Been living on the West side and missing the Vietnamese stores from the East side so much. My friend and I were driving around trying to find Balut desperately and stumbled upon this store. WOWWW are we glad. Not only did they have balut they had an array of groceries I would need for nearly any Vietnamese dish I want. A one stop shop! Can Tho has been around for a LONG time and I think just based off of their many years providing a much needed Asian grocer in this local community that they well deserve five stars (and more)! I still have memories of coming to this super tiny store as a kid - almost running into other customers as we squeezed around each other to get groceries. They have wide assortment of snacks, veggies, meat etc. Somehow they really managed to pack a ton of items into very limited square footage. Even returning as an adult, it feels like a walk along memory lane just squeezing between aisles like I used to as a child. They maintain a pretty solid assortment of fresh and packaged items, and they sometimes also have refrigerated Vietnamese desserts for sale. Although there are now some larger Asian grocery stores in the area, Can Tho has been around for a very long time, and I'm glad to see that they are still doing well! read more

It's cold and rainy outside and my son was begging to have Pho noodle soup. I didn't feel like dining out and have been contemplating making Pho at home. I've watched tons of recipe videos and realized that, hey, I'm gonna give it a try. Did a Yelp search and found that this Vietnamese market was close by and headed over. I found everything I needed and they had spice kits for Pho broth which is nice. I also ended up getting additional kitchen items like the single coffee brewer to make Vietnamese coffee and noodle soup spoons. It was a small but well stocked market that carries many different hard to find Asian products, not only Vietnamese but also Thai and Filipino. Glad I can come here for ingredients I need to make Pho. It wasn't authentic like the restaurants, but it was good enough to make our tummies happy! read more

Galanga, kaffir leaves and chili oil...oh my! I know I know, but I get happily excited and overwhelmed when I go to this fab little store. :D I absolutely love having a Asian market close to home! What is really great is that they have fresh produce as well as frozen individual sized of said vegetable, root or herb for your delicious dinner of choice you know you have planned tonight. Mmm! THE only reason for four not five stars is they don't carry our beloved pure matcha green tea powder. Shoot. :( so that's ignites a trekking ordeal across town to another large Asian store that has it. (And I spend WAY too much money when there, therefore I try not to go often). I danced my way through tunnels of aisles full of an array of different hot oils, chili powders, hoisins, fish sauces, fresh and frozen meats/seafood, tofus, and hard to find Asian candies. Green tea kit kat...?? Of course! These store is attached to a Pho joint, which I have never been to before, weird, I wonder if it's the same owners as the store? I should ask, they are very polite and know their stuff. So probably know their pho too. Same signage outside, so guessing they are connected somehow. Doesn't carry as much as other major Asian markets. BUT, it's a 5 star for me bc it carries all the Vietnamese ingredients I typically use + more (desserts, condiments, snacks). If you're in Tanasbourne area, it's nice especially bc you don't have to trek 20 minutes to the other markets in Beaverton. Market is clean, herbs and veggies are fresh, owner is friendly. One of the best Vietnamese market in the area. By saying best, I meant truthfulness, honesty and quality. Usually if I need anything, I would call ahead to check with the owner if the products available so I can decide to come or not. The owners are very nice and honest. They would never let me pay for a bad quality product without discounts. However, their products are fresh and with reasonable prices. This place is beautiful. Almost completely invisible from 185th, this little market is almost completely hidden by the strip mall at Walker. in fact i just saw the name ofth place out of the corner of my eye as my boyfriend was driving across the Walker intersection of 185th, and it was so nondescript looking from the outside it could have been anything! This is such a hidden gem and i am so glad i glanced it! They have a whole wall of refrigerators filled with awesome Asian produce...fresh green veggies of all kinds, gingers, spices...we picked up some Chinese long beans while we were there. They had fresh mango, papaya, and DUCK EGGS sold by the PIECE! I mean, how awesome is that! Also they had a whole aisle almost full of different hot sauces and seasoning sauces. Yum! The lady working the counter was very nice, and overall their prices were really reasonable! If you live in the area and haven't noticed this place yet it is really worth a visit! read more

