Our group of 8 friends booked the excursion with the cenote and sea turtle snorkeling recently. Booking was easy through Viator, a bit pricey but worth the experience. We were picked up from our resort right at 7 am and then we made our way to the Cancun Adventures office to wait for two other couples from other resorts. This ended up taking quite a bit of time, but thankfully there is a coffee shop next door where we got some caffeine and a snack. They did offer us cold bottled water and bananas on the bus (I would bring extra snacks because by the time we finished at the cenote I was starving and had to pay $6 for a small bag of chips at the cenote). The bus was pretty crowded with 12 people, and driving back into the jungle to the cenote was VERY bumpy. Be sure to take some dramamine if you get car sick! Omar was our guide and he was amazing. He told us about the area of Mexico we were in, and talked about the cenotes and what we could expect at each stop. Once we got to the cenote, we were offered a Mayan blessing, showered off, and headed into the cenote. They do not allow any photos or devices in the cenote. (They provide a locker for your stuff.) Once you get into the cenote they take your photos, which was kitschy and VERY expensive ($50 for one photo), but I get it's part of the tour. I absolutely loved the cenote experience itself - it was so cool to learn about and Omar's background in biology made it very informative. This part was about an hour, then you could shop a bit (they are pretty pushy but you can politely decline). Then we headed on to the snorkeling portion. I personally don't really love snorkeling, but it was fun to see the turtles! We saw about 4 or 5, but it was a bit chaotic with other groups everywhere. Then we headed to the beach club for lunch. This private beach was peaceful and the food was delicious. I personally loved the beef burrito. Mix the hibiscus and lemonade half and half for a tasty beverage. There are some areas to relax and changing rooms, so bring dry clothes to change into if you want. Pack a towel! Overall the tour took much longer than I was expecting, so be sure to plan for that if you have a dinner reservation or other evening plans. But I loved the experience and Omar was awesome. read more

Catamaran tour! This was so much fun! Cancun Adventures came and picked us up at the hotel, drove us waaay across town to a beach, where we boarded a catamaran, which took us to and from Isla Mujeres, while they jammed American rock music, and served up free beer and tequila shots. Along the way, we stopped at the underwater museum, where we snorkeled up to some of the artwork, and took in the sights of bright, vibrant coral reefs and amazing fish. On board, they served up sandwiches, and sweets, and snacks. The staff was super friendly, and got through the drunk as touristas as fast as possible. They provided all the equipment needed for snorkeling. There were more people on board than expected. I'd say maybe 65 people on board each catamaran. It wasn't exactly a private tour. read more

Wow, we loved this! We did the excursion with a cenote and sea turtle snorkel. The guides were informative, fun, and safe. The cenote was gorgeous and such a cool experience. There were a ton of people at the sea turtle snorkel area, but we were able to see several turtles up close while following the guides' rules to keep the turtles safe. Our tour also included lunch at a beach club, which was a nice size serving of tacos, burritos or ceviche. At this site, there were also clean restrooms and several places to lounge and enjoy the views. read more

