I want candy. Willy Wonka ain't got nothing on this place. Fudge and all sorts of candies. I always get their fresh fried mini donuts(so good). The fudge assortment is extensive. My fave is Orange cream. (Who my try to kid I love them all) the ones with nuts or the plain JUST TO MUCH TO CHOOSE.. Great tasting sweets and made in Old Forge NY. They also sell candy cigarettes and that's an old time candy. They do sell other things as well. They don't just sell candy you can get a stuffed animal while your there. Really it is also a souvenir shop. But popcorn and candy is why I keep going back. Small store with a small town charm. I visit Old Forge 4 to 5 times a year and we stop every time we are in Old Forge

What I expected was a touristy candy shop with isles of overpriced candy to browse through and ultimately settle on some fudge and whatever the local specialty is. What we experienced was sort of meh and not what we expected. The fudge was decent, but I got the sense that it wasn't made on site. The interior was outdated and the staff seemed uninterested in being there.

This is somewhat of a tourist trap. The store is full of ADK souvenirs (t-shirts, mugs, stickers, keychains, etc). The freshly made donuts are good but when are warm donuts ever not?. The chocolates were probably good when they were fresh but the ones I got were stale (not acceptable at the price they charge). The fudge is better than the chocolate but still a little pricey. They claim to make everything from scratch. They do have a wide variety of sweets but I cannot imagine that they have the volume to turn over inventory fast enough to keep things tasting their best. I recommend sticking to their donuts (and anything else they make in small batches when you request it).

We absolutely love their fudge, so much that Larry was kind enough to ship 5 lbs of fudge to Florida.

First, from the outside, it looks fairly typical, inside is clean, and has whatever type of candy or chocolate you desire. Amazing experience. They have a guest sign in sheet where you sign in, leave a message and place a pin in your hometown. The staff were friendly, helpful and just delightful to be around. I came for the fruity pebble bark. As luck would have it, it was one of the few things they were out of, it's popular, that's probably for a reason. So we got a couple of small bags of chocolate. I for milk chocolate covered pecans and my wife, dark chocolate covered toasted coconut. Their chocolate is next level good! I've been around, I frequent any local candy places I can. This was fresh, rich, flavorful. Some of the best chocolate I've had. Do yourself a favor and if you're in the Syracuse area, make Hercules candy a place you visit. You will be glad you did.

Ok, so I saw this cute video on YouTube about viral blue cream chocolates. I loved the look of the…read morecandies and the process of making them, and figured I'd try them out ... just once on a whim. My wife light heartedly teased me, "you did not just spend $$ on a box of candy from an unknown shop on the other side of the country!" I was worried about them surviving the trip to Fresno. Well, they arrived today, perfectly intact with a tiny bit of chill left in the cooler pack to keep them that way. My wife tried one (it's up to four, I think, now), and then she wanted to know the name of "this shop I found". She immediately dug up the shop's website and began picking favorites. Hercules now has two solid fans now in Fresno. My wife has been looking for years for a chocolate experience she's missed for all that time, and these provided that. It's fantastic that you can order light, dark, or mixed as well as creams, nuts, or mixed to get exactly the variety you like best. We got all dark and a mix of fillings. They are perfectly sweet without being cloyingly so. And both the chocolate and the cream inside are so smooth without a hint of the crystalization present in even premium brand mass-produced chocolates (think Godiva). I should probably add that I love them, too. But I had a feeling I would watching them being made, so that was kind of expected. The red creams are amazing! There were some crunchy toffee ones that I really loved as well. I haven't hit a blue one yet like in the video, oddly enough, but there are plenty more to go! We will definitely be having more shipped out this way before the 100°F summer months make that too risky.

We've bought…read morechocolates for ourselves, holidays, and gifts, and visiting Krause's has always been a tradition whenever I returned to New York after living in Florida. In fact, it was the very first stop my husband and I made because I couldn't wait to enjoy my favorite chocolates again. Unfortunately, this visit was incredibly disappointing. The first thing I noticed was the new logo and packaging. While I know businesses evolve, the new design loses the classic, elegant feel that made Krause's so special and instead looks much more generic. More importantly, the chocolates themselves are not the same. Many of the pieces are noticeably smaller than they used to be, and the chocolate tastes different. Several pieces even had bloom, which affected both their appearance and texture. I purchased a variety of chocolates, including individual pieces from the display case, chocolate bars, and peppermint patties, and every product seemed to reflect a decline in quality. To make matters worse, many of my longtime favorite pieces were no longer available. I've happily recommended Krause's for years because it consistently offered some of the best homemade chocolates in the Capital Region. This time, however, I left feeling disappointed and honestly saddened. I truly hope the owners will consider returning to the quality, recipes, and traditions that built Krause's outstanding reputation, because many longtime customers remember how exceptional their chocolates used to be.
