As much as I love Dallas, as Eric W. said, it's not L.A., it's not NYC...it's not that cool. Really, it's not. In fact any club in Dallas that makes you pay for a membership is a joke. The drinks are good, the atmosphere is good, but the people watching is the best. You will find what I like to refer to as "the barracuda" running amok here. That would be the male equivalent of a cougar. You know the type, about 40, recently divorced, still thinks the Miami Vice sport coat-and-jeans look is in and has money to burn on pretty young women with no I.Q. to speak of. You may either be that type of woman or, for the free drinks, pretend to be one. If so, this is your place. Which like I said, makes the people watching fantastic. Candle Room is SOOO 5 years ago. Once upon a time, it might have been a playground for the moneyed "elite." Memberships were envied, and you really had to know someone to get past the velvet ropes. Fast forward a few years. It's no thing to get in, even though they keep up the pretense of membership. The so-called upper crust has moved on, only to be replaced by $30,000 millionaires. I should preface this by saying that I was surprised, because I'm usually one for more of an egalitarian atmosphere, not one that is known to prefer the pretty people. But you get inside and it is oh so pretty. Could totally be in South Beach... or so you think ;) SoBe is too dirty for this place. Could so totally be in downtown Miami. The bar is ample and there weren't that many people when we first got there (okay, so it was like 9:30), so we got drinks no problem. The music was good, couldn't stop dancing ;) But... (isn't there always a but) I totally got the vibe that this place is not someplace that I'll go back to a lot. Word is that they refuse entry to people who don't look the part and that they used to (maybe they still do) have high end call girls hanging out on the sides. We got in, then we got into the VIP section. Didn't see any call girls, but I thought it was totally lame that my friend wanted to sit down because her feet were hurting and the bouncer kicked us off a couch because it was reserved. Candle Room on a Wednesday = A Permanent Good Time. Thank you Candleroom I can always count on you when I have that humpday itch. A Dallas staple - I hear its been open for like 20+ years- it's a small club, but it packs a mega punch. I notice a few folks complaining about the kind of people in the club....well I don't really go to clubs to meet all of the people, I go to dance. Dancing is good excersize and it will help you relax. I usually do an MJ move for the doorman, which is probably why he's always nice to me, try it! It's that kind of place magical things happen - you may fall in love, you may dance on a banquette (I would never do that candleroom ;) promise), you may have a random Asian oil tycoon purchase a table and a couple of bottles for you and leave, never to be seen again. I am giving this place 3 stars because I saw a guy from LMFAO on a random Wednesday night and thought it was cool to see a music celeb in the same club as I am. I did have fun dancing with my friends, but dayum, this place needs work. First things, first... it is super hard to get in as a guy. I thought it just be like any club in Dallas where I could just walk in and have a good time. NO! I was with two of my girlfriends and was declined by the doorman because I was wearing shorts even though some dude got in with shorts on. Okay, I understood that there is a dress code. A friend's friend's friend got an extra pair of pants so we could get in. After trying to get in again, we were still declined because of not having reservation or some lame reason. The friend's friend's friend had to pay the doorman for letting us in. The room was small on the inside and there was just a lot of issues with certain spots blocked off for commoners like us. It was not packed at all and I don't see why they are giving us such a hard time going in. I enjoyed the music they were playing, but the crowd was boring as f***. Everyone was just standing around, attempting to have some sort of intellectual conversation against the loud music, and just remotely bopping up and down. This is not the place where the crowd makes you feel like dancing. My friends and I did dance anyways and not let the others ruin the moment. The crowd is definitely of the mature type and apparently lacking in the booty shaking department. The drinks were expensive, but whatever. This place tried to make it exclusive with all of these barriers and superficiality, but the isn't anything special. Sure... I heard celebs come here and saw LMFAO, but it won't be a place I want to come and have fun. The grandpas and the women looking for suga daddies can't handle my ass anyways. read more

