The first thing you notice is how long the walk is after getting off the plane. The hallway seems to go on forever, so hopefully you do not need a restroom right away because it is a trek. Customs itself was surprisingly easy. We scanned our passports and got through pretty quickly, although the machines seemed pretty finicky and took a few tries for some people. The biggest downside is what happens after customs. The second you walk through, it turns into nonstop sales pitches. First, you go through duty free where it feels like every few feet someone is trying to stop you to buy something. Then after clearing customs and declarations, you walk into another area packed with people trying to sell tours, hotels, transportation, and excursions. Finally, once you make it outside, you are greeted by what feels like a thousand taxi and transportation companies all trying to get your attention. The airport itself is functional and the customs process was efficient, but it can feel overwhelming and chaotic once you leave the secure area. Just be prepared to politely say no a lot.

Personally, I always pick Air Margaritaville because the service is dependable and the food is decent. There is also a Bubba Gump's and more. There are places to buy snacks for your flight. There are "duty free" mega stores with everything you can think of. There is a shoe store! There is even a Ray-Ban store with crazy prices (think Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer sunglasses Gen 1 for $700 when Sunglasses Hut USA retails them for under $299). There are lots of Mexican souvenir shops, but also with crazy prices. Tshirts were in the $32-$42 range. Even fridge magnets are $7+. There is ALWAYS a line for restrooms. Cleanliness varies by location. Mera Business Lounge sucks. Always a line - unless you are paying. If you are using your credit card perk for entry, they won't have a place for you. Paying $35? Go right in! Pretty much everything here closes between 7-8pm. If your flight is delayed or later than 8pm, there is no place to get food or drinks. Plan accordingly.

I DID NOT FEEL SAFE HERE! The only reason they even get 1…read morestar: the beach and the food were great! (when it was available). NO SAFE IN THE ROOM! We really tried for 3 nights to see the positives over the negatives. We arrived at about 8-9 pm and were walked to our room (not the beautiful ocean view room we booked) and were left without any communication- (what the WiFi password was, where the front desk is, who to contact if we had a problem- you know, normal hotel stuff). We were not given the room we booked until we expressed our frustration that the hot and humid bathroom was separated from the room by a very hot and humid hallway, the sliding door did not lock unless 2 people pulled it together and locked it with some creativity, the wiring in the outlets and fan in the ceiling looked like they were going to light the place on fire . We went to have breakfast the next morning, and ordered food - the listing on Bookings.com says "breakfast included in the price of the room" we got charged for breakfast. (The breakfast they include is a "continental breakfast" toast, butter, jam, coffee, juice- while everyone else around you eats eggs and potatoes from the menu). If you want to carry a block of wood on a rope with 4 keys on it so you can fumble through the keys every time you get to your door, then you should stay here. We basically would have to bring a big enough bag to the beach for a place to keep the keys . The staff is very suspicious of you if you decide to put your food bill on your tab so you can pay it all at the end. They kept bothering us to make us pay for the whole 5 days at the hotel even though they already had my credit card info. They thought we were going to leave without paying (because other people have done that to them) so we were treated like we were going to steal from them. The ironic part about it- the first day we were there- our bags were dug through by the cleaning staff. There is no safe in the room - and this is not our first trip out of the country- we kept all of our passports/cash/credit cards/phones, etc on us at all times... so nothing that we noticed was missing. It was obvious to me that they had been in my bag, because the way they zipped it is not the way I ever zip my bag- two, too perfectly placed zipper loops right on top- nope- I zip both zippers all the way to one side so the zippers aren't visible. Nothing was missing- so I didn't complain- what would I say- they were allegedly looking for stuff to allegedly steal? If you don't speak Spanish- DON'T STAY HERE! I understand enough Spanish to know the content and subject of the conversation... Many of the employees speak English to you, but when conveying the message about you/your room/your food to each other - in front of you, they speak Spanish. Even the owner -Ana- speaks English to your face, but when another employee (who also speaks English) brought our tab for the food- they spoke in Spanish about our bill/us/our situation . Very rude. Bottom line- there are much nicer places to stay- for less money, where you will be given better service (anything is better than no service at all!)

