I deicded to order a decaffeinated coffee because inside the restaurant it was very cold inside. Not sure if they do have heat sitting near the window or not but I sure wish there was heat. I started off with having chicken Pollo soup which was alright I wish it said what inside the soup . I was happy that it was taco Tuesday so half off tacos. My favorite was the general tso chicken taco. I decided to also get the chicken Pollo the taco was a bit soggy. I also gotten the Rib Eye but it didnt taste like it , it tasted more like steak. The food was pretty good, but the portion size was fairly small for the price we paid. The service was exceptionally slow tonight as it seems there was an event going on. It took about 30 minutes to order and quite some time before we got our food. The guacamole served with the quesadilla was a bit chunky. The burrata taco was good but soggy from all the ingredients. I used to go here when Israel owned for 35 + years. his chicken tortilla soup has 30+ herbs and spices. the enchilada sauce on enchiladas is great and his shrimp camarones dishes. all foods great. Fun to eat in or outside. Colorful taco chips served. However, for the new owners, please run your tap water thru a PUR filter as the bleach smell from tap water is nasty. We usually get tap water and a Dos Equis but this tap water has a strong bleach smell. It doesn't take much to buy a pur filteration pitchers then Add bagged Ice from pure water. read more

We went to Cancun to have dinner. It was my birthday. When we arrived we were greeted with our usual cocktails made by Ryan. He makes the best cocktails. Someone must have tipped off the staff because everyone wished me Happy birthday. At our table there were a gathering of balloons. It was karaoke night so Martin sang to me. Dinner was excellent as usual. The service is always on point, thanks to Will They made me a plate of strawberries dipped in chocolate with whipped cream for desert. Excellent! Everyone at Cancun Inn always makes us feel special, but tonight they went above board and made me feel like a million dollars on my birthday. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately everything I had was not good. The guacamole was premade and no flavor. Super cold and distasteful. The birria taco where dry, the zarzuela was not good and the shrimp rubbery. The plantain where not cooked all the way and the aioli sauce was not good. The mango wings where un flavorful. Wow what an experience! And I mean that--this was not a dinner it was an experience! We met the owner, Israel, very quickly and he was such a character. Very friendly, funny, and if you ask him to do some magic tricks or tell you stories about his life working in Vegas, you'll get quite the treat (and be sure to have some free time to enjoy it). The food was excellent. Homemade chips and salsa to start were on point. Pro tip: ask for spicier salsa to try their other two. The medium salsa was soooo good. After reading the great reviews we decided to give this place a try... While the owner and staff were very friendly, I can say I was very disappointed in my meal. I ordered the fajitas, and they came out cold, chicken tasted old and in some weird gravy like sauce?? Usually when served fajitas in a restaurant, they come out sizzling on a hot plate with all the fixings. All that came with it was beans and rice and a small dollop of sour cream. The beans were bland and the rice was flavorless. My daughter got beef tacos and they weren't very good either. My husband ordered enchiladas and they just weren't amazing. Chips were good, warm and fresh. Salsa was meh. I left feeling disappointed and not satisfied and still hungry. There are much better places to eat so we probably won't be coming back anytime soon, unfortunately. read more

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful experience on Friday night at the Cancun Inn! While the restaurant has a pristine reputation among locals, the food and atmosphere certainly lived up to the hype. We started with a staple in all of our Mexican meals, a perfectly executed guacamole and freshly fried chips. For our mains, I was enticed by the Carne Asada & Camarones Ajillo main course, which was EXCEPTIONAL (particularly the delectable garlic sauce that highlighted the dish), and my wife was wowed by her flakey, mango-accented founder taco. Just deliciously-elevated Mexican fare. The best part? Meeting the charming owner Israel, who served us complimentary post-dinner cocktails (which were comprised of tequila, amaretto and peach schnapps) that paired wonderfully with our insanely-tasty churros. Israel was a gentleman who immediately felt like a friend we've known for years, and we can't thank him (and his kind, efficient staff) for the 5 star experience. This place left me slightly disappointed. I did enjoy many things but there were surprisingly many more food related aspects that could be drastically improved. I understand that each patron may experience each restaurant slightly differently and that my experience doesn't necessarily sum up this establishment as a whole. But, I still feel like it's worth summarizing my experience. Positives Great customer service!! Guacamole is tasty Ambience is super warm, inviting, and aesthetically pleasing. Negatives Salsa tastes like canned tomatoes with added sugar The fish tacos are dully seasoned. (And super expensive. It was 22$) Bean sauce tastes like canned beans Pico de Gallo isn't even close to fresh Margarita tastes like water and vodka Maybe I've experienced too many great Mexican food places, but I feel like this restaurant's food can be drastically improved. We ordered food from them through GrubHub. Food was delivered and we ordered plantains two orders. I only gave you four plantains and they charge too much money. They should've gave more food. Also, we ordered steak fajitas and they completely forgot to fulfill the order they didn't even give us utensils, napkins, anything. The chicken dish that we ordered that was OK but they give you small portions that bill for delivery was about $120. It was ridiculous so we call the restaurant they had a waiter personally drive to my house I gave us the steak fajitas utensils I gave us two orders of flan as a courtesyand apologized more of a tourist attraction place I would not order again, was not pleased with the food quality or the portions for the price read more

This was a horrific experience. We were served after people thst came n after us. Chios good salsa tasted like ketchup. Everyone had cloth napkins but us . I had to ask for them No vegan options. They made me veggie burritos that tasted terrible. I believe they were cross contaminated with meat as I was sick afterward. My partners food tasted poorly also. Needless to say. We will not be going back. When I got home they had included a nice little surprise in my order that I had asked about over the phone but decided to just get sides instead. I thought it was a really nice touch. After going there once and being blown away, we have since been back twice, and have made reservations for a party of 12 next weekend. The specialty tacos are homemade and seriously unbelievable - from the mushroom taco, cauliflower taco, short rib taco, chorizo taco, chicken, pulled pork, we tried them all and one was better than the next. I recently ordered take out from the Cancun Inn in Sugar Loaf. IT WAS AWFUL!!!!!!! I ordered 3 Chile Rellenos and they were tasteless, luke warm and in some kind of watery red sauce. The previous owners gave you rice, refried beans and a salad with your order. I received none of that-for $23 I received 3 horrible rellenos in a tin take out pan with a plastic cover on top and a bag of chips!!! The decor is creepy too-it might even upset small children. This place should be avoided in my opinion. It was a waste of money. read more

On the way back to Long Island from a long Upstate trip, I never thought I would stumble across a great Mexican restaurant experience, but that's exactly what happened last night at Cancun Inn in Chester, New York, near Goshen. First of all, the family owners greet every customer like they have been coming here for years. Elba and Israel truly know how to treat their patrons. They filled our table with things to nosh on, as if the chips and salsa weren't already among the best I've sampled with just the right amount of flavor. Entrees, drinks, their rice, beans and vegetables...I must say there wasn't a negative word about anything we put in our mouths. Not only does this place make amazing food, BUT THE STAFF is what really makes it. I'm pretty sure he is the owner, but the minute you walk in they treat you like family. From hand shakes when you walk in, to constantly walking around the restaurant engaging with his customers and checking in on us, to the warm hug he gives you on the way out. Now on to the food! I got a platter special - which they had a nice selection - which lets you sample a bit of everything. My plate came with a cheese enchilada, beef taco, and cheese stuffed pepper. My partner got the chicken fajita and it smelled wonderful and tasted even better. The salsa that comes with the chips - I need that recipe! Also, I find that guacamole can always be hit or miss - this place was a hit! If you're not getting food, stop by for a drink at least.
