I love Korean Supermarkets, I had fun shopping and browsing around at G-Mart, although I wish I could bring back tons of stuff from here ( perishables) I can't wait to shop at my local HMart for some products that I've seen here, hopefully they carry them. G-Mart is huge, colorful, and messy in a way due to tons of products, parking is limited and parking lot is kind of confusing. We parked on the street the first time and the 2nd visit when I went back again to grab more stuff, we parked along the side since we couldn't find any open stalls. I don't know where to begin looking, upon entering, I head straight to the ramen section, which is my favorite/weakness! I noticed lots of new ramen brand that I haven't tried before, To sum it up, G-Mart has a great selections of all the Korean products you'll need. There are also fresh meats, produce and great assortment of ban chan and kim cheeee!! I killed 2 birds over here, dined at the restaurant upstairs and shopped here. What really caught my eyes and was happy to see while shopping here, I finally get to try ice cups (.99) which I used for packaged ice coffee, it was pretty cool to pour the drink in the cup ( from watching Instagram vids on Korean convenience store) Also the viral ice cream, so happy I get to try it here! That was some creamy, sweet & fancy viral ice cream, I also got to try frozen Kimbap, never tried it but seen those viral vids too. Besides those goods I got, I also bought a box of OFood seafood ramen, Turtle chips, seaweed, candies and cake. The Mala Turtle chips was really good, I hope to see them here. So Happy -feeling just like a kid at a candy store.... hehe. I heard from local that this supermarket use to be Paldo, Hmart, now Gmart. Not sure if same owner as Hmart but I do notice the Hmart adds, I am confused! hehe. It's been a bit since I came back here. This time I bought some of their premade banchan. They taste pretty good for grocery store banchan. They have a variety of options from Napa cabbage kimchi to seasoned octopus. They also have some premade foods like kimbap. The kimbap was pretty decent had a good amount of filling. We noticed this place as we were pulling into our hotel across the street, and what a find!! Nestled behind a small door and parking lot is this wonderful Korean market. You asked l can find most anything you would want, and they also have a while car filled with different types of kimchi! To top it all off, there is a Korean restaurant tucked away on the top floor! Done grocery shopping here several times and always wanted to try the restaurant since we love the culture and food. Did my shopping put my stuff in car since restaurant wasn't opened yet. came back in went upstairs closed. A Korean family came and walked past us and they opened all of a sudden. So we went back up and got sat. They took their orders and brought out hot tea and water and banchan I was ready to order but no recognition. Two parties came in and sat and they get the same thing. So I called the lady and said I'm ready. She said ok. Then walked away and got the two new groups their hot tea and stuff. And she finally got to me with just water. And I looked around like where's my stuff. I said nothing until another group walked in and sat. They haven't even ordered anything yet and they got hot tea and stuff. Every table got their food except us. My kids looking at me hungry almost crying. So I just told them to wait. Food finally came and minutes later bill came just for us not the other tables. Safe to say I'll not be returning here. Might not even get groceries. read more

Portland Metro provides some top notch options for Korean, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, BBQ, burgers, breakfast (but not so for Persian, Indian, or seafood.). Yes there are many more categories, but those quickly come to mind concerning the extremes. This is my favorite spot for Korean. Many of the classics are satisfying, but I'm particularly fond of the Mackerel. Service is what you normally get at a Korean restaurant: stoic, but not rude. This is my go to Korean grocery store for staples like: - Gochujang red chile paste, which I use in everything - Kalbi ribs - make them for your next BBQ and your guests will swoon - BBQ sauce for Kalbi ribs - Fresh Kimchi - Sweet potato noodles for stir fries - Thinly sliced beef - Frozen dumplings - Pork belly which I use for fried rice and Bao - Different size and types of dried noodles - Fresh veggies They have an entire aisle of noodles from all over Asia: rice noodles of various widths, vermicelli, udon, mung bean, egg noodles, buckwheat and more. Same with soy sauce and Chile oils, a vast assortment. I'm a huge fan of the chile crisps in oil which I use to add heat to scrambled eggs, pizza, stir fries, noodle dishes including Italian pasta and Asian noodles, and sautéed green beans. I stock up! They have fresh and frozen seafood, fresh meat, veggies and fruit priced better than big box grocery stores, rice, an area dedicated to cooking utensils and containers, Asian treats, bakery items, drinks and more! Located off SW Cannon Road across from Fred Meyers Gas in Cannon Square, you can't really see G-Mart since they are behind Aaron Furniture Store. I found them by accident when I saw azalea bushes in bloom and turned down the street to snap some pics. When I saw the sign, I had to go in! And now am a regular. I like that it's a smaller than H-Mart and Ranch 99 which means I can run in and out quickly. The parking lot is small but you can also park on the street. This Korean grocery store is filled with so many delicious items, instant noodles, deli goods, snacks, meats for bbq and hotpot, veggies and frozen goods. One of the best foods to buy from the deli is kim bap, a Korean sushi roll that's nearly vegetarian (includes egg). The sesame and salt is a nice balance. Stop by and check out Spring restaurant on the 2nd floor. The grocery item prices are decent. Store looks small from the outside but offers a huge selection on Korean groceries, possibly some other Asian countries items as well. The cashier/owner was pretty helpful when we asked to describe an item as we could not read the characters. We like this new discovery and will be back when we are in the area. Parking is small but most people don't stay long as you can grab your items, pay for it and leave. read more

