I was sad to be at the airport because it meant my vacation was over. Despite this, I have to say this airport was pretty organized. There were plenty of kiosks to check in for the flight, get bag tags and boarding passes. There were a lot of people flying so the lines for the airline was super long. We made it to security and short lines again. Once in the terminal, I like the fact there were tons of food places and shopping. There was a huge plaza that sold perfume, purses and souvenirs. Many restaurants such as guys burgers and pizza made this airport super convenient especially if you have time to eat before your flight. The only complaint I have is there were not a lot of places for your drinks while seated in the terminals. We had to put our drinks on the floor. Most other airports have cup holders available. Otherwise this airport was pretty decent. read more

The main airport we go through every time we come to Cancun. TIPS (AFTER ARRIVING): After arriving and getting your bags, don't pay attention to the swarm of people to your left and right, trying to get your attention as you try to leave the airport. They're trying to sell you on something you don't need or are trying to get you to go somewhere you're not trying to go; especially is you're at one of the resorts. If you have shuttle service, it'll be outside in a designated area with signs. Just be in the lookout for that. TIPS (WHEN LEAVING): When leaving and if going back to the States, you should expect to arrive at the airport. At least 3 hours early before your flight in order to check in, as the lines can get extremely long for checking in. And that doesn't include TSA. read more

This is a pretty good airport. Depending on your flight, check in has some of the best staff. SunCountry staff were super. Frontier staff, were very much NOT. There's lots of kiosks, but you do have to deal with people if you have checked bags. Security was pretty quick and easy. The duty free has lots of options, but no real steals that I could find. T he restaurants are decent, but you won't get out of any of them without dropping $50USD. They have Guy Fieri's, and Wolfgang Pucks, but even Johnny Rocket's will get you! Big clean airport with decent food options. I opted for a restaurant called guacamole. It was decent but they are so cheap with their portions. They give you a little bit of rice in your burrito but anyway they're decent. The airport had many good options. Besides food security was good. They were quick and efficient not like when we came to Mexico. read more

Woof - this airport is pretty rough. I have been to airports all over the US and various other countries. Though I know no airport is the same and usually do not have my expectations particularly high, this one was a rougher experience. Though it was absolutely packed, various airlines made relatively quick work of checking my family in. Customs on the way in was amazing, customs on the way out was not the worse, but they really backed up some lanes, and did not seem particularly in a hurry to get travelers through promptly. Though everyone was friendly and considering the lines, we made it through in decent time. Once in the terminal, is when it gets absolutely crazy. It starts in their duty-free store, which has lots of great options, brought home a bottle of mezcal myself! Lots of people to assist and answer questions! There are ample shops and a few restaurant options such as Johnny Rockets + Margaritaville a Guy Ferrari American option and handful more. Nothing super noteworthy. The most frustrating part of this airport is the service and wifi are absolutely nonexistent. Could not get a connection to save my life. The only place I could was at the very front of the duty-free store after security. Maybe it was because it was so busy, but I have never had so much trouble with it. The offer one lounge before security - why? - this makes no sense to me. The second lounge had a wait time of over 3 hours, so something to keep in mind if you have those perks! We left on time, so kudos there! But for having to spend four hours at, this would not be my airport of choice. OTher side note - upon exit of the airport, be prepared for a rush of tour guides, offering a lot of different services! Though I am sure they can be helpful, be prepared to be stopped many times, for various sales. if you know where you are going, keep on moving, if not, plenty of opportunities to get some info! read more

Epic airport. A bit pricey as every airport is but lots of options for eat and drink. Do not stop and buy booze here. It's very expensive. Tell your driver to stop at a OXXO or 711 for beer and tequila. It'll be half the price. Also, need a cab? Pro tip; on the way out when you get barraged by the sales peeps just say you're going to take a shuttle because you don't have the pesos they want. Offer half of what they ask. Then when they say no, just say 'okay I'll take the shuttle' they will almost always cave and you'll get a cab for half the price since Uber is banned out of the airport. Win-win. The Amex lounge was great so way worth the visit on the way out as free booze and soft drinks/random snacks etc... read more

We had a great experience in this airport, however, we had an incident with our younger son. He started chocking while we were eating, (before taking our flight back home). Our waiter from Margaritaville T4 (3/22/24) was very diligent and proactive during this incident; he provided CPR and assisted my son who was chocking and throwing out. He placed a phone call to the airport's paramedic who came and provide assistance. In this moment of distress, sadly, I did not recall the waiter's name but THANK YOU! Comparing to Mexico City (2016) airport this airport is what you expect nice and beautiful. Easy to get into customs, baggages pick up, keep in mind sometimes officers might ask randomly to open your luggage. Money exchanged, do not rush to change all your $ in the first bank you see at the airport, money value varies and change every day. You will see tons of places around Cancun that exchange foreign currency and they may have a better market value from the one at the airport. If you rent your car prior to come to Cancun check with the company they will transport you to their rental location outside of the airport within 5 minutes or less. You will feel bombarded with all tour agencies outside of the airport do not rush to get the first deal, you will find tour agencies all over the places in Cancun and you can negotiate. read more

