While cleaning out my closet, I observed a stack of nostalgic T-shirts that I didn't really wear anymore. I had a vague recollection that there are companies that will assemble T-shirts into quilts. So I googled it, and sure enough there are at least three such companies: campus quilts and two others. Of the three, campus quilts was the medium priced option... The cheaper option only offered some very odd sizings of quilts, which were misleadingly named... (They offered a twin size quilt that definitely would not cover a twin sized bed. And worse, none of their quilt sizes would do so.) The most expensive of the three companies was just insanely expensive, more than double the cost from campus quilts. So I did their online order system, assembled my shirts, selected options, and just received the T-shirt quilt back today. In a word, it looks fantastic. I had no idea that they could make such perfect seams between the shirts and that they could have both synthetic technical shirts and cotton shirts work equally well. Not sure I'll have another occasion to assemble this many shirts into a product but if I do I'll definitely use them again. read more

It has been some time since I purchased a pair of quilts from Campus Quilt, and I am just now reviewing the business because I finally found my old pictures. You really need a picture to get an idea of this product. This is a neat idea - and a great one for gifts. I used to collect college t-shirts during my younger days and had a lot of them...everyone knew that a different college t-shirt was a perfect gift for my birthday and would be a hit. I ended up with drawers overflowing and started to think about what to do with all of them. When I found Campus Quilt I decided to make one quilt for each of my kids - a 4 by 4 quilt, and thus use up 32 of my old t-shirts. The quilts really came out nice. While the quilts are a bit on the expensive side, their quality makes it worth it. As the photos show, I chose to have the sashing or borders between the squares to set them off and the flannel backing (unseen in pictures) - and it worked perfectly and looks wonderful. The sewing is top notch and the cutting out of the college name from the shirts preserved just what was needed. While the t-shirts I gave them were old, they used them just right...they even fixed a little tear on one. Sorry to gush but this was a great gift idea and Campus Quilt lived up to the hype. I am very happy with the Full Quilt (30) that Campus Quilt made from my son's old T-shirts. He acquired dozens of T-shirts over the years as he was growing up. He can be a bit sentimental so he will be thrilled when he receives this tasteful quilt for Christmas: His Whole Life Before His Eyes. I was initially attracted by Campus Quilt's excellent and helpful website which explained the process and the options. Also, I judged the cost to be at a reasonable price point. They company provided advice on how to organize the materials for submission. I ordered the Wall Hanging Sleeve and Fabric Sashing between the squares. Over the years I acquired t-shirts as souvenirs from places I'd traveled, marches, races, teams I'd been on, and I had no opportunity to wear them all. And, truthfully, most of them didn't fit anymore. But I was having a terrible time letting them go. My sister said, "just save a picture of them and get rid of the shirt." But I couldn't even do that. Photos just didn't do it for me, but the shirts were taking up valuable storage space, and I never saw them anyway. My campus days have been over for decades, but a t-shirt quilt was a perfect solution. I looked at several online t-shirt quilt companies. Some were cheaper, but the quality didn't seem very good. Some were more expensive, and I couldn't see how they were worth more money. So I packed up my treasured collection of shirts, hoping I would see them again, and mailed them to Campus Quilt. Because I hadn't given them a deadline, it took awhile for them to start on my quilt, but once they did, they finished within a few days. They had a question about one of the shirts, but before they cut it, they checked with me. Anyway, I LOVE the quilt. It is toasty warm: lots of fill and flannel backing.