There's two registers here at the entry of the store. The cashiers are very nice. There's frozen, fresh fruits/ veggies, soju, snacks and in the back right side an array of meat from thin slices for Korean BBQ - such as; Kalbi ribs (my favorite), Ox tail, bulgogi, pork belly etc. They also have kimchi and other pre made side dishes. Korean BBQ grills, chop sticks, masks etc .. I've been told there's a restaurant upstairs which currently does take out . It's been said they make incredible Kalbi Ribs (I'll have to try it sometime & give an update) The parking lot - is pretty small but there's also street parking. A great little Asian market with a focus on Korean and Japanese items ... prices are reasonable and the selection is good (like a smaller version of Seattle's Uwajimaya). In addition to fresh Asian produce and a meat counter, they have things like kim-chi, pickled octopus, a whole aisle of ramen, another whole aisle of noodles of various kinds ... as well as kitchen and pantry implements both from Asia and US-sourced but commonly used by people who cook Asian food (i.e. glass storage containers with locking plastic tops, tea cups, chop-stick rests, etc.) And it's a discount store --- a good value. Before the name change to G-Mart my family has been coming here for years! Now a days it seems that depending on what item we sre shopping for, we go to various grocery stores. I used to always love getting ice cream here and Korean snacks but it seems like the variety changes quite a bit. We also have used G-Mart to order rice cakes for special occasions, and pick them up on Sunday mornings (which is when parking is plentiful). Parking can be tight, and street parking is available. Especially with the restaurant upstairs, lunch and dinner can be a hassle to find spots. I do like this store has they have bread packaged from an Asian bakery from Seattle I believe, though not a large selection. read more

I never pass up the opportunity to check out a different Korean market. I'm always willing to try new markets and see what I can find. As you walk towards the entrance there are some items in front of the store. They also have a wall of all the sale prices right before you enter the store. The market has a lot of the standard stuff you'd find at many larger Korean markets but I also found they had some things that the larger markets didn't have. They have a beauty counter with many Korean products I have not seen in other places. They have a meat and seafood section and an area with vegetables and fruits that is smaller than many of the other markets but they had all the things I needed for my recipes. They also have some prepackaged veggies in the refrigerated cases as well. As far as the banchan that they had available, it seemed a bit of a hit and miss. I bought two different kinds and one was good while the other was a bit off. The oden (fish cake) banchan was good. It tasted fresh and wasn't too oily. Now the seaweed banchan was left in very large pieces and when eating it with chopsticks it would take forever! One piece I picked up was almost a foot long! I also found that the taste of it was off. They have an area with some free samples where you can taste some of the different banchan. I suggest you give it a try. I wish they had samples of the seaweed banchan available so I wouldn't have purchased it if I tasted it first. The gimbop they make is available on a shelf across from where the banchan are. I bought two packs of two and they were really good. They were made with fish cake instead of crab but they were still really good. They used a nice amount of ingredients and didn't skimp. I wish they would have had some dipping packs with the gimbop but I just made some at home. I had to buy a box of Orion Chocopies! (Orion Chocopies are better than the Lotte ones!). I also found the sesame tea cookies I like and I bought two boxes of them. They have a lot of different kinds of Duk (rice cake) in different shapes and a large selection of oden (fish cake)! It's good to buy both of these from a Korean market because you'll get what you need verses settling for what you don't want. I would have given this market four stars but I was a little frustrated that on many items I did not see a price on the shelf or a price sticker on the item. This was also the first time in my life I didn't like the seaweed banchan from a market. I will come back again when I'm in the area. Also you have to try Spring Restaurant which is upstairs in the market. read more

