Lovely seashell candles and they last forever. My friends loved them. Also, the beeswax candles are a great quality.

When she came back to me she was in literal TEARS out of frustration because of the encounter she had with the staff from this location. She proceeded to explain to me how when she walked in three staff members which she described as the typical white girls ( blonde, tall, slick back and lots of jewelry) stayed by the cash registers and rather than attending to her like ANY OTHER STAFF AT ANY OTHER STORE WOULD DO they simply stared at her and mean mugged her. Mind you we're hispanic and you could tell from a mile away, so obviously this isn't something one would take lightly. She stayed in the store for a few minutes and decided to ignore the nasty stares she was receiving from the staff but she noticed how when another customer who was fully WHITE, the staff actually went over and attended them, asked them questions and all of that stuff. Now to me I see this as very obvious racism how come when a white person wants to come in now you want to be all up in their face asking if they need help but when it's a person of another race you wanna put stank faces on ??? what kind of person does that?. Overall this store has employees with disgusting behaviors who are clearly racist and I am beyond furious about it, DO NOT SHOP HERE.

Bonnie and everything she makes (!! On site!!) are so darn cool and magical. Her shop is tucked away in a little nook between downtown Carmel and a residential neighborhood, so it might be easy to miss. Absolutely walkable from anywhere you park, of course, and 100% worth the visit even if you don't buy anything! I wish I asked more about the teas and remedies she makes, but she has so many of them targeting any ailment a human could possibly have. I was more interested in her candles (my guilty hoarding pleasure) because I love crystals and their meanings. Her smaller ones in the gold vessels are $52 and larger ones in locally made pottery are at least $150 I believe. Everything she offers is on her website except her beautiful candles since they sell so fast! My friend had her eyes on a pink quartz candle, but I said we can come back right before it closes if she's still thinking about it then. Of course we went back, and she actually fell in love with a different candle! ...and I did too. I first saw one with dominos that looked cool, but when we came back I saw one with a lapis egg. Bonnie had just made it that afternoon and set them on the display. We both LOVE the joy and peace our candles bring us :) Truly straight out of a fairy tale, the tiny spell shop by the sea!

I had heard about this little gem, known as the last bookstore in Carmel, but hadn't had the time to stop by until this trip. The selection of books was decent, and the service was good. I was even able to find and purchase a book that had been on my to-read list. The books were reasonably priced but some of the garden stuff was pricey. The Secret Garden was especially relaxing and beautiful. I really enjoyed walking through it, taking my time, and simply taking it all in. Definitely a lovely little spot to visit while in Carmel!

They have a wonderful selection of books, tarot cards, crystals, and of course, the secret garden... how does it get any better than that? Tucked in the back is a charming little shop with a cute selection of décor, wind chimes, candles, and more. Absolutely loved this bookstore. As a bookstore lover, this one is definitely at the top of my list

We stopped by today after brunch and I wandered through the gallery admiring the ceramics, glass, soaps and other wares. Everything is locally made, much of it by Bay Area artisans. Lovely music played overhead, classical guitar by a local musician. I chatted w/ the gallery owner, Karen Reynolds, who told me a bit about where the work came from. One of the most impressive pieces was a stunning Chanukah menorah made of stainless steel and copper. She told me it took the artist 130 hours to create! He's making the next one of bronze, which will take less time because of the respective properties of the various metals. I didn't even ask how much it cost. This one is made to hold candles, the next one oil. Alan came in heard the overhead music and asked about it. We mentioned the loss of both the classical and jazz radio stations here and how we've been stuck w/ a garbage station in the car. Karen mentioned that KRML was Clint Eastwood's station. It pleased me that he bought and brought it back to life. Alan bought a CD, but I know KRML's place on the dial, so I knew we could find it. We did and unfortunately it's not what it was. We listened to the CD in the car and it will be a lovely addition to our music collection. We'll probably return tomorrow before we head home so I can look at some of the pieces that have been calling to me. The gallery has been open in this location for 10 months. As of April 1 it will be moving to Carmel-by-the-Sea where it will be located on San Carlos between Ocean and 7th. I'm sure it will be right at home in its new location and wish Karen well. I look forward to visiting the next time we're in the area.

Prices as expected (NOT overpriced), discount refill programs on soil and fertilizer, locally grown more exotic baby plants, and plenty of inventory and variety to choose from. The owner, Jess, just has such a calm, everywoman vibe about her, and she is so genuinely helpful! Not fake friendly or preoccupied/bothered or standoffish and know-it-all...just helpful and wise and experienced and upfront! I've seen her handle nosy, pushy customers with sincere help and without making them feel bad...that speaks volumes to me. Stepping into her shop, her absolute lil oasis, makes my day slow down a little and makes me take a deep breath and start looking at things a lil more closely. She's taken this space and just lushed it out to the max! It looks freaking incredible. I see from her regular social media posts that she designs and maintains indoor plant displays in multiple local businesses, too. I generally don't have any trouble finding parking when I come during the week, which is a treat for Carmel! I love this little location! Only about 1.5 blocks off Ocean Avenue, but a much more relaxed and friendly and everyday small town vibe is found in this shopping center. This place is a gem! Get here and support this lovely woman and her shop STAT! You will not be sad that you stopped in! Should be 10 stars!
