Yummie M.

Wonderful place for learning, growing, healing and relaxing. Amazing food that has changed the way I think of food entirely. The staff is kind and living and helpful. I'll definitely be back!

Lonny Jarrett's reputation precedes him within the professional acupunturist world. He has written…read more3 tomes on Traditional Chinese Medicine that delve deeply into the spiritual realms as well as the practical knowledge needed to practice acupuncture in the traditional manner. That is not a "cult" but a following of both patients and practitioners based on Lonny's dedication to his life's work. In other words, he knows his stuff. Asking detailed questions about bodily functions, diet, sleep, personal habits and more, builds a picture that is essential to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) because TCM is a holistic approach. We wish western medicine was as thorough. Someone as knowledgeable and experienced as Lonny is a gift to the world of healthcare as a preventative, an adjunct to healing, and guidance to maintain health. Ask him about his Tiger Wand

After filling out lots of detailed paperwork, I sat in Lonny Jarrett's office and answered his many…read morequestions. Some questions were invasive and uncomfortable ("what are your bowel movements like?") but I answered gamely and honestly. I told myself, "He's here to help. He wants a full picture." I'd been told he was a brilliant acupuncturist, and I wanted to have a good acupuncturist. So I continued to answer questions: my diet, my menstrual cycle, my sleeping habits. Then Mr. Jarrett peered at me and said: "Are you aware that you are yelling?" It was a question tinged with condescension. I was not yelling. I had not much raised my voice. It felt like a trap, like a move he's done a zillion times on more vulnerable patients, likely more on women. There was something mind-effy about it. Maybe even with a tiny smidge of sexist sadism. Ten years ago, I would have said, "I'm sorry! Did I raise my voice a little? I didn't mean to!" Even if I knew I hadn't raised my voice. I would have been ashamed, embarrassed, shamed, flushed with awkward remorse. But maybe the benefit of being a little older is to recognize a micro-aggression for what it is. I said evenly, "I'm not yelling. And if I sound a tad tense, it's because this is kind of scary and uncomfortable to me. I am in a vulnerable position here, as a new patient. This is your office, your practice, and you have more power than I do in this situation. So maybe I am responding to those dynamics." He tried for awhile to say he hadn't meant to be imperious/judgmental/condescending but didn't really change the tone. By the end of the appointment, my feeling was: I am not going back. I haven't returned.

I first met Karden Rabin at Radiance Yoga on North street in Pittsfield after hearing great things…read moreabout his Monday night MELT class. After the class I felt a lot less body tightness and pain, but chatted with him about lower back pain that had been ongoing for 4 years. He informed me that he had a studio in West Stockbridge where he does body work and massage. I ended up making an appointment not having any idea what to expect. I won't try to expain what he did but after pointing out that I stand crooked he did some poking and prodding in different spots. I then stood and I was standing much straighter. I was good for about 3 days and my back went back to being sore. Being that my back had been hurt for 4 years I wasn't expecting a miracle so I went back and saw him again explaining my back was still locking up. Karden taught me a few more things after working on my muscles poking and prodding again. I am now aware of why my back was hurting and I'm more aware of body and how I carry myself. It's been about a week since my second visit and I've had no back pain at all, and in fact with the things he taught me I decided to try to get back to deadlifting which I had stayed away from for nearly a year. To my surprise, not only was I able to do some deadlifting pain free I broke my personal record pulling 405lbs with not even the slightest amount of pain. I can not say enough about the amazing work Karden does. I would recommend anyone having chronic body pain to go see Karden, it might just change your life.

There's just too many places in the area with high prices and then they add 20% mandatory tip on top of that. This place is the real deal, just try it once and you'll know what I mean. AND after your treatment you can go around the block to Six Depot for great food and great people.

This is both our first time getting acupuncture done and we still continue to come as a duo. The first appointment is an assessment he does and also reads the palms of your hands. He even asks you to stick your tongue out. If you don't know, he's big into eastern medicine and has so much knowledge. You can def tell he has a passion and continues to share his knowledge by traveling all over for work. The experience was worth it, he focuses on your main concern, and by the end of the appt; for me, I am super relaxed. He has so much info about Chinese medicine and will suggest some things if needed. You can either try it out or pass, it's really up to you. He never pressures you into buying anything if you don't want to. I love that fact that he has a passion for what he does. It's always nice to see him. Please do give him a follow on his page and contact him for services. You will not be disappointed. I've recommended so many people to him and they all love it! I hear so much good feedback. Thanks Jampa, for always accommodating to me, and making sure you get us in. We will continue to see him

And, they offer a plethora of other healing services from which to choose. The actual space is lovely with an ample retail shop filled with photographs done by the owner. They have a little bit of everything, including books (saw one of my beloved first teacher Paramahansa Yogananda), jewelry, Young's essences and Chinese herbs. I am sure they will become a local anchor of light. My wish is for them to strengthen and expand into a true community center for like minded individuals on the path to learning who they really are and a place for those of us old souls to gather and break down the old construct.

Lori somehow strikes a balance between total professionalism and friendly, personalized service. I thoroughly look forward to my visits for the following reasons: * Expertly performed acupuncture - Lori's expertise in this practice is obvious while observing her at work, and also in my wellness experience (pain reduction, vitality, fertility) * Relaxing on a warm bed with cozy sheets, hand pillows, heat lamps, wave sounds * Painless needle application - I've been to other top-notch acupuncturists and none have had Lori's gentle touch with the needles. No wincing here! * Genuine care and interest in my well-being, which is carefully documented and informs treatment * Hilarious, insightful and educational chat during treatment- it feels like visiting a good pal * Availability of quality supplements and nutritional products to support healing (but no sales pressure) * A helpful approach to navigating my health insurance to optimize treatment If you're trying to get pregnant, or really have any health concern, make Lori your first stop. I couldn't recommend her more highly!