Nothing too exciting about this airport. Upon arrival I had a carryon, so no baggage claim and got…read moreto breeze to the customs lines. This went quickly and is automated by scanning your passport then walking through. Maybe took 10 min, and that's probably too long. Once through customs the mandatory duty free shopping walk through, then the tour section. I got grabbed by a sales person with the idea of helping me find my transportation. Got a nice map of the area as well as a few pointers and did not take them up on what they were offering. Once outside it became a free for all with a lot of shouting and yelling to offer transportation. Thank goodness I pre-arranged mine. Exiting the country went smoothly as well. TSA did a passport scan and ticket validation then through the line. Only large electronics had to be taken out, liquids could stay in bags. Seamless process and I liked they had about 10 different lanes open so there were minimal lines. Back through another duty free shop before entering the terminal. I found it interesting gates were not pre-assigned soooo like Penn Station, a group of people would move together once departure gates were announced. The terminal was pretty small and walking around was easy. Lots of food options and as that most were American restaurant. And no book store just one small section at a store. Lots of snacks, and small souvenir shops. Probably one of the only airports I've been to with ample seating.

His English is very good, vehicle was spotless (very, very clean). Seats very comfortable, hand sanitizer in vehicle as well as trash can and cooler w/cold water a soda. It was so nice to be with a local who knows the area AND speaks English. 13 passenger van with tall ceilings and our family of 5. So much cheaper than a bus... we took that too the week before and this was a better experience.

We were promptly greeted at the CANCUN airport for shuttle service to our resort (4 women…read moretraveling). Rafael was easy to find and had a sign ready to pick us up in a chaotic setting. His shuttle was exceedingly clean and smelled nice. He handled all of our baggage and was very pleasant during the drive to our resort. He speaks very good English and was able to give us pointers around the area. We also used Rafael for our excursions around the city. He handled all of our arrangements (better than resort rates) in addition to transportation. One tour was running a half hour late, and he waited patiently to ensure our safety. Once we had telephone reception, we could see that he'd been calling repeatedly to ensure that we were ok and not in danger--he completely went above and beyond the call of duty, which we all greatly appreciated! For international travel to the Cancun area, I will not use anyone except Rafael. He is WONDERFUL!

It was easy to book on their website and you can also add upgrades like beer, sodas and snacks with your ride. Also, read that they will drive you to a supermarket or make other stops for an extra fee. They message you via Whatsapp upon arrival and give you instructions to find your driver. We did have a bit of difficulty locating him at the airport and pickup van is a bit older but well worth it for the price you're paying. At the end of our trip, they arrived to pick us up at the hotel right on time. I would definitely book again when in Cancun.

In March 2026, my husband and I were part of a tour group that rode on a Touring Coach Expressos bus from Playa del Carmen to Tulum. The bus arrived on time, was clean, had seats that were fairly comfortable, and had a decent airflow and temperature. The driver seemed to drive well.

We DIYed the entire day to keep costs low for everyone. We got quotes from several other companies used to dealing with tourist groups and the prices were exorbitant (tourist upcharge?). Then we contacted Touring Coach and got a very reasonable quote off of them, as well as very quick replies. Only thing was, we were a little skeptical that it was too good to be true. As 30/40-somethings these days, we just automatically look online to verify a business before sending them our credit card number. The website is gorgeous, marketing materials look legit, but we couldn't find an external review of them ANYWHERE on the internets, which made us a little uneasy. (In hindsight, this is probably b/c their clientele are more Mexican corporate clients and they have an established client base there, not relying on internet referrals. We were no doubt outliers that we were United Statians contacting them directly in Spanish.) The endgame: The bus was clean and beautiful, the driver was prompt and professional, the pricing was reasonable. Can't ask for much more than that. I wanted to write this review just in case anyone else ends up in the same situation, a little uneasy that it's too good to be true until the bus shows up at your doorstep. We couldn't have been happier with our experience and highly recommend them!