Nice terminal in Cancun, Mexico with a lot of shops and good dining options. We arrived early for our flight home so we had a few hours to relax after going through security. We enjoyed browsing the duty free shops. Even found a couple of reasonable deals. After shopping and eating, we sat down and chilled. There were plenty of seats. Overall, it was a fine experience. Nice and clean airport. Lots of stuff to look at in Duty Free. We had no problem with receiving our checked bags. Restrooms were kept very clean (at least the couple I visited had a person posted there who cleaned out stalls in between each use). Right now, you need to do an online health survey to be able to leave Mexico to return to the US. There's free airport wifi, but scanning that QR code took a while, and the website itself was not easy to navigate (that's probably not the fault of the airport but of the website designer). Seats were pretty uncomfortable in the waiting area, but not different from most airports. There aren't a ton of plugs in all seating areas. read more

Haven't been here for years but I was pleasantly surprised! There's so much more food options now than from what I remembered. Also, tons of duty free shopping and regular shopping available. Not enough seats though for dining and they were all a little too close to the other tables. The restrooms were clean and well maintained. When we arrived, immigration and custom lines moved fast and we were able to exit the airport within 20 minutes or so. read more

This is for terminal 2 Not impressed. Flight was early, got off the plane quickly and the guy who was leading us to customs.disnt even know where to go. We get through customs in about 30 mins (they didn't even look at our papers) and got to baggage claim only to wait for almost an hour for our bags. NOBODY ELSE was in the terminal we were literally the only flight and had maybe 40 people... Nice modern terminal we are leaving from. More so than the one we entered into Cancun, which seems older and has the customs facilities. For a domestic flight from Cancun to Mexico City everything processed very quickly and efficiently. It really helps to be somewhat fluent in Spanish, found Cancun not to be as Bi-lingual as I would have expected. Road construction to and from the airport than can slow travel to and from depending on times. Took longer when we arrived 30 to 40 minutes from AMBIANCE SUITES TULLUM AVENUE to check in at Noon on a Tuesday. Overall I am having a pleasant experience in terminal 4 Cancun Airport and am impressed. FYI as a city is fairly new. Back from when the Mexican Government put resources to build a tourist destinations zone from the late 1970's. I would say well done. -- Got here around 12:30 pm, now 3:30 and this terminal got a lot busier. Gate seats full now. For your planning consideration. read more

Security are much more efficient here than in NY. PLENTY of food and or shopping choices if you have the time. Friendly service. Only negatives were people tiny aggressive with trying to sell you things and lack of enough phone charging stations. read more

I LOVE Cancun! I'm almost always there! It only takes me an hour and forty five minute flight so it's cheap but I get the bundle so it's more affordable. The airport is very accommodating to those that don't speak English. You basically fill out your immigration forms while you're in the sky on your flight. When you deplane you go down a corridor to a down escalator. Once off the escalator you get in one of several lines to go through customs. If you didn't fill out your immigration form on the plane they have plenty of pens and stations to fill them out. Then you go through customs. After that you just go down and get your suitcase/s. After that you head out to get a taxi, bus, or private vehicle. I always pay $65 for a private vehicle company to my hotel and back. Just know that getting to your transportation there are swarms of locals trying to get you to take you to your hotel. When I first went it was intimidating because I was saying no to everybody. Now I put a smile on my face, walk briskly with my suitcase, and avoid all eye contact and that's when I finally realized they will leave you alone. They do have dogs as well to ensure there's no smuggling. Also, there is a Margaritaville as soon as you go out. I'm always tempted to go there, maybe next time. Maybe. Pretty cool airport. I will state again to plan transportation to and from your hotel! You will pay a lot more than you should if you don't. read more

Very small airport. Overpriced items, dollars and in pesos. We got there 3 hours before our flight and we were the 3rd pulled in line. There was not much to do, they still required masks. Cancun was too touristic for us, we like going to places where there aren't a lot of hotels. The beach waves are very strong as well. Lock your bags! We had been waiting for 40 minutes and still no bags. And I'm not talking just my party-- the entire flight is standing here waiting. Almost an hour after landing bags started flowing steadily.The airport is dead so it's not like they are swamped. One of my bags had clearly been rifled through.