Tulum, Snorkel with Turtles & Cenote Excursion During our trip to Cancun in July, We booked the Tulum, Snorkel with Turtles, and Cenote tour through our hotel with Cancun Adventures, and it was such an unforgettable experience! We were picked up early at 6:45 AM and joined a group of about 15 people. Honestly, our group was amazing , everyone got along so well that it felt like we were traveling with friends. Having great people and great guides really makes a difference on excursions like this. Our tour guides, Juan and Rene, were phenomenal! Juan, especially, stood out as one of the best tour guides I've ever had. He was super knowledgeable, funny, personable, and kept the energy high throughout the day. He managed the schedule well and could read the room, moving us along when he sensed we were ready, without making us feel rushed. First Stop: Tulum We visited the archaeological site and learned about Mayan culture while exploring the ancient ruins. It was fascinating and beautiful. Juan explained the history clearly and made it engaging. Afterward, we had time for some tequila tasting and shopping. Second Stop: Cenote The cenote was absolutely stunning -- clear blue water, cool caves, and even bats flying around. Juan shared the cultural and natural history of the cenote before we took a dip. Everyone must rinse off before entering and wear a life jacket, which keeps the environment clean and safe. A heads-up: you cannot bring your phone or GoPro, even with a waterproof case. They have staff photographers, but the photos are very expensive , $100 for the full set, or $50 for just a few individual shots. Some photos were blurry and unedited, so the price didn't feel justified. If pictures are important to you, keep this in mind before booking. Third Stop: Snorkeling with Sea Turtles This was the highlight for me! A small boat took us out into the ocean, where we jumped in and followed our guides to search for sea turtles. I saw several, and it was so cool to be that close in their natural habitat. You're not allowed to touch the turtles, you have to swim above them (to avoid contact with marine life), and the guides did a great job keeping things respectful and safe. Bring a waterproof phone case if you want to try to grab any personal footage while on the boat! Final Stop: Beach Club Lunch After all the activity, we had lunch at their beach club. The food was delicious, I had the chicken tacos and loved them. They also gave us Amaranth bars (which tasted like chocolate Rice Krispies) and Mexican coffee, both were surprisingly tasty treats to end the trip. Tips Before You Go: -Bring a change of clothes, towel, and extra snacks (they provide water and breakfast bars in the van, but more never hurts). -Pack sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a waterproof phone case. -The van rides can be a bit long and the vans are small, so if you're tall or have long legs -- brace yourself. -Bring a portable charger and maybe a book for the longer stretches between stops -Double-check what's included -- some packages include breakfast or lunch, others don't. -Don't feel pressured to buy souvenirs unless you truly want them. Overall: This was an awesome, well-organized, and fun-filled adventure. The mix of culture, nature, and ocean fun made it a perfect day trip. I would absolutely book with Cancun Adventures again. Amazing experience. I went back in January for my bday. I was picked up from my hotel and transferred over to another bus. The whole time, our guides were very informative and friendly. When we got there. Cold drinks and towels were passed out and we were shown around, getting brief history and geographical information. After being shown around, we were able to roam around some more before leaving to our next stop. It was a small local/beautiful town where we were served food and drinks. The tequila I tasted was so good and sweet, I ended up purchasing a bottle. We walked around at a nearest park before bussing it back to Cancun. I went on a tour through Carnival with Cancun adventures. It was a tour that went to the Turtle Sanctuary, a Cenote and a beach club with lunch. Our guide, Jessica, was amazing. I will say overall, the tour was awesome. I did not love the turtle portion because it was overcrowded and they required everyone to wear life jackets in very shallow water. People kicked up sand and blocked others from seeing the turtles when there were any. I wouldn't do that again. The cenote was the absolute best part of the tour. It was beautiful. We got lucky to arrive when a bunch of people were leaving so only our group was there. I do think it's stupid you cannot bring cameras or GoPros, mainly because they want you to buy their photos. They took horrible photos that I had to edit afterwards, but they also sent a bunch of photos of the cenote as well. The last part was about an hour at the beach club with 5 choices to choose for lunch. I went for the shrimp ceviche. It was exceptional and the margaritas were delicious! The beach was gorgeous but not enough chairs for everyone. Again, overall, great. Jessica was amazing. read more

Went on the cenote tour and the swimming with sea turtles excursions through carnival cruise and while those were both fine, the ride on the van was unacceptable. We probably spent 2 hours driving over crappy Mexican roads. Out tour guide (who was obnoxious) jokingly referred to it as a Mayan massage, but it mostly just hurt in the cramped van with broken ac. Part of the tour is driving and extra 30-40 minutes back to their restaurant on the beach (where you can't get in the water) but this unesscary and wasteful stop prevented me from visiting Cozumel during my stay. Just book with another company or go to a resort in Cozumel. read more

