We stopped here during a recent road trip the selection of candy was excellent. The staff was friendly, efficient and polite. I tried their chocolate covered pickle this is a must try item, and more delicious than I would have thought. We also bought way too much taffy but it was all very good. read more

Fun place to stop with kids. They have a huge array of candy including a whole wall of bulk candy, chocolates and taffy all sold by pound. There is also a candy case with various treats including a chocolate covered pickle (SKIP IT!). They had rows and rows of packaged candy including nostalgic favorites and a variety from other countries. It's a little pricier than what you'd pay in the store but it's a touristy stop and they have a ton of options. They also have mini golf but we didn't have time to play during our stop. If you're in the area and looking for a fun detour for the kids, this is a good option to keep them happy! read more

Candyland!! Just the name itself makes me want to visit. Who doesn't like candy? The store is enormous with lots of candy, snack, and beverage options. Before you even step inside the store, there is a cool looking minature golf course outside the shop. No time for us to play though. We bought several candies that we do not see often plus some items that we've never seen. My favorite candy was a Wild Huckleberry Chocolate bar made in South Dakota. Yummy! Anyways. it's a nice place to check out when you are traveling in this part of South Dakota. read more

This place was pretty cool. We swung in on our way to Mt Rushmore because, well frankly it said ice cream and looked cool. I'm happy to say that while it was very touristy, it was worth going to. The kids loved their ice cream and they have a huge selection of different candy and a ridiculous amount of soda. We didn't play the mini golf because of our schedule but it looks pretty cool too. They even have some cool sweaters and shirts that are reasonably priced and my wife says kept her nice and warm on the 40ish degree hike at Mt Rushmore. I'm pretty excited to eat the chocolate covered pickle haha. read more

Everything is overpriced, but hey, what'd you expect for a store that has ALL CANDY IMAGINABLE. Don't come hungry as you'll spend $30 plus dollars on candy as I did. There's also a mural of Mt. Rushmore inside the store, which made for a great picture. read more

We stopped into Candyland on our road trip and I was very impressed! Definitely the biggest candy store I've ever been in. They had a very large variety (especially of salt water taffy!!). Kids loved it! Clean. So many varieties of everything. Little pricey so expect to spend about $50 if you have kids or a spouse that is like a literal kid in a candy store. Homemade chocolate covered bacon & chocolate covered pickles were awesome. But I suggest eat the homemade things in the store because they refrigerate them. As soon as you step outside, the chocolate melts (this is typical in the hot summer months). Would go again! read more

Lots of choices. We went during the off season, so I was disappointed that they were not more choices and the shelves were not more stocked. It appeared to be the bare minimum. No need to jump two more purple spaces your there. You've literally made it to the candy castle! I didn't really expect much from this establishment as it is on a more "touristy" route of the Black Hills, but I was so very pleasantly surprised upon arrival. My brood stopped by for fun on the way to a quick visit to Mount Rushmore. They offered Free bounce houses and outdoor games for the weekend. After my kiddos were tuckered out we braced ourselves to make what I thought was going to be a quick trip to the candy store. Gosh was I wrong. We spent a good 25 minutes just walking through the isles. We were greeted with free samples ( A giant bag of Australian strawberry licorice), friendly staff, and the sights of literal candy heaven! Rock candy? What flavor because they had them all. Old fashioned candy such as lemon heads, cherry heads, coke bottles, marshmallow filled ice cream cones, sugary liquid filled wax bottles, candy cigarettes, and even a "made to order" cotton candy machine. Want to feel like some ridiculous celebrity that refuses to allow their red m&m's to touch the other colors in the bag? Well they have a wall of every single color and then some all separated and ready for you to fill your candy bags. Have a hankering for Mexican candy? Dear heavens stock up on your chili covered tamarinds there. In fact don't forget your candy passport because they have candy from Japan, Germany, Sweden, and the list goes on. When you are finished skipping through the isles and clicking your heels together because they actually have that longed for childhood favorite, wash it down with a cold glass bottle of whatever flavor of pop (soda for you easterners) you like. Even corn flavored. They also have ice cream, coffee, and indoor seating. If you want to sit outside with your ice cream or bottle of pop they have outdoor seating as well. This place is one of those MUST stop places. They have something special for every kiddo and kiddo at heart. I promise you, you won't find another place like it. This place would make Willy Wonka weep tears of defeat. Plus you're supporting local. Enjoy! read more