This is the most legit Korean market I've found in the Portland metro area. They're not huge like Uwajimaya, H-mart, or Fubonn, but they have all the staples for making authentic Korean food, and for those short on time, they have a bomb Korean restaurant (called Spring) upstairs that overlooks the whole market. Their prices are pretty standard. expect ~$4.99/lb for short ribs and $6/lb for oxtail meat to give you an idea of their meat prices. If you need something Korean but can't find it at your standard asian market, definitely keep G-Mart in mind!!! read more

Friendly staff but overpriced. Some products in general were a bit pricey but I can't say if it's the store to blame or if prices for Korean products have gone up most stores in the area. Produce is expensive. Don't bother getting onion or ginger here, better to pick up common produce from Portland Fruit and Produce Market West on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. I was sad to only find gochugaru (chili flakes) produced in China; there were none from Korea but at least it was reasonably priced. They fully stock my favorite soy sauce (now it's $7!) but not my favorite brand of my gochujang. Both the soy sauce and gochujang are big brands too. A quart of kimchi was $8. OUCH. More $$ if you want it in the jar. The selection of ban chan was scarce. There's a limited selection of prepared foods and marinated meats. My fav is soy sauce marinated cucumbers (spicy) and seasoned black seaweed, it looks like a bunch of nori cut up and fried with soy sauce, sugar and other seasonings. They have a soju, makgeolli, sake and tea section. Coming from Oakland where $4 for a bottle of soju was reasonable, the prices here are disappointing. There's a brand of sake that I used to get for $6 or less for 1.5 liters, here it's around $10. I couldn't find barley tea and overspent on a dusty box corn tea instead. Still good but, Oregon, where's my $2.50 box of barley tea?? There's also a cosmetics and skin care product counter. Like much of the store, they have a little something of everything. I tried their 3 sunblocks and ended up buying a 50 ml tube for $27... Bright side is that I got a bunch of samples. The parking lot tends to be cramped. If you go in and there's a car stopped in the lot, waiting for a spot, you're stuck. You can't go around the car and backing up would not be safe. If you encounter that situation, there is street side parking and a lot across the street where people unofficially park. Go for: convenient location, frozen foods (especially noodles and fish/seafood) and Korean products that you can't find in most stores. However selection is limited and a few dollars more than what I'd like to pay. Also go for Spring Restaurant upstairs. read more

I usually go here to shop because it's close to home, however, last few times I've gone there, somehow they keep charging me for items I've never bought (let alone would ever purchase). First time, ok it's a mistake for $29.95 for noodles. I guess it could happen. But another time it was $31.95 for a box of cabbage, and just this week, when my wife was there, she got charged $35 for rice cakes. WTF? I would think I know if I purchased $35 worth of rice cakes. Needless to say, they keep doing this, and who knows who else keeps getting charged? and everytime I go back to cashier to ask for the refund, they make it sound like it's soo much hassle and gives me the look of 'why are you bothering me with this?' yea... I wouldn't have to, if you guys keep charging me for items i never bought. shameless practice, and I would love to believe their story that its their computer system that keeps mysteriously adding these $30+ items on my receipt, but good luck having me believe that after the 3rd time. It's not the biggest or the most merchandise but if I'm in the area, I'll stop by this Korean grocery store. It's a medium sized store and like many Korean grocery stores, they have the gambit of produce to meats to snacks and remade foods. Their produce looks pretty fresh and they have a pretty good variety of Korean items but here's the thing, they don't have prices or price stickers on at least half the items. So you're standing there guessing how much it costs or looking for similar item with a price tag. Yeah, I know...it's probably not a big deal but that kind of bugs me. I picked up a bag of dumplings excited thinking they made the items upstairs in their Spring restaurant since it had no labels and was in a clear bag. I asked the cashier and she told me no, they are not from the restaurant. So they're just selling no name, no ingredient, no priced food items? Put it back... I also picked up a yogurt drinks, and if you're like me, you don't want the entire thing. So I bought one pack which has 5 little drinks, but you can buy ones that have 20. When I got home and looked at my receipt, they charged me for the 20 even though there was a sticker over the bar code for 99 cents. Yeah, it's not a lot of money but that kind of bites. I like this place so I'll keep stopping by, but they could use a little more transparency. The workers are all nice but just check your receipts. Long rant over. read more

