We came by Friday only to see it was only open Saturdays and Sundays. We decided to return on Sunday. Had a hiccup that delayed our boat trip to Bowen Island. I called up Candy in the Cove to see if they would be willing to stay open 30 minutes later for us. The owner, Jan, had dinner reservations at 5pm but said she will see what she can do especially when her carts will be already placed back in the store. 5:40pm she calls me to tell me she was at the store. We raced over to find so many cute and one-of-a-kind sweets and chips. My youngest one was so amazed. She said, "Wow the smallest candy shop in the world has the most candy!" So many that I have to come back much earlier to take my time in there. Jan made 5 kids very happy! To top it off, it was Jan's birthday and she had her party to attend to but she was so kind and patient to open her shop back up for us. This hidden gem should be on everyone's bucket list! It is really a tiny candy shop. We chanced upon this place while out walking along the main road from the ferry terminal. We saw the sign and followed it. It has all kinds of candies, especially those from the UK. We spoke to the owner and she mentioned she would buy them when traveling in Europe. There are all kinds of licorice flavors, great if you are a fan. There are Walker chips (or crisps) and Freddo chocolate bars. Yums. It reminds me of my childhood books by Enid Blyton, reading about candy shops in the UK. A nice place to check out, especially if you are into sweets. read more

An unsuspecting location, a tiny sized store, but loaded with myriads choices of candy!!! Upon entry of the shop, I was swamped with nostalgia. So many choices, so many colors, it took me a bit of time to settle down and actually see the items clearly! The Nerds candy stood out, as I haven't had these in at least ten years. Then came the other items: a whole collection of Hello Kitty Pez dispensers (I had to resist), rock candy, licorice, wine gums, jawbreakers, saltwater taffy....you name it, they'll have it. I'm amazed at their selection, and how they're able to fit everything into such a small shop. Don't miss this shop as you'll find something for sure! read more

We almost gave up on this place because the original Yelp address looked like you needed a car to get there... but the candy spirits were looking out for us and we found this cute, itty bitty shop just a short straight walk and a left from the ferry terminal World's Smallest Candy Shop here I come! When they said it was small, it's small! Meaning about 4 people can comfortably browse in that shop. Once it cleared out a little, I skipped and giggled my way in. I truly, TRULY felt like a kid in a candy store! Whoever organized this candy store was a genius or a genie because I have no clue how they were able to pack so much goodness in this cubicle of a store! Left, right, up, down, sideways, skyways, there is sugar and all things your dentist and dietitian may cringe but everything in moderation right? or not! ;) I was overwhelmed and over stimulated with all the different types of goodies there were... Nerds, Taffy, Bonbons, Salt water taffies, Sour candies, Chocolates, Chips, Pez, Sour keys, caramels, everything your sweet taste buds desire, or maybe even something they don't expect! I enjoyed browsing all the different snacks from different places, like Walker Chips from London - Shrimp Cocktail flavor is yum! I especially enjoyed the range of hard, chewy BonBons they had on their wall. The lady working there was so sweet and was more than willing and helpful in picking up 4 bonbons of each flavour (must have been at least 8 flavours.. apple, blue raz, watermelon, cola, chocolate, lemon, cherry, peach, rhubarb, and more!) Jumping with joy with my bag of Bonbons... enough said... you MUST visit! read more

Hello Candy Fans! Bowen Island isn't exactly across the street (unless you live on Gambier), but it is the home of the World's Smallest Candy Store, Candy in the Cove. Just a few steps up from where the BC Ferry leaves you off in Snug Cove, rests a closet of a candy store. This place is a candy lover's dream, crammed full of all sorts of sweets and featuring a large collection of imported UK candies as well as a ton of vintage candy (remember Pop Rocks, Wax Lips or Thrills Gum? yep, they got 'em and more). It's more than just a tiny candy store tho, it's an experience, every square inch of this minuscule sweet shop is covered, from the custom piñatas on the ceiling to the penny candies (now, more like 25¢) on the floor in jars and boxes. The owner, Jan, who bought it a few years ago from the stores originators Michelle and Russell, is warm and friendly and always willing to find the candy of your dreams. Don't be afraid to ask for what you don't see, the reason the store features so much British candy is due to the outspoken nature of the large ex-pat population of Brits on Bowen Island. And if you visit on a Sunday, don't forget to try your luck with the Official TV Theme Show Game, free candy for everyone who wins. There is definitely a candy for every taste in this store and lots of "can't get this anywhere" else brands that make the ferry ride totally worth it. My husband & I are from states (California) & love visiting Vancouver. We had never been to Bowen Island so we hopped on the ferry as foot passengers. We spotted this colorful sign pointing to the rear of a bldg saying "smallest candy store in the world." What a surprise as we indeed walked into the smallest candy store packed & I do mean packed with an incredible array of candy, including licorice from all over the world, sold by weight. But the best part of this discovery was meeting Jan, the owner, who is the loveliest, warmest shop owner we have ever encountered. Do yourself a favor & visit the "smallest candy store in the world." Awesome. If you ever see a little blonde girl working there... its me! My mom used to own the shop, along with the current owners. I find that the shop is a awesome place. Whenever im working and an adult comes in, the almost always say " Woah... I remember these!!!" or " Oh i used to LOVE these!!!". If you ever come and visit, be sure to come in and visit! read more

Super cute shop advertised as the "Smallest Candy Store". The owner was super nice and let us try some sweets before buying.

We stopped in after our lunch on the dock, "just to look", and of course ended up leaving with as much candy as we could! We are both not huge junk food fans, but like to try new things and this place brought us both back. We aren't THAT old (early 30/late 20s) but we both saw some candy that reminded us of childhood! The shop is small, but full to the brim of every candy imaginable! Candy from Europe, France and Australia.... We were suggested to try the French Bon bons and left with a few hand picked bags along with a little bento box full of salt water taffy. The owner is adorable too! Highly recommend! read more

Beware of this shop and this woman! This woman came across as being friendly and honest yet she totally ripped us off. We bought a bag of Thornton's treacle toffee and when we got home, we realised that it had expired 13 months prior and the price label had covered the expiration date. The toffee was crystallized and inedible. She also told us that she didn't sell any American candy but sold us a bag of what she said was candy from France and when we opened it up, it was all American candy, including jelly bellies. We send her a comment to her website and needless to say, she did not reply. It appears that con artists operate on this lovely little island! read more

I have always loved coming here, but I was very disappointed with my last visit when I bought one of their mystery bags for $2.50. All of my candy was at least one year past the expiry date and the majority of it was milk based products. read more
