really do not believe of the 5starts reviews and doubt they're legit. Use your SHIP somewhere else a thousand times rather than this place. I'm not the only one complaining, but after a bad experience with them two of my floor friends mentioned also having bad experiences visiting here. They would think of many reasons to charge you extra. Go to google and read the honest reviews (At least there, they don't delete them). Also read below all the bad reviews they have to be even more sure if walking away from the Campus Dental. Really, this place is a joke. read more