The good thing is the service. I usually go in with a list from my husband since he is the cook. The store is conveniently located for me to pick up things up on my way home from work. All I have to do is give the lady my list and she will gather everything for me. If you don't see something you are looking for just ask. So far they have had everything needed for Asian cooking. This place is far more Asian convenience store than Fubonn- class mega mart. I suppose it suits the needs of those stuck deep in the SW when Umanjiwa is too far a drive, or traffic is too bad and time too short. One entire aisle here (out of 3) is devoted to noodles, mostly of the rice/ramen variety. The middle aisle is mainly canned goods, including their delightful take on SPAM, where I finally learned how to properly say it in Spanish ("Carne Preparada"---- not as much fun as I'd hoped it would be... in fact, the term seems a little bit.... canned..... *ducking rotten fruit being hurled my way*). One wonders if "Can Tho" in fact means, roughly translated, "Canned rendered meat product." I also noted bulk tubs of dried, shredded meat with the promising label of "Pork Fu". While traveling in Australia, I came across a similar shredded, dried pork product that they there called "Pork Floss", and I was so impressed I sent several packages to friends back home. Pork Floss, meet Pork Fu, baby. You may very well imagine the puzzled emails/phone calls received, on behalf of said care packages.... All in all, when the Zomb-poc-alyspe descends, there would be worse places to find oneself barricaded for a few months. I'm betting the Pork Floss, er, Fu, will out-survive the last of them undead creeps.... read more

So this tiny little market isn't as big as pacific but it is alot closer to me and does it's job. The vegetables are all in the fridge so i'd assume it's not as fresh as it can be. but what i do like is you can get access to other vietnamese stuff without having to drive all the way to NE. the savings in gas and time justifies the slightly higher price. if you're in the area this is worth a look for vietnamese grocery. read more

This is a small, clean Vietnamese market tucked into a very assuming little row of buildings. It's behind the strip mall off 185th (the one with the Dollar Store and Pet Smart) and conveniently right next to Saigon Grill. We wandered in after our meal and walked away with a huge pack of fresh Chinese broccoli and some rice noodles. The other produce looked good; it isn't cheap, but there are a lot of items you can't find anywhere else nearby (i.e., Vietnamese eggplant and Chinese long beans). Like another reviewer said, to find similar items out in the burbs you'd have to drive a long way to either Uwajimaya or Ranch Mart, so this is a very welcome little market. There are lots of frozen items (frog legs and whole fish) and a whole aisle of noodle bowls/instant Ramen that are worth checking out. Also, the fresh bakery items like banh mi buns and a few different kinds of pastries looked good. We were still full from lunch next door, though, so maybe next trip! Astrologically: Honestly, there are a lot of things in here that I couldn't identify, so if you're shy at all about asking questions (Cancer and Pisces), this might not be your favorite place. Adventurous, extroverted types like Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, though, will love it. Since moving a few months ago, I found myself driving up and down Walker to get home from 185th. However, despite all that, I only just noticed Can Tho Market about a week ago. We made a point of going in on Monday (2/4/2013) and were delighted to find an abundance of all our favorite brands and ingredients (normally found at Uwajimaya or Fubon). Tucked away, and certainly packed floor to ceiling, this place is worth checking out. I will certainly be stopping in more frequently on my way home! read more

This is a great little Asian market when I need to go and grab something quickly. The store owners are very nice. I come here often!

I normally only review restaurants, but I had to put in my two cents on this place. This is the best Asian market in town, and is actually better than most of the ones in Portland. As a chef, this place is for me a treasure trove of hard-to-find ingredients. They have everything...even housewares. Any Asian ingredient you can think of can be found at this place. The market is clean and well stocked, the produce is gorgeous, and the seafood counter has specialty items. (*)Produce--tons of fresh produce at low the price you'd find in the local supermarkets. (*)Packaged noodle soups--this is NOT just ramen. Honestly, there are well over 100 different varieties of packaged noodles with powdered soup mix. A college student could eat one of these every day in the semester and never have the same one twice! If you are in the Beaverton area, check out this place...you will not be disappointed. Tiny mom and pop grocery store. I was visiting from out of town and wanted to make dinner for my friends. This was the closest asian grocery store to her house. They are WAY overpriced. I got a small pint size ziplock bag of herbs for $1.25...less than half the amount of herbs for the same price as other grocery stores. Expect to pay 25 to 40% higher than other stores.
