Perfect spot to grab some donuts. I wanted to get some to have on the road-trip back to Colorado. Parking was fine in a smaller lot. Walked in and was greeted very warmly right away. The donuts were set up in baskets on a shelf and below in a case , there was a pricing board up on a wall. Very easy ordering. You can sometimes just get overwhelmed at new school donut shops with lines out the door , not here , old school hospitality all the way. I ordered 6 donuts and as they were being boxed up out walks Jerry with a smile and "good morning to you" that was nice. He went about restocking donuts and I grabbed some napkins and took a few more photos on my way out. The donuts were delightfully good. There is an invisible rule, that is called: "Getting Comfortable." When people start getting comfortable while at the same time they start to slack in what once was their core, like Customer Service for example, sooner than later that business starts to fade away. Nothing is forever on this earth, a new influx is arriving to this town, and with the poor, and arrogant Customer Service that these people offer, it's just a matter of time when they'll be replaced!! If you cannot be polite and respectful with the very people that bring you profit and pay your salary, I will Not spend my money on your business, and continue encouraging your lousy behavior!! Besides that your Donuts are nothing spectacular!! Their Donuts are "Not" impressive, nothing, that you would say, "let's give them another try" Not even!! I've always wanted to come try this location because I come from Missoula and I moved from California so in California there was amazing glaze donuts everywhere but in Missoula there was not any good glazed donuts at all that existed and trust me I tried so many different places nothing cut it ! but finally I was visiting family in Rapid City South Dakota and got to be able to make it early enough to get the fresh pic of all of the donuts that this place had to offer I'm so excited to try it and let me tell you the second I got into my car I open my box and took a bite of each of my donuts and fell in love immediately. Even if you are not a jelly filled person I would definitely recommend trying the black raspberry long John, The texture of the doughnut is so amazing and the glaze on top is not overly sweet. The honey dip is their original glaze and honestly it is so good, I kind of wish I got four instead of two I really loved this place also because the lady that was helping me she was so happy and super talkative and I really just love connecting with people I felt very welcomed here and not rushed at all although a huge line started to develop behind me I wish I would've gotten her name but I didn't, she had darker black hair and wore blue eyeliner, she was such a sweetie! We went to Jerry's Cakes and donuts excited to support a local Rapid City business. We arrived at 11am and the posted hours were that they're open from 5am to Noon. We got there with my mom and dad and my wife and four children and before we even ordered a man was setting up chairs upside down on the tables. It made me feel extremely unwelcome to be there. Jerry's quality has gone downhill over the past couple of years. We have tried multiple times and the donuts aren't like they used to be. Oily tasting, too soft, smaller size, dull flavors, and undercooked bacon. Maybe they have switched to frozen dough or cut corners somewhere. Overall if other donut shops are closed, I'll go to Jerry, but there are better options in town (some of which even offer a military discount) read more

Absolutely incredible donuts! I was visiting from New York and decided to swing by in the morning and I couldn't believe how many different kinds of donuts they had. There had to be over 20 different kinds -- insane. We tried six different ones and LOVED the pumpkin cake donut, caramel roll and apple fritter the best. For a sign proclaiming "Black Hills Best Donut", I was hoping for a good experience. The day before I visited, the Facebook page of this business was advertising their next day donut specials. The strawberry rhubarb fritter & the birthday cake donut holes. Upon my arrival, I was informed that the birthday cake donut holes weren't ready yet. I was able to get the strawberry rhubarb fritter, along with a Long John & a cake donut. Since I couldn't go inside the store, I inquired about the description of a particular donut, which I wasn't familiar with. The worker had no clue what the donut consisted of. The strawberry rhubarb fritter had no flavor whatsoever. There was a red swirl in the fritter, but that was it. Out of the 3 donuts that were purchased, 2 went into the trash. read more

Well well well what do we have here. It's the only donut shop in all of Rapid City. We're lucky they're actually good! I only had the Boston creme on this visit. Based on that donut alone, I'd say that Jerry's is better than Dunkin' Donuts, but not as good as Krispy Kreme. Does Krispy Kreme even count as a donut though? They're just sugar-covered air. ANYHOW, definitely eat your donuts fresh. It's a lot better. My roommates brought some home before, and at that point they were hardly up to par with Dunkin'. When I arrived at 8am on a Sunday, they had a short line and a few people in the dining area, which is really good considering what a small town this is! I got put in charge of bringing donuts for a work meeting, and being brand-new to Rapid I just chose the donut shop closest to work. Apparently I chose well because all my longtime local coworkers told me Jerry's is "a legend". I'd have to agree. Walked in at 7:30 on a weekday...there was a line but it moved quickly. There were older men drinking coffee, plus women with little kids eating donuts and drinking chocolate milk, and everyone was super friendly, staff and customers alike. They have a wide variety of doughnuts, but don't expect to get much time to figure out what you want. There is a continuous line to the counter from the door and the only time you can see the options is when you get to the counter and are having to order. The doughnut are surprisingly fresh and delicious. This is a great stop for doughnuts although it's the only doughnut shop in Rapid City. I have traveled all over the country and tried so many donuts in so many cities and I have to say that Jerry's are the most delicious I have had! I chose three donuts to split between two days, the apple fritter, the raised vanilla frosted, and the blueberry cake. The apple fritter was perfectly crunchy/fried and glazed on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. I cannot explain it, it was amazing! This one was by far my favorite. The raised vanilla frosted was so doughy and perfectly fried. And the blueberry was so moist and flavorful! I'm upset I didn't try this place sooner during our stay! My first time coming here, I was very impressed that I could spend 64 cents for a perfectly good (though slightly stale, at 10am) treat. Came back with the boyfriend a week later, and was disappointed. It was 11:45 on a Saturday morning, and as we walked in, the staff were furiously cleaning and yelled "we're closing in 15 minutes, just so you know!" They acted very impatient as we decided what we wanted. I ordered a blueberry flip, since the front one in the case looked so delicious and oozing with filling. She promptly selected the one in the back with the least filling and gave it to me. After my boyfriend ordered, they dumped our donuts in a bag and rushed us out the door. They were still supposed to be open. I realized as we were leaving that I wanted water, but thought they'd be too mad if I went back in to ask for some. The blueberry flip was ok -- it was dry and borderline stale; the filling was just over-sweetened jelly. Overall, we spent $5.24 for five donuts and one coffee. I would've asked more about the pricing if we hadn't been so rushed (like, is it cheaper per donut to get a dozen?).
