This was not a scenic or pretty store BUT a lit of options, extremely friendly and kind staff, and a clean restaurant with good food. Chips were fresh, crisp, and served with a decent, basic salsa. Place was pretty damn good, for being smack dab in the middle of the country. Let me get my gripes out of the way. I ordered a vodka and soda with extra lime. There's only one person in there that I think can legally pour liquor. It wasn't the greatest, so I ordered a Paloma, well actually quite a few. I kind of felt uneasy when he put grapefruit soda into the mixing tin and shook it. But they were pretty good anyways. They had ABC News on the TV. But luckily they were playing mariachi music, so I didn't have to sit there and listen to a bunch of fake journalists continue to spread propaganda and make believers out of the mindless sheep, but to me that's an indication of their values. Inside decorum was nice. Sort of like a Caribbean / Mexican restaurant theme, at least to me. I grew up in San diego, I've been to Tijuana hundreds of times, and actually lived in rosarito so I know Mexican food and everything Mexican. All the wait staff were super nice. The guy at the front of the house who was also the bartender was super cool. My waitress was nice also. He always kept coming back to check on me which was nice. I ordered the Cancun fajita taco salad. It wasn't as big as I was expecting, and they served it without any dressing, so I just asked for salsa. I knew that wouldn't get me through the night, so I ordered the caldo de mariscos, or siete mares as I know it. Now, for being Middle Tennessee and not coastal, it was really damn good. I had a ton of shrimp, a good amount of the other seafood, and I was quite surprised that the crab was cooked perfectly. Not soggy like other places, it was actually crisp and snappy. The head on shrimp were tender enough to eat with the shell on. The broth was pretty good. I'm stuck down here until tomorrow afternoon, so there's a good chance I may go have breakfast in the morning. If I do, another review is sure to follow! read more

This is our all time favorite Mexican restaurant in Newport. Wonderful food and always have great service. We needed a catered meal and reached out to Cancuns and we were blown away with the job they did. They really took care of us and we are so happy that they could be part of our event. We had Oscar as a server and when I say he was the best server I've EVER had in my life, I'm not exaggerating. I was a server for many years and he blew me away. The level of attentiveness, the way he went above and beyond was remarkable. Perfection. The food was incredible. Stopped for a late meal after a long day of driving and have found myself stopping anytime I'm in Newport around dinner time.

A foodies dream!! We had an absolutely amazing meal. TONS of flavor with the perfect amount of spice for both one who loves spice and one who has not quite as much tolerance. The food was fabulous and a great price. The guacamole, refried beans and all my food tasted so yummy! My husband had the fajitas and they were wonderful as well. Generous servings and chips and salsa when you sit down! The service was excellent and the manager or the owner, not sure, seated us and checked on us after we got our meal. Not sure how people are able to give this place 5 stars as there was just way to many issues to start off with. I really don't like to give a low star review but I also don't want to tell people something that isn't true. The soda machine had issues and could not give a good flavor soda at al, not a huge issue. My wife ordered a ground beef taco and something else ground beef, the flavor was so bad that she had to send it back and elected to not eat anything at all. I tired it and it wasn't good. The only reason I gave this place 3 stars was the burrito I had was decent flavor and the price was okay. We will not be going back and will keep looking for that perfect Mexican restaurant. But as always make sure to try this place out on your own, my experience could be different from yours. read more

Staff was very friendly and service was good but I was disappointed, I asked for tacos al pastor, fresh waters and orchata and the waitresses did not know what it was. I ordered 2 burritos and it was just the meat plain... with nothing! wrapped with the tortilla and melted cheese on top, and super salty.
