MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE I HAD IN MY STAY IN CANCUN! we were…read moreskeptical about buying the package because the sales men (guys wearing neon yellow shirts) haggle you into checking out their deals. My family and I bought the deal just because it covered a lot of stuff to do in Isla De Mujeres. (See picture attached) they provide snorkeling equipment. So the way it works is you get assigned a boat with your own driver only for your party. They will take you all over the island. You get to choose how long you want to stay in each area. Our captains were "El Negro" Jose and Jorge from Veracruz. TIPS: you are allowed AND SHOULD take food into the boat. Best deal is to go to the OXXO next door. Buy beer to make it fun! IF YOU HAVE A GOPRO or any underwater equipment TAKE IT! (I left my GOPRO in the hotel) At the beginning They took us to the most touristic part of the island for about an hour and a half. You get to hang out, explore, get in the crystal clear waters) After that they took us snorkeling off the shore to see fishes. If you know how to swim well, they will take you to a little tour where the current takes you off and you get to see different species of fish. When you are done the boat will pick you up. Once you're in, they take you to another part of the island where you can eat. Part of the package. They will cook you a saw fish (pes serrucho). Drinks are not included and you can't bring drinks inside. But it's worth it. While you wait for your food. You can swim with cat sharks and take pictures. (They are harmless). When everything is done, the best part comes! You will get on the boat and they will take you to see the lost village (under water museum) you get snorkeling gear and you explore everything for as long as you want! Beautiful scenery! After all that is over they will take you to shore and you're done. Should end around 6pm and you will be tired!

If you break down the ticket price by the activities included, it's actually a solid overall value. But let's be clear: this is not a 5-Diamond experience. The food is the biggest letdown. The buffet is nothing special--average at best. The fries, in particular, are almost always cold and soggy, thanks to a heating system that doesn't keep up, even when food is freshly made. It's the kind of food that fills you up but doesn't leave an impression. A few tips to help you make the most of your trip: * Buy tickets online in advance - This helps you skip the lines and sometimes score a small discount. * Avoid visiting during election season - Due to Mexican law, no alcohol is served during this time, even at tourist locations. If part of your plan is to sip a drink by the water, plan around that. * Skip the timeshare presentation - While it might sound like a good deal (free breakfast + discounted or free tickets), it's really just a pitch to buy into a discount program. Then they tried to insinuate that it was our fault that we missed our bus a 5-minute checkout turned into a 30 minute checkout because a f****** on their part. on the drive back from xoximilco, there was a group of about 10 people that were clearly intoxicated, being very disruptive and nothing was done about it. Skip the timeshare presentation they told us that we would get a $400 massage and it turned out to be maybe a $70 massage also they say it's an hour and a half from beginning to end and it took over 2 1/2 hours. The all-inclusive is definitely worth it if you eat a lot and drink a lot which is something we did. on our last night there we went to restaurant that supposedly had the tomahawk steaks come to find out they didn't they had sent their meats to another restaurant so that was very disappointing. They did a great job trying to find the Whale sharks, we got skunked. I knew the possibility was low this time of year but gave it a shot. No let's get to the logistics of the trip. First we were supposed to be picked up in Plays del Carmen at 7:30 7:45. Had to get up at 6:00 (again I knew all of this) they showed up around 8:20 and the driver drove 120-130 KPH. Sketchy, the van Is at least 10 years old packed with 10 people and he was weaving in and out u ok Durazo e so much. It just was very unsafe. The next issue is the trip is $200 per person (again no issue) when the final charges were done it was $246 per person plus the $10 charge for the eco fee. All of this would not have mattered probably if we had seen a whale shark. I would not suggest this for families it is very rough open ocean. If you get motion sickness at all make sure you take medication 2 of the 10 got sick. Overall I would not suggest doing this excursion unless you are actually staying in the Can Cun area and after June 1.

This is when Nassim showed us he was more than a tour guide , he is a phenomenal private chef. He was extremely patient with us as we attempted to follow his lead as he showed us how to prepare the dishes. HIs knife skills are amazing and his use of seasonings is spot on. Nassim showed us how to make authentic corn tortillas for chicken enchiladas along with the red sauce , handmade sopas for chicken sopas and an amazing guacamole . Nassim and the La parilla staff treated us to delicious margaritas while the food was cooking. When the food was almost finished cooking, we assisted Nassim in plating the meal and we sat down with him to eat. Nassim excused himself towards the end of the meal to finish making the arroz con leche, which is a delicious rice dessert he served us. In conversation I had mentioned we were in Mexico to celebrate my birthday.
