The servers are definitely getting over worked here and you could see it in their performance. I guess they are open 6 days a week and only one day off for the all of them. Besides the over tired and maybe fed up server we had. Our food was pretty good. We split a blackened mahi mahi sandwhich, sweet potato and regular French fries. The food is pretty good but had a not-so-good recent experience. We ordered take-out through their online system and it said it would be ready about 30 minutes after we put in the order. So I show up at the restaurant to pick it up and they say it's not quite ready and it will be a few minutes. No big deal I think - I understand the times are somewhat approximate. So then another twenty minutes goes by and it's STILL not ready. I inquire and they apologize saying they got hit with a lot of orders at once. Ok, frustrating, but I understand these things happen. Another full 40 MINUTES goes by before I finally get the food - a total of one hour AFTER it was supposed to be ready for pick-up. I had also asked for a couple of desserts that I couldn't place online order for because they didn't have desserts in their online system. I figure surely because of an hour wait they'll offer these for free - after all , I had already spent $60 with them and left a generous tip with their online when I placed the order and before any of the waiting problems surfaced. A tip I probably would not have left after being made to wait an hour. The server doesn't offer these for free so I say " shouldn't these kind of be comped given the situation"? She says something to the effect of "Sorry, our manager doesn't usually allow this". Taken a bit aback, I ask is it's possible for me to speak to him/her. She says " sorry, he's busy in the back helping out in the kitchen". So I'm not sure what's going on with the management of this place but, it's one thing to have staffing/timing problems with the food but a completely different level of management problem if the staff/management is so indifferent to the results of their problems that they can't comp a couple of desserts or even be bothered to talk to a customer about it. And believe me, this wasn't a full 'Karen' situation or anything as I was very understanding and curteous up to this point. I felt a 'good' restaurant would have just returned our money and apologized profusely for an almost 1.5 hour total wait for a pickup order. So to not even be willing to comp a couple of cheap desserts felt more like a middle finger to someone who otherwise had been very understanding about their issues. Buyer beware... read more

I was so excited to learn that Candlelight south is the sister restaurant to my favorite wing place in Scarsdale. This restaurant has a bigger menu so I was hoping for good food. We ordered Fried pickles, hotdog with chili and wings. Fried pickles were good size portion. I would order again. However the hotdog was tasteless and the wings were under cooked and not crispy. Hidden gem- a parking lot attendant downtown told us about this place. I have passed it a million times and it looked like a dive out front...well it is wonderful. Super staff(yes Tara great bartender) Wonderful selection of beer and hand crafted cocktails and food was delicious. Free lot parking and ton of TV'S for your sports fans. This fall try the Tampa brewery Pumpkin beer- totally delicious with NO aftertaste of artificial flavorings. WOW - who knew??? read more

Hamburger was great! Sangria also great! Wings were perfectly done just the way I like them super crispy outside super tender inside but no taste at all... I don't think they even put salt on them. The other downside... no blue cheese!!! Thats a must for my wings. They call blue cheese to some pink sauce they make and doesn't taste like blue cheese at all. Terrible service! Tried this place out, was suggested by our community fb group to try one day. Hubs loves wings and we've been back at least 4 times since trying it out. The sesame sauce and the Sriracha dipping sauce is so tasty. We tend to always get the same thing and they've been consistent so far with taste and service. read more

I am originally from New York, near Westchester county, home of the original Candlelight known for the best wings in the N.Y. tristate area. When I saw the family opened up a South location in St. Augustine I was so excited. We've come 3 times now and the recipe is right on point. The wings are the best I've had in North East florida. The hot sauce is perfect, not too hot, just right. The first time we came we felt the wings were not crispy enough so since then we have asked for extra crispy wings and they've been cooked to perfection every time. You can't get wings without the perfect seasoned waffle fries. One of my favorite accompaniments to the waffle fries is theirnfanour jalapeno cheese sauce. The gravy is also a great with the fries. We will return again and again. Very happy we get to have our favorite wings from back home just a couple of towns away. read more

Worst experience. The food was terrible and tasted like microwave Tyson's chicken. The fries were soggy and drenched in oil. The worst part is the manager. I wanted to like this place but can't. First impression around the walls and corners are filthy. Like the floor had been mopped but ended at the wall so it's caked up filth around the room. If I had seen this I would have left. Over 15 minutes to order. 40 minutes to get food and it was wrong. 35 minutes for a refill of a soft drink. Ordered nachos without jalapeño and extra sour cream. Got nachos with barely any meat with jalapeños (extra sour cream was right). Took 8 minutes to remake nachos. The other order was a french dip with mashed potatoes and brown gravy. Great place with a great deal on wings - full wings at prices you'll find other places charge for just the drum or wing separate. Order of 5 is equal to 10 at any other place. Traditional buffalo style - mild is most places mediums. Also bring the kids for great shakes and ice cream desserts! They also have a great beer selection with many wines to choose from as well. Came to this place again to give it a second chance. Well this experience was worse than the first. Came on a Sunday evening to find it surprising not busy ( football games going on). We were told to sit wherever we liked. After sitting for 10 minutes we still didn't have anyone come take our drinks orders. I left my table and walked to bar myself to order them and bring back to table. Finally a surfer looking kid came to take our orders. By the time we were done ordering we needed more drinks. Because we were starving, we decided to eat outside despite the weather being quite nippy. We ordered our drinks, appetizers, and dinner. The trivia game ended about 20 minutes later.