The Dallas Cotillion Club celebrated its 2017 Gala Theme "Reveal" Party at the Candle Room! The Events coordinator was extremely responsive and accommodating to the many specific requests we had: 1) Specific colored Drink Tickets 2) Specialty Themed Cocktail 3) Movie Projector 4) DJ to play music AND make announcements. The owner of the Candle Room was also great to work with. He made time to meet with me and was able to create a spectacular event within our Budget. Horrible experience here! Paid $50 for reservations but was still declined getting in. One of our friends had thrown up as we arrived and he was declined to get in, so we took him home and when we came back, they still wouldn't let us in. After talking to management all they said was, "sorry you'll have to work it out with the bouncers." There is definitely no lounges in ft.worth that are selective, great ambiance and amazing music like Candleroom. Had some issues at the door on the last visit, but was able to talk to the manager and he escorted us in. They did some remodeling from last time I had been here, but booths and bar are in the same place. Very cool back bar and wall of mirrors. Talked up the girl bartender and reminisced about past visits and trouble I use to get in. She ended up buying my group a round of shots. Crowd really started arriving around 11:30 and turned into full on club after that. We danced all night and was even invited to sit with another group who had a table. My friends were blown away and already wants to go back. Drinks were average priced and pretty strong. Talk the bartenders up and they stay very attentive. read more

Every time I have gone to Candle Room it is so packed beyond legal capacity that it was not only a fire hazard, but I was always fearful that being that far beyond the limit would make it easy for people to hide wrongdoing in the moshpit style crowd. You cannot walk without your drink spilling, you cannot move, you are breathing other people's oxygen, and you certainly cannot defend yourself because there isn't room to move your arms. The last and final time I ever went here was a few weeks ago, when it was once again so packed beyond capacity that I could not believe the police had not been involved. While trying to make my way from one end of this place to the other, which is nearly impossible with as crowded as they let it get, I was grabbed and fondled by 2 large men in a row. With the massive neck to neck shoulder to shoulder crowd there was absolutely no way to defend myself, or even contact someone that worked there and point out who had groped me. I will never go again because places this dark and over capacity are a danger to women, but I hope for the sake of candle room they get this issue under control. read more

The rest of the staff is very professional, always taking excellent care of their guests. Valet service is pretty quick for that area of town. Well if you would've asked me a few months ago I might have gave this place five stars but tonight changed it all. I came out with friend some who have been there before and some who have never been ( who I rant and raved to about the candleroom), they were all a loud in but I was told I needed a reservation. How can they not need one but I need one? I guess based on the bouncers option I wasn't attractive enough or maybe I was too fat. I could understand if I had something very revealing but it was just a skirt and top... I even went to the car and changed into my red bottoms. I've been there a few time and spent money, tipped, and been respectful. My feelings were very hurt and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and more. So I was thinking of having my party at Candleroom and the event staff lady Ashley told me she would put my sister and I on the list for a Wednesday night so I can see the venue. When I got to the door the security (James) said I was not on the list. I'm like oh no worries Ashley told me I would be on the list so I can see the venue for my party here's the email. James said well she didn't send the email to me so that's your issue you need to call her I don't have to see it. I'm like unfortunately I only have the office number so I asked him if it was possible to call/text her. He says no I'm not going to call or text her it's not my fault you're not on the list. Keep in mind there's no line at all. I'm also with my sister who was celebrating her birthday the next day. I said sir no need to be rude. Is it possible to speak to a manager. He's like I am the manager of security you aren't going to speak to Anyone else. A Caucasian lady walks up and he's like cmon on didn't have her I.D. At first didn't say her name or anything and he let her walk right in. I asked to speak to a manager again and finally he let me speak with Ali told him the situation and he let us right in. We came early about 10:30pm and it was not packed inside at all. We were also overdressed as some people had on tennis shoes and t-shirts. I asked a waitress for Ashley inside and she asked why and I told her the situation and she gave my sister and I free drinks. The staff inside was great but the first impression of James being so rude was enough for me not to spend my $2000+ dollars there and he's a poor representation of the club. It's unfortunate because I liked the ambience and set up. My suggestion is to hire security that is not rude And racist. Overall, we made the best of it the hour we were there since it was my sister birthday but definitely will not be back. read more

