I do not need glasses so do not need this test. It was done with out asking me if I wanted it and then...I was charged for it. $40. So a surprise $40 charge for something I did not need, want or ask for. An obvious mistake on the part of the staff, right? Well the billing department thinks not . I was told I should have reviewed the huge book Medicare sends with my benefits and I would have seen that refractions are not paid for. Had I looked through those hundreds of pages I would not have understood anyway as I only recently learned the word. I have never needed these tests. Nor does anyone who does want a new prescription. Nobody even apologized. While the doctor and assistant were pleasant, the support staff (billing, those who work the desk and the phone) are the opposite. We seniors deserve more respect. Instead it seems Berkshire Eye Center staff is more concerned about making money than patients.
