We visit every year on our annual trip to Fourth Lake near Inlet,NY. They have Dole Whip, Perry's hard ice cream, Gelato and soft serve. In the past I've gotten gelato and enjoyed it. This year I tried a drumstick flavored blizzard with peanuts and hard chocolate and cone pieces like the classic supermarket cone. My only complaint is the soft ice cream is too icy and melted quickly. My son got dole whip pineapple and strawberry and was happy with it. Another in our group got mint chocolate chip hard ice cream and it was tasty. Next time I'll go back to the gelato. Can't beat the view of the lake from nearby Arrowhead Park. read more

I have been coming here since I was a kid. I remember when they first added the gelato to their menu. It is my favorite thing there. But only if they have a flavor I like. When I was there last summer, there was only a small handful of option flavors, just why it is missing one star. My parents love the ice cream here as well. The young servers are always so pleasant and friendly. On a nice day, the line is very long, but the service does not lack. Inlet, what a cute little town! My fiancé and I camped about 15 minutes away from town and would drive in for some ice cream and a view down by the beach. It was always busy when we stopped by, but the lines went quick. It's cash only but tax is included in the prices displayed. We had several flavors of the hard ice cream and the quality was pretty great! Super rich and creamy. Both of our favorites was the Graham Canyon. We both got two scoops in a cup and came out to be $11.50, so a tad pricey, but it was all for the vibes. Tasted great too so no complaints here! read more

Stopped in for some icecream and advised the server we had food allergies. They went above and beyond with washing hands and opening a new container of sprinkles. The kiddie cones were a good size. Plenty of seating and a short walk to the beach to enjoy the sunset and icecream. read more

I found my new favorite ice cream place! The only downsides are that it's cash only and so far away from Texas. There are so many options from regular/speciality ice cream, gelato, shakes, sundaes, coffee shakes, etc. I was visiting my boyfriend's family in the Adirondacks, which is how I was able to learn about this place. We went twice in two days and our very large groups each day were able to get our desserts quickly and without error. To speak to the crazy number of menu options, I don't think anyone ever ordered the same thing as anyone else! My absolute favorite flavor was the cannoli - the mascarpone and ricotta makes it much much creamier than regular ice cream though it's listed as an ice cream and the little chocolate chip pieces add just the right amount of crunchy texture to keep interesting. I also tried the black raspberry chip flavor but it was a bit icy and more fruity than creamy to my disappointment, which is more of a flavor preference than a knock on the ice cream. On both days, the boyfriend ordered the vanilla soft serve dipped in cherry - it looks like fake vampire blood (avoid wearing white) and didn't have the strongest cherry flavor. read more

Another shop owner told me they are not opening until July 4, which is disappointing (since I won't be here)...after watching numerous groups of people approach the stand and look confused and forlorn, I thought I would flag it for others. Northern Lights is pretty great. My week in ADK, I ate there every night (sometimes twice), just because I wanted to try every sundae on the menu. Plus, they carry Perry's ice cream, which I love and don't see often. There is often a line, but they move you so quickly while simultaneously still chatting with customers and treating them like people. Sundaes default with soft ice cream, you can switch over to hard for a dollar extra, and near as I could tell, you could make basically any additions/substitutions you wanted, probably only some of them cost extra. The banana split they made me was transcendent, I mean that. The strawberry sundae they made me actually stopped a girl in her tracks while I was on my way to the docks to eat it. (There is outdoor seating, but why wouldn't you go to the park/the docks.) The ice cream and gelato flavors switch out regularly, which is great but also awful because that means I have to try actually everything. read more

Northern Lights is by far my favorite ice cream place. They have this flavor called Gold Rush that is absolutely to die for. I searched around for it but unfortunately none can be found or delivered to me in Maryland so I only get to frequent Northern Lights and this wonderful flavor when on vacation.