Was in town for work and we stopped by on a Wed night. We had no issues getting in. The place was busy with beautiful women everywhere. The bartenders were fast and the drinks were good. If I could give this place negative I would. Most unprofessional "club" I've ever been too and I'm a pretty normal attendee to the Dallas club atmosphere. I went to this club over a month ago and stood in a corner, trying to stay out of the way, while my roommate paid our tab so we could leave. Someone proceeds to tell me to move and I said I didn't have anywhere to go, mind you this place is extremely packed on Wednesday nights, and he proceeded to scream "bitch" while grabbing my arm to kick me out. I left and let it go as he said I wasn't banned but could not come back in that night. I returned this past Wednesday and as I was walking up to the door a man walks out and proceeds to tell my roommate and I as he is also talking to the door man, James, "fuck those bitches they ain't coming in my club". It's one thing to say, unfortunately I'm not going to be able to let you in due to whatever incident they claimed happened last time but to talk to a customer, a woman, who you don't even know like that was beyond unprofessional and disrespectful. I was appalled. If you have any respect for yourself or for what kind of environment you choose to participate in I would not recommend this club. Candleroom you have definitely not heard the last of me. You guys should really think before you speak because you never know who you're talking to. read more

Tonight my boyfriend and I were invited to a gathering for a wedding here, we arrived with two of the grooms brothers and one of their gf. They went inside while we parked. A few minutes later we tried to enter and the door guy was a total ___. So we called the family and they came to the door and said just say you are with (name-wedding party). I finished my cig and my bf and I told the bounce we are with __ wedding. He proceeds to tell us that he had no clue who that guy was, or the party he was referring to. Yes, yes...these places are always lightning rods for criticism. You either like going to nightclubs or you don't. I quite like them when I'm in the mood for one. Any club isn't the place you go for a few beers with your buds...they're around for people to dress up, be seen, dance, and cut loose without a care. Candleroom is no exception to that. Sure, you have your contingent of club rats, but this is also a place with beautiful people. Honestly, of all the clubs in Dallas, Candle is one of the better ones. Candle has a strict door policy, although they haven't been packing it in like they used to lately. It's like any other nightclub, though. The door isn't any more difficult to get in than any other club, although it does help to know someone. If you show up dressed sharp, you probably won't be hassled. It is very much a vanity thing, but it is what it is. Wednesday's are their big night, believe it or not. It's often really packed with a crowd having a great time dancing all night. The weekends have been slow lately. I hope it's not indicative of a change! This has always been one of my favorite go-crazy places in Dallas for years. Once you're in, drinks aren't cheap and can sometimes take a couple minutes to get a new one once they get busy. Again, if you're here, you're at a nightclub...you're paying for the entertainment. Great live DJ music played loud all night. As the night progresses, the crowd gets a few of their favorite adult beverages down and dancing breaks out everywhere. The door guy continues to be the same prejudice person I met in 2013. James mentioned that if my friends didn't work for the bar industry or got a bottle we couldn't get in. Sorry but my friends are employed by Fortune 500 companies and are professionals within the insurance and transportation industries. If you don't throw him $40 a head for each guy he will not let you in. He facetiously laughed when I asked what the big deal was on Wednesday night. I've been coming here years and the worse thing is that it's completely gone down the drain as multiple patrons happen to be in the illicit drug business. As a previous law enforcement employee I can tell it is not a good environment. Please do yourself the favor of refraining from attending this establishment. I will never attend this bar and will refrain from referring hundreds of people from ever attending this establishment as it is nothing but humiliating to stand in line and be spoken to as if I am of a lower social class by this door man. I have only been on Wedneday nights. I love it! I believe that it is Ladies' night so men are required to be on a list unless accompanied by a female. It has a big crowd, especially for a weekday. In addition to having a big crowd, it is very diverse in ethnicity, age, and class as well. This is definitely a melting pot among clubs. We came in here with some people we met at Vickery Park on a recent trip to Dallas. All I can say is "wow". This place is like a circus..lol.. Leslie P. and Shanna L. hit the nail on the head, but it's still a cool place to go once a year while in Dallas. There is lots to see if you like to people watch - from beautiful 'real' people, to beautiful 'fake' people, to drunk people falling down.