Our excursion to Isle Mujeres off the northern coast of Cancun was incredible, well choreographed and rehearsed to perfection. I enjoyed the shuttle drivers, sailing vessel, the itinerary, amenities, port and especially the staff. There's isn't much they could improve about the experience but it would be nice to have a map of the island or a customer service kiosk for questions or emergencies. What was most disappointing is they share excursion participants resort information to merchants at the general store near which your directed into near docking. It was very overwhelming and wasted one hours time from enjoying the island. The scam is the merchant saying "hi, do you remember me from "your resort ", I'm off today but helping my family out on the island at their retail shop". In addition, if you snorkel I recommend being proficient at this adventure but if it was your first time like mine the staff is helpful which made for a safe and overall pleasant experience. Lastly, I highly suggest renting a taxi rather then a golf cart on the island but if you do rent a cart I suggest the 2hr rental as 1hr isn't enough time to drive to the Mayan Ruins, enjoy The Sur or enjoy hiking. read more

Fun Girls' Trip with Cancun Adventures--One Standout, Two Letdowns A few of my girlfriends and I booked three tours with Cancun Adventures while visiting Tulum: the Taco Tasting Tour, the Chichen Itza Tour, and the Sunset Cruise. Overall, the company has friendly staff and some nice offerings, but two of the tours didn't quite match what was advertised. Chichen Itza Tour Our guide was knowledgeable, and the site itself was incredible. But the heat was intense, and it didn't seem like there was much thought given to guest comfort--especially for the older folks in the group. The biggest issue was the transportation on the way back. The route changed unexpectedly, and some people were dropped off at a gas station to switch vans. We even passed our hotel before circling back. It felt disorganized and a bit chaotic--not the kind of ending you want after a long, hot day. Taco Tasting Tour This one had so much potential. The first stop was great--tasty food, good energy, and a fun start. But the next two stops missed the mark. At one point, we were seated at a small table on a sidewalk right next to the road, and the food just wasn't impressive. The last stop didn't redeem it either. The tour started strong, but it didn't carry through. Sunset Cruise Absolutely the highlight of all three. The experience was smooth from start to finish--beautiful views, great music, and a fun, relaxing vibe. Our guide Selena was amazing. She kept the energy high and made sure everyone was having a great time. If you're going to book one tour with Cancun Adventures, this is the one. Final Thoughts Our group had a good time overall, and the people at Cancun Adventures were kind and professional. But only one of the three tours really lived up to expectations. The Sunset Cruise with Selena was everything we hoped for--easy, beautiful, and memorable. The others? Not quite what we signed up for. read more

This was a great service and perfect way to spend an entire day. We opted for the adults 4 1/2 hour excursion which began with a shuttle picking us up from the hotel zone. Once we arrived there was a little gift shop and bakery on site. Our guide for the day was Antonio, who did a great job leading the group and narrating the history and key sites of the area. The initial ride is short to the first snorkeling spot, where we saw dozens of different fish species, some underwater statues, and even a sea turtle! You have to be at least an average swimmer since the snorkeling is not congregated in one area, but rather you jump off the boat and swim for around 25-30 minutes until the boat picks you up further down the water. for those not up to snorkeling there were snacks and unlimited bar drinks. After the first snorkel the boat headed closer to the island and the crew provided sandwiches (you have your choice between turkey, chicken, ham, or vegetarian). We had one more opportunity to swim before making it to the island. You get around 2 hours to explore the island so I recommend researching the day before what you'd like to do. We opted to walk around the shops and do a little swimming before grabbing lunch at the black pearl. Overall it was a great day and amazing service by our captain, crew, and guide Antonio! For those who are worried about sea sickness- I am usually prone to sea sickness but had no issues since it was shorter stints of boat travel, smooth water, and fresh open air! read more

