I was referred to Willamette Valley Endodontics through my primary dental provider and ODS Dental…read morefor a root canal and permanent filling. I traveled all the way from Portland for my initial appointment and had expressed at that time that I require a trauma informed level of care due to having severe PTSD. The provider I met with had absolutely zero understanding of what trauma informed care is or how to provide it. When attempting to explain my need for this specific level of care, it was merely called into question instead of respected and or accommodated. My wife attempted to contact their office as well, in an effort to explain the severity of my PTSD symptoms and request an appropriate level of care and/or a collaborative approach with my primary care provider to ensure my needs were met accordingly. Instead of finding a way to assist in proceeding forward, they told my wife that they do not; or are not willing to accommodate my needs. As my PTSD diagnosis is a disability and falls under ADA protections, I am absolutely appalled at not only their professed inability to provide an appropriate level of care but the manner in which they so poorly navigated the request. The office staff was extremely rude and unwilling to assist in finding a viable and appropriate option for me to recieve the care I need at their practice. As a retired provider, I am beyond disappointed in their lack of professionalism and/or ability to serve individuals with disabilities in an ethical and appropriate manner. As a patient, I am absolutely devastated by the inability of this office to meet my needs or even express any concern regarding my care.

On Friday, May 23, knowing we are about to go into a three day holiday weekend I was panicked…read morecalling around, trying to get in to see an endodontist because the day before I had gone to an emergency dentist for some really bad pain and they told me I needed a root canal to treat a broken tooth. I had never had a root canal or anything like this before so I was navigating this very painful and very scary thing for the first time. I must've called 20 different offices trying to get some relief because Friday morning when I woke up, the pain was excruciating. I called the Oregon Endodontic Group and I was lucky enough to get Emily in the office on the phone. Knowing they had a packed schedule, heading into an extended holiday weekend she put me on hold two different times in attempt to help me. She was unable to guarantee me anything, but told me she would take my Information and call me if someone canceled. After many more calls, my phone rang and it was Emily. She told me she couldn't guarantee me a root canal, but that she would figure something out and told me to head down and that they would try to squeeze me in, in-between appointments. As I called many places desperately seeking help, I didn't get anyone to give me the time of day, but she (Emily) had clearly put in extra work and care to help me. As a result, she was able to get me in a chair and eventually evaluated by the Endodontist. Dr. Tarsa suggested I have the tooth extracted as she felt like there was a good chance it couldn't be saved. I actually had an appointment with another endodontist to have the root canal done on Tuesday but Dr. Tarsa clearly had my best interests at heart which I viewed as showing honesty and integrity. She doesn't do extractions so I was worried about having to wait through the weekend again as I would need to see an oral surgeon for this. Emily was back in my corner calling surgeons trying to get me in. Finally, she got an oral surgeon across town to agree to squeeze me in which was a miracle. I went across town to Three Rivers Oral Surgery and they got me in right before they closed (they stayed late for me). In a world where it is sometimes a challenge to find someone that truly care's for the customer, Emily was my savior. I could tell during my first phone call to the office. She wanted to help me. I don't actually think anyone canceled, I think she continued to advocate for me after my call and promptly called me back. If it wasn't for her, it would've been a painful and rough weekend for me. Instead, I had a pain-free wonderful weekend with my family. Words can't describe how much I appreciate her care and efforts to help me. If everyone in the medical industry had office personnel like her the world would be a better place. From the bottom of my heart Emily, thank you.

Who wants a root canal? I think we can safely assume that no one really wants one…read more That said, I've had four over a couple of decades, most recently yesterday. I had been putting it off for almost a year but knew that the longer I delayed, the more problems might crop up. I called Endoconic Specialty Group in Gresham on Tuesday. They schedule me for a consultation the next day. After going over the process and answering all of my questions, I was able to schedule the procedure for the same day as the office had a cancellation for later in the afternoon Everyone in the office was courteous and efficient. X-rays were taken to make sure everyone knew what was ahead and I was perfectly numbed by Dr. Vaughan. (I've never had such a totally painless experience.) A protective dam was installed to help with keeping it all clean and I was offered an option when I initally tensed up at the process. (I have a pretty strong gag reflex but the dental assistant worked gently and slowly, making sure I was comfortable with the device as she installed it.) The process took about an hour. I used my earbuds and music to distract me while they drilled away. I had mentioned problems that I had endured during previous root canals and it appears that Dr. Vaughan was able to get the job done without a recurrence of these problems. I was given specific post-op instructions on pain management and we discussed when I should call my regular dentist to schedule crown prep and cleaning -- in a couple of weeks. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. I would recommend this office to anyone needing a professional and painless root canal. One day later, I have no pain. Thank you.
