    Beer Tour
    Kelsey B.

Looking for a fun adventure to do in Vancouver with friends and family? I finally went on my very first Beer Tour this past weekend with Canadian Craft Tours and it was such a fun time! Canadian Craft Tours brings you on Beer, Wine & Distillery tours around Vancouver and across the Lower Mainland on evenings and weekends. Get behind the scenes tours, inside scoop, tastings and a designated driver all to yourself for a few hours! I'm a huge craft beer fan and have been immersing myself more and more into the industry, but had never had a private tour of a brewery before, just a quick peek here and there. This company has so many different options too, from beer tours, wine tours, and food tours. They are also all over BC and even Alberta, from Victoria and Calgary, the Okanagan and even Whistler. With so many options you can try a new tour each week! For example, they have about 6 different beer tours just in the Lower Mainland area! Choose from a Port Moody Brewer's Row tour, a walking tour, one at the fun spots in North Van, a brewery and distillery combo tour, and more! The Wine tour looks super fun and jam packed and even includes a cheese and charcuterie lunch!!!! Whaaa wine and cheese? They have a few different food tours like the Dim Sum Chinatown tour, Japanese Food tour, Coffee tour and of course you can't forget the Granville Island tour, which has a booze option! I want to try all 4! We started off the night at our meeting spot at 999 Canada Place, everyone was ready to go in a comfy van with our driver and tour guide excited to start! Let me just start off by mentioning that our tour guide was a rock star, really cool guy that was sociable, joined in the social chit chat fun, but also gives you space to chat with those you came with which is nice. He had answers to most of our silly questions and overall was a fun guy. It was awesome having a designated driver, much better than asking one friend to stay sober! Our first stop was Bomber Brewing. I must say, I have been there before, but this experience made me like this brewery a whole lot more. We got a private tour of the brewery paired with a fun tasting of some delicious beers including their Pilsner, Marzen, Porter and more! Our next stop was Andina Brewing. I have been to about 80% of the breweries in the Lower Mainland so was excited to visit a new one on my adventure, and this was by far my favorite. They had such a fun interior with some amazing decor. Not to mention they had my favorite beers. We had a quick tour of the brewery followed by a table full of beer flights. We got to try their Blonde IPA, Guava Saison, Lemon Drop Sour and more! I was a huge fan of all their beers! Lastly we went to Strathcona Beer Company. I previously wasn't a fan of this brewery but have changed my mind on this one also! The food was deeelicious, we all ordered pizza's and they were top notch. We had a quick tour of the brewery and some more flights. We got to try their Seasonal Radler, Pilsner, Pale Ale, and more! The beers were pretty good, and it was nice sitting at their long table. With so many tours to choose from you will guaranteed have a good time and find a slot for you and your friends and family to go on an adventure! They also have private tours for your group bookings so check them out for more deets!

Pemberton Distillery - Schramm Vodka is a classic sipping style vodka - with full floral aroma. Not too many vodkas out there you can actually nose!

At the end of October when I went, they're only open Friday and Saturday afternoons. Our experience there was super chill. We rang the door and someone let us in. I forgot his name, but he was one of the brothers behind the operation. He then introduced us to their liquors and we picked which ones we wanted to try. We tried a variety of liquors, including their vodka, ginger and honey, coffee, scotch, apple brandy, and kartoffelschnaps. Our favorite was the vodka, as it's one of the smoothest vodka's I've ever tried. The coffee liquor was also very good if you're a coffee drinker, but I personally am not a huge fan of the coffee taste. We bought a bottle of the vodka, scotch, and ginger and honey liquor away with us. Prices were reasonable. For example, a 750 ml bottle of vodka was $35. You can also take a couple steps into their distillery space. We went in to take a look and also was given a high level introduction to their distilling process.

They've got the international awards to prove it. 2010 Double Gold and Spirit of the Year in the recent World Spirit Awards. The distillery tour is well worth the $6 as you get a personal view of where all the potato magic happens. Tyler and Lorien are gracious hosts and are full of boozy knowledge. Oh, and of course there's a healthy sized tasting post-tour at the bar with your very own Schramm's glass. The word on the Pemberton street is that Tyler is concocting a small batch of Organic Single Malt Whisky this summer. But unfortunately, we will have to wait a few more years to sample this barrel of local gold. Damn you Oak Casks!

Very bad business practice…read more We booked a 3pm tour. It was the last day that we are in Vancouver, we would be flying home that night. At 1:45pm, after we have planned our whole day around the excursion and checked out of the hotel in preparation of this tour, Sea Vancouver office called and said they are cancelling my tour because they "need a minimum of 4 people and only 3 people booked". I explained that we are leaving the city that day, and we planned our whole day around this, and if there is anything they can do. It is unreasonable to only notify me 75 minutes prior to departure time - we were already on the way to the departure point! The only thing they said was that they will refund me in full (I'd better hope so since you cancelled it with incredibly short notice!) I understand that it may not be economical to operate a tour based on fixed cost, but this was NOT written anywhere when I booked it on the official website, but they were happy to take my money when I booked. The confirmation email stated "We reserve the right to delay or cancel a departure for events beyond our control (e.g. adverse weather conditions, technical or mechanical issues, etc.)" -- well, operating a boat when there are "only" 3 paying customers is definitely in their control, they just choose to screw over their customers. This has put a really sour taste on my trip to Vancouver. I would encourage everybody to stay away.

This was our first time in Vancouver, and whats not a better way to experience it than by taking a boat tour! We honestly planned this boat tour super last minute, so we called a few places, but they were all closed. Fortunately, Sea Vancouver still had tours going out until 7pm which was the last one! The lobby is located in the Westin hotel and the ride is 90 minutes long, which takes you all around the harbor of Vancouver to the English Bay! There was so much to see at the waterfront and we even saw a few dolphins along the ride! We were hoping for orcas too but maybe next time haha. Overall the boat tour was absolutely amazing! Terry our captain, made the experience super educational a fun! Love that guy! Thanks Cap! And thank you Sea Vancouver!