BUYER BEWARE! We went on the cenote, turtle and beach club tour. I will say our guide was wonderful. However their policies do not let you take your phone/ camera. You are NOT allowed to take your own photos. They want to sell you pictures, fine- if it was a reasonable price... After the cenote they wanted $240USD for our group photos!!!! We declined. After I returned home I was really wishing we had a few pictures from the excursion. So I emailed their customer service team. At first they had me mixed up with another couple that had 26 pictures and agreed to sell them at $30USD. Great! When they realized we were a different group they told me they took 146 pictures and I would have to pay $120USD. I kindly let them know I do not need 146 pictures I would like the first agreed upon deal of 20-30 pictures for $30USD. At that point nothing they said made sense. "We can't do that, we have set pricing." No you don't! Our pictures were $240USD on site and $120USD in email! How is that set pricing? You are just price gouging the tourists! They were also telling me that I couldn't select 20-30 pictures because they couldn't watermark them all. Then is the next email that stated if I want individual pictures it would be $20USD per photo. So if I were willing to pay $20USD for 1 picture how would I select it if they can't watermark them all? Overall I'd give the excursion a C-. They cenote was a once in a life time experience if you don't mind cold water, swimming in a dark cave with bats everywhere. The turtle experience was nothing like the pictures. The boat takes you out a few hundred yards, dodging snorkeling tourists everywhere along the way. The water is cloudy and visibility was not great. It is just a sand bottom with not much to see such as fish or coral or anything. We swam back to shore and did see 6 turtles, but it really wasn't worth the price. We won't be using Cancun Adventures in the future and I am really sad that they are holding our family picture hostage like this. I make a yearly photo album every year since my kids were born and this experience should be in there, but it will not be due to their price gouging and unreasonable customer service support. read more

He seemed like he really enjoyed educating us about caves, turtles, Mexico in general and the importance of preserving wildlife and respecting nature. We attended the luxury sailing and snorkeling experience with Cancun Adventures. Our driver was very punctual for pick up at our resort and only had one other resort pick up five minutes away. The drive to Puerto Adventuros was short and our driver let us connect to bluetooth within the car to help time go by faster. When arriving to the marina, the check in process for our specific excursion was easy and organized. We were directed to the boat, told the itinerary of the excursion, and how we would find our driver after. Once on the boat, we had wished the crew was more organized with getting our group prepared for our sailing departure as the ride to the snorkel site was 45 minutes and we were left standing to the side. Once at the snorkel site, we had all gear given to us, went in the water and were directed to areas for prime viewing. All excursions will tell one they will see a lot of sea life but it is always dependent on the day. We saw some fish and coral reef but between salt water in your breathing spout and goggles fogging up. They did, however, do a great job of leading the group in the water and ensuring we were all safe. When back on the boat, we enjoyed a small lunch, drinks, laying out, or additional water activities (paddle boarding or floating around). Our sail back was amazing as we sat up top by the sails. We liked the experience overall outside of some small details. Tip: put sunscreen on before you get to boat as application right before snorkeling is not allowed to protect the coral reef. Tip: let crew know any allergies at beginning of sail so they can accommodate. Tip: our excursion was listed as 4 hours plus travel time and we were gone for a total of 7 hours. I was able to do the Chichén Itzá Express with Lalo and Dennys. Lalo was our tour guide and HE LOVES everything about Mexico. He is super informed about the history of Chichén Itzá and I wouldn't ask for any other guide. He was amazing. Dennys was our driver and he got us there and back safely. They are a great duo with the jokes, history and playing games with us during our 2 and half hour trek. They were able to pick me up at my hotel at 6:30am and I was with a group of 11 people. They drove us to the infamous 5th Ave as we picked up the other riders and gave us a history about the famous street. I would definitely book again. The Express was about a 2.5 hour tour and that was honestly enough because it was SOOOOO HOT. There are many local vendors there and they sell the items for super inexpensive like $1 and they also take cards. And the price for the tour also provided us lunch at a beautiful restaurant next to Chichén Itzá, I think it's called Chichén Itzá restaurant. They had dancers and singers. it was authentic food. They also have a gift shop as well. Great time with great people. read more

