My husband and I eat here frequently. The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere is truly Mexican appearing. The staff is very courteous, and goes out of their way to please you. The food wasn't bad it was good but not great. The service wasn't great we waited for 5 mins and had 5 people walk past us acknowledge us before they helped us. They even helped 2 families that came in after us first before getting our drink order. The place was kinda dated but looked like most Mexican restaurants do on the inside and clean but not spotless. Visited this place last month when came here for Smoky mountains trip. Dine inn is available and was pretty full during the time we went for dinner. Service was so good, the lady who served and helped us with the orders and menu was super quick. I tried fish tacos and it's the best I've ever tried. Also tried Chicken fajitas, chicken enchiladas and few vegetarian dishes and was totally satisfied with both quality and quantity. Will definitely visit this place again. We were in Newport Tn in an RV park. We wanted to eat out. We like Mexican because their Fajitas are Keto friendly. I had the Tejanas fajitas and they were excellent. More meat than veggies and a nice guacamole salad. My husband had the Molecajetas served in a volcano bowl. We should have split. It was huge and it was yummy. Taking away the pineapple and rice made it very Keto friendly. We took some back for later. The staff was nice. The waiter put up with my bad Spanish and did not laugh at me. Moving here from Texas we found it hard to find good Mex-Tex. After trying several area Mexican restaurants we found La Carreta, yeah. They have one of the best margaritas and their food is fantastic. If you're brave ask for the hotter sauce, but be careful, it's hot. read more

The food tastes like cardboard, the chips were stale, the salsa and cheese dip were bland and watery, the refried beans were like water soup the fried rice taste like uncle Ben's red beans and rice but doesn't taste like Mexican fried rice. The absolute worst Mexican Food I have ever had. I ordered steak tacos , which is what I got .......but have never had tacos delivered to me with literally just the steak. We ordered nachos as a safe bet, but we lost that bet. The ground beef was salty, the chicken was dry, the beans were watery. Outstanding Mexican dinner. We split a fajita suprema [chix shrimp and steak]. Probably one of the best ways to get a real taste of a Mexican restaurant's menu. Very good. The margaritas were 1/2 price (happy hour until 8). We go for the frozen ones without salt. Very good, kinda sweet which was perfect! The restaurant is in a strip mall. My associate and I have lunch every Wednesday. We decided to try something different than our usual restaurant. On our first visit we were pleasantly surprised. Our food was excellent and our server was great. I decided to go in the evening to see if the place was as good as it was during lunch. Yup! It is. Since our first visit we have eaten there about five more times. The menu is huge and you can get your dishes pretty much fixed as you may want them. On our first visit we ordered AlaCarte to try several dishes at one sitting. After that full dinners were definitely in order. Everything we ordered from tacos to shrimp quesadilla was great Also, the margaritas were excellent. They were real margaritas made with the proper alcohol content. They have happy hour starting at 4 PM but the alcohol selection is very limited. If you're a beer drinker, the beer is cold, especially served in a frozen mug.
