Calamari

I cannot recommend this place enough. We wandered in on the advice of our hotel at 11pm on a Saturday night, and it was absolutely packed. We had made the mistake of not making a reservation, but we got very lucky and a waiter squeezed us in in the corner after 20 mins, but first making sure we got some wine while we waited. Despite the place being absolutely hectic, our waiter made sure we had all the time we needed with him, checking to see how we were getting on with each glass of wine, would we like the same again or to try a different one and explained the flavours in each bottle. Everything sounded so good on the menu that we decided to let him choose some tapas for us, and were delighted we did so. The sardines with apple salsa was amazing, and I think our favourite was the salmon with a creamy italian cheese, I can't remember the exact. And order the cheesecake, you won't regret it! The bill came to 60 euro for 4 decent sized tapas, 5 glasses of wine, olives, bread and a slice of cheesecake for 2 people, which was very much worth it.

This is a copy of my review of Bar Brutal, at the same location. Fantastic place with a short selection of simple yet very tasty food. From dried meats and tuna, smoked sardines, cheese selection and a daily special (bacalao with mashed potatoes the day we were there), the food is great! They also have an extensive wine collection. The large communal table in the front is surrounded by wine bottles. They have 2 bars and the first one looks fantastic. The only issue from my perspective, was the limited selection which made it more difficult to satisfy my children's "fragile" palate. A place to go!

A-mazing!!!! Hands down the best place in town! It was so good that we had to come a second time! The staff is so nice and they really take the time to describe each bottle of wine. But even more impressive than their natural wine - which is apparently a step up from organic - is the food! We had smoked tuna, olives, autumn salad, smoked sardines, roasted pumpkin, steamed mussels and clams, and burrata cheese with tomatoes and basil. Everything was divine!!!! Interestingly the vegetarian dishes were my favorites. If you have to pick one thing on the menu, I recommend the buratta! It melts in your mouth! We ate it so fast that I forgot to take a photo. A close second was the roasted pumpkin. The place itself is very casual and has a hip atmosphere. But you must make a reservation if you want to have dinner there. You won't need one for lunch. This is THE place to go in Barcelona!

Steak Tartar

This place was very interesting. I actually thought it was a wine shop because of its entrance and walked around trying to find the place using the Yelp map aimlessly. The wines are all unfiltered and natural. I had the steak tartar which was minced not chopped. It was flavourful but an odd texture. I also had the scallops which were so tiny for 9 Euros it really didn't seem worth it to order. Service was great. I enjoyed the experience

Found this small hole in the wall by luck. So we didn't have reservations l waitress let us sit at the Bar. We didn't know what to order. Our server Borja was awesome told him the kind of Wine we wanted. Picked out a nice white. We ordered a few tapas and he had them for us within 5minutes. We weren't planning on ordering Desert but Borja started telling us and they sounded great. When we return to Barcelona. We are totally coming back here. The vibe was great my kind of spot.

Cured beef and eggplant

Had an amazing experience here. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The tapas were divine - we had the cured beef, porchetta and eggplant. The cured beef just melts in your mouth. The porchetta was served with fig jam and 2 slices of bread underneath, soaking up the sweet and salty juices from the porchetta and the fig jam. The eggplant was paired with a mint purée, which made it very refreshing. The olive bread was delicious as well. This place is tucked away in a small alley near Picasso museum.

You want a table, make a reservation! This place is popular! A cosy restaurant with good service and good food!

This is a small but perfectly wonderful kitchen and restaurant. Love the atmosphere, and I sincerely don't know what us not perfect with today's meal...

Randomly stumbled upon this place when we (sadly) learned that Cal Pep isn't open for dinner on Saturdays.

I need this wine bar in my life. Omg. We literally stumbled upon this place shortly after opening…read moretime while cruising the Born. All of the wines by the glass can be tasted in flights or just by the glass. We got deep into the list by having a red and white pairing and by trying 2 of the cavas. We learned of the flights after ordering the cavas. Needless to say we drank a good amount. Our sever Marie was so knowledgeable about the Spanish grapes and growing regions. As a Dutch ex pat she was so interesting to talk to and with. Not only did we talk about wine but also urban planning and social issues in our hike countries. One doesn't always get that with wine. The menu is extremely creative and also set up to be eaten as bites or shares and are paired with the wines. Be sure to try the foie gras and the short ribs. Everything on the menu sounded so delicious. If we didn't have a dinner reservation we would have eaten a lot more. The space is so lovely, modern, well lit and inviting. Any of the bottles on their wine list can be purchased as a discount, so of course we did. Highly recommend.

Though I don't think it is possible to go wrong with any of the brunch wine pairing! They all look amazing and I can't wait to come back and try a new pairing. Lastly, I am usually more of an introvert in a public place, but I was fascinated by the origin story of La Catalista. If you get a moment to talk to the owner, do it! There are life lessons that are as inspiring as the wine.
