Like Dr Erick, IF you can get by his office staff.... one bossy rude woman. Always says you have a deductible even if you don't. Did it to my mom, 91, and also to me and another older woman I was witness to. Sent a registered letter to my mom, discontinued her care. REVIEW:After asking for a record of my prescription, which I was supposed to be given initially for my records, I was denied. Following suite, my request for my own medical records, something I am unequivocally entitled to as part of my HIPAA rights, was immediately followed by the termination of care not only for me, but also for my wife and my five-year-old son. This sequence of events strongly suggests their decision was retaliatory in nature. It is particularly troubling that my child's care was discontinued despite him having no involvement in this matter. You can see the letter sent to a five year old! Terminating treatment for a minor under these circumstances reflects poorly on this practice's judgment and raises ethical concerns. Though we found the doctor to be very good, there were repeated instances of unprofessional and dismissive behavior from their front desk staff (a trend, I see, according to other reviews). These included: -Resistance to addressing a defect in an expensive, newly purchased lens -Dismissive communication when I attempted to clarify that I had not received my prescription -A general unwillingness to acknowledge that patients are legally entitled to receive their prescriptions without needing to request them These experiences demonstrated a pattern of prioritizing administrative convenience and financial interests over patient respect and basic professional courtesy. This practice's response to a lawful records request--culminating in termination of care--only reinforced our concerns. Patients should not feel that exercising their legal rights will result in punitive action. read more

I was treated terribly from Torrington I care so I got a new Eye Doctor, seeing the new Eye Doctor I need a substantial new prescription. My insurance company will only pay for new glasses every two years or if there's a substantial change. Because there were substantial change my insurance company would pay but Torrington eyecare refuses to give my new Eye Doctor my old prescription so that I can get new eyeglasses without having to wait the two years. So they are essentially denying me better eye health due to me finding another practice. I have filed a complaint with insurance and will file a complaint with the health board read more

If you think you're paid in full at the time you leave your appointment, don't be fooled. Months later they'll start sending you bills for 10 to 30 bucks. I don't have the time in my life to first double check the reason for this extra expense or to be sending out checks for 10 dollars months after an appointment. Honestly with what I'm paying there for glasses, I'm sure the same glasses are half this price elsewhere, if it's 10 to 30 bucks, just eat it really. Stop inconveniencing your patients like this and sending a 30 dollar bill to collections. Never going back there or recommending to anyone. I am leaving this practice immediately. Their customer service skills are non-existent. I asked for a return call back from billing and was told that she may not be able to return my call. As a patient, I feel it is my right to discuss bills. My husband went for an annual eye examination and it was coded as medical. If the visit was coded as annual this insurance would pay, however, the coding made it hit my deductible. I have never had this issue with any other provider and I am so sorry I made the switch. When I asked to speak to a Manager, the staff member hung up. I called back and was then told she would give the message to the Manager which is what she should have said in the first place before ending the call. read more

Will not recommend this business. My husband went to see E. Sirignano back in December. He was not listening to his patient. Quick to sell him glasses and no follow up. Went to see another eye doctor, and then he sent him to a specialist. Long story short he will have a tumor removed that is pressing on his optic nerve. read more

Extremely poor customer service. They call and remind you of your appointment a whole month before hand (what doctors office does that?); probably so they can get the additional missed appointment fee. This is NOT the office that Dr. Peace and Dr. DeAngelo ran. The message I received on my phone was extremely rude!! Sorry, but I think my family medical emergency was more important than my eye appointment - where is your compassion! As well, over the last couple years we have not been impressed with Dr. Yang - doesn't seem to remember notes from last year appointment; just don't feel like we get thorough exam. As well, when we got the eye scripts for glasses - we looked at their glasses and got price and thought they were very high. Took the eye scripts to another eye glass business and found out that Torr. Eye Care didn't even take off the insurance portion to purchase the glasses - needless to say we purchased glasses at the other business. While looking at the this site regarding this business, I noticed that the Doctor or Renee (staff) are making replies; honestly that just shows how little class this eye care business has dropped too. Seriously, I would recommend avoiding the place - which is what I am hearing from other patients that went there as well. read more

Went in for new glasses and after bringing them back once I still can't use them for computer work. They told me I would be put on a list and they would call me in to meet with the DR. and after weeks they never called. Not sure but their eye scan and the Dr.s exam that reported that there might be a medical problem turned out wrong. A retina specialist found noting wrong. I have never actually gone here, but had such a bad experience over the phone I thought it might be worth recording. I recently got vision insurance through my job and called Torrington Eye Care to see if they accepted it. A hostile woman named Renee answered the phone. I told her who the insurance company was and she had never heard of them. She asked who my health insurance company was, I told her, and she quickly said, "Ok, we don't take that. Sorry! Have a nice day!!" And tried to rush me off the phone. I said, "My eye insurance is separate from my health, as I told you at the beginning of the call..." To which she said, "Well I never heard of them. Call them and get more information." And that was that. The next place I called also had never heard of my insurance company but immediately offered to call them and find out if they were accepted, which has been my normal experience when there are insurance questions. Renee just seemed rude and lazy, but I'm actually glad, because now I get to receive eyecare from a company with friendly and helpful staff. read more