They claimed we no showed. If only this were a murder case, because there are dozens of people who walked past us and there's a ton of security footage showing us sitting in the lobby waiting for the tour operator to show. Alas, when we contacted them to ask where they were, they claimed we been the no show, not them. They then "offered" to have us race down to the docks to meet the boat, though round trip transportation to/from our hotel was a significant portion of the price difference between the tour we booked and the tour where you just race to the docks on your own without the arrangement to pick up and drop off at the hotel. The tour was from 6:30 am until about 3:30. That gave us about 2 hours at Chichen Itza and an hour for lunch before the drive back. I apologize for making the rookie mistake of forgetting names but I think the guides name was Raphael. Both the guide and driver were fantastic! We really enjoyed our trip on the catamaran! The staff made us feel very safe and were quite attentive. " We stopped for snorkeling about 1/2 hour into the trip. Saw lots of fish - trumpet fish, turtles, snapper, gray angelfish, triggerfish, etc. Safety was always first for the crew. But then...Open Bar" is truly an open bar! After snorkeling, the crew constantly asked if we wanted a refill. We went swimming near Isla Mujeres in crystal clear blue water. Very relaxing. After the swim we got to spend about 2 hours on Isla Mujeres. A bit of a tourist trap but enjoyable nonetheless. The staff (especially Miguel) was very helpful in answering questions and directing us to the best places of interest and to places that would not rip us off. Will do it again. read more

Wonderful trip with Jorge. He gets 10 stars He was constantly attentive and offered food, drinks, and expert tips to create a perfect trip around Isla Mujeres. From handling the crowds, to negotiating purchases, navigating the island, and getting the best views. It was an awesome view of the sunset leaving at 2:15 and returning at 7 PM. The catamaran was clean and everything well organized. Sails were hoisted on the return. Even with the wind and rolling sea a little bit early for Spring (to avoid crowds), it was smooth sailing. My only complaint was photography. Nothing in the water and he was very flirtatious with all the ladies in bikinis-- understandable! However, he took over 45 photos of them, and only 7 of my family. Each photo was $45- seriously, 1 photo! Most of ours were exactly the same photo. The 40 he took of single women, were cute instagram worthy. He had them pose and told them what to do to creat beautiful pictures. A bummer, considering the expense. We had plenty of our own photos though, so not a big deal. We stayed at El Dorado Seaside Suites and booked the 4-hour catamaran tour through the Lomas Hospitality rep on site. The shuttle to the dock was convenient and relatively quick. We had a crew of Celine, Enrique, Chili, Joe, and Mario on our boat and they all did a great job making sure everyone was safe and had enough food and beverage throughout the entire trip. The seas were a bit rougher, so while we were able to anchor to snorkel, we were not able to anchor closer to shore to spend time at the beach. That said, we did anchor at a small cove closer to the dock where many other boats were. We all gathered on the rafts at the back of the boat and the water was 4-5 deep, making it feel like an afternoon at the sandbar of your favorite lake. Again, the staff kept the drinks flowing uninterrupted. My only issue, and has NOTHING to do with the crew, was that a catamaran "rocks" with the waves as opposed to "cutting" through like a conventional boat. This was the first time I had the onset of seasickness, so I would recommend getting some meds if you think you may get ill. Excellent Tour with Cancun Adventures! We did the Tulum Yalku Plus Tour which included Mayan Ruins at Tulum, Cenote Snorkeling , Yal Ku Snorkeling adventure looking at several species of fish and then end up at beach front lunch! We did a half day trip to Tulum with our guide Jessica while we were staying at the the Iberostar Beach. Had a great time, weather sucked but other than that it was fun. She is really knowledgeable about the ruins of Tulum and was excited to answer every question that was thrown at her. She also offered advice on how to deal with some of the vendors that were being a bit to pushy. That for the great job Jessica. read more