I love coming here for Korean groceries because it's much closer to Hillsboro than H-mart and it's also close to the new Chinese market Asian Food Mart and Uwajimaya so I can stop by more than one supermarket if I'm trying to pick up specific item from those stores. It's not the biggest supermarket but they do have most of the Korean snacks (peppero, choco pie) and drinks (banana milk, coffee milk, soju) that I like. Plus, they sell kimbap (Korean sushi rolls) ! Can't forget to mention that one of my favorite Korean restaurants Spring is also located in G-mart. read more

There's H-Mart in Tigard, in Beaverton there's G-Mart. It's smaller than H Mart, but they sell authentic Korean items (I know this because I can't read those labels on their packaging because it's in Korean). Their produce is fresh, good prices on meat and also seafood. You can find pastries, frozen items, rice, deli items, and even household goods. Don't forget to check out Spring Restaurant above this market. It's totally one stop shopping for Korean goodness. read more

Typical Asian grocery store. The veggies aren't always very fresh, probably because they're prioritizing moving more produce over keeping their selection as fresh as possible... but you can pick and choose to get reasonable options. Far and away my least favorite thing about this place is the often-grumpy checkout personnel. This seems to be a common theme in Korean grocery stores, though, so I'm not going to complain too much. Finally, for those who are shopping here to pick up just a few groceries, it's important to note that there is a minimum to use your card. Finally I found my Korean food place! But be warned, it's not cheap as Korean food in LA area. I truly have taken countless Korean restaurants in LA for granted... But for taste-wise, this place stacks up pretty well against the ones in LA. We had Tonkatsu, Tofu Kimchi, Stone Pot Bibimbap, spicy seafood udon (without soup... just udon noodle with spicy sauce fried with veggies) and Galbi-Tang. Not only I was extremely surprise by the fact that 5 of us - 3 guys and 2 girls - finished everything that was on the table, but also the quality/taste of the dishes. Side dishes were good and the servers were really helpful with giving us water and side dish refills. Food came out little late but I totally forgot about it until I started to write this review. So definitely not a big deal. Food is good, service is good, and it's little pricey... but compared to other places, it's not too bad. Definitely a fan and i will go back soon! read more

Got a nice assortment of condiments to eat along with our main meal. Wife ordered beef bulgogi and I had a spicy chicken stir fry that was delicious(forgot the name!) The best part is that you can throw together a dish or two for dinner and then supplement with any number of prepared dishes from their table in the back corner of the store! They have jap chae, green onion cakes, kim bap, and the fixings for bi bim bap (all you need to do is add the rice)...G-Mart is the perfect place for a midweek Korean dinner at home...and if there isn't time for that, there is an excellent Korean Restaurant upstairs! read more

I bought this seasoned baby octopus today, which is Oct 24th. And I'm surprised to find out that it was packed 15 days ago. But I couldn't return it because the return policy says meat, fish , produce and dairy products must be return within 2 hrs. However I found out 3 hours after I came home. So I guess I have to throw it away and never go to G mart again. So guys, make sure that you check the expiration date before you buy anything from G mart. read more

I was going to give this place 2 star, but they earned one more star just because they do (albeit VERY begrudgingly) give you a refund IF you're super nice about it - yes, I hate it and it's just wrong of them, but try getting ANY refund at H Mart in Tigard (hint: won't happen). Other reviewers mentioned this, but CHECK the price as the cashier scans the item. WATCH IT LIKE A HAWK. I have to tell you, though, that it has happened to me in all kinds of market (Safeway, New Seasons, Uwajimaya and both H Mart and G Mart), so I watch every single item being scanned every where I shop. Another tip I can give is check the expiration date - another thing I do religiously in any market because I've found expired items in every grocery store I've been to.
