We stopped to use the restroom and walked next door to check out the cracklin. I personally don't eat cracklin but saw that they have chicken cracklin. I had to try it. I was impressed. It was tasty, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I also had a meat pie, which was just as good. The guy working in there said that they had been opened for about 2 weeks. The food and service was horrible. We were overcharged. The cashier did nothing to rectify the situation and pointed to a sign that said prices and menu items are subject to change. Their online menu and the available printed menu inside the restaurant showed the same prices but when we reviewed the final receipt the bill was about 30% more. I'd be fine with the price hike if the food tasted decent but it was not. I ordered a catfish burger. The bun was burned, the catfish strips were tiny and unseasoned. When asked if they could add lettuce and tomato to the sandwich, the response was we don't have lettuce and tomato. So it was just bread, cheese, pickles, and their special sauce which a was bland take on Thousand Island salad dressing. My husband had their famous pork crackling, a pepper jack boudin ball, and their pathetic take on chicken and sausage gumbo. Nothing was appeasing and he didn't finish any of it. My toddler had the kids chicken strips and fries. The two stars are for the authentic and very beautiful, artistic decor. It's seasoned meat, breaded and deep-fried. It's greasy and yummy and will clog your arteries. The Pepper Jack Boudin Ball is a meatball-type-thing with pepper jack cheese in the middle stringed by boudin and cooked. Boudin is usually a ground pork, rice and seasoning mixture. The gumbo was a complete bust for me. So was the lukewarm sausage. But the pièce de résistance was the awesome catfish. I sweat catfish in Louisiana is better than anywhere else. This particular Quibodeaux's is located next to a convenient store. They have a drive-through window no inside seating. You can buy stuffed chicken and any other uncooked frozen food as well as buying it all cooked. This place offers Boudin balls, fried chicken cracklings, pork Cracklin's, turkey wings, and many other Cajun foods. The chicken Cracklin's and pork Cracklin's are the trimmings skin, fat and meat fried in little pieces. It is quite good as is the meat pie. This is my first time to have a Boudin ball so I don't quite know how they're supposed to taste but it's good. I wish I had a dipping sauce I think it would be better. The staff is extremely friendly and are willing to answer your questions and let you taste something to see if you want it. The sausage and chicken gumbo was extremely salty and had a weird taste. It was a taste that was reminiscent of burnt flour and herbs. I had the catfish and shrimp plate. What really shocked me was they used crinkle cut fries. The fish and fries were so overcooked, but the fried corn was great and the shrimp were ok. Thank God they had great tauter sauce because it was the only way some of that food made it into my stomach. Oh, not to mention our teas were sour. Sad. This is a place we've been wanting to try since I moved to Pineville. Today we finally did and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is so cute inside. I'm from Crowley Louisiana it definitely gave me a feel for being back home in Cajun country. The food was great and our server was very polite and attentive. I visited the location on Calhoun today with my family, teens, a grandma and two adults. We're from California and had never had most of the things on the menu, but were game to try. The staff was so friendly and welcoming! Since we had no idea what boudin is, the manager grabbed us some samples and took us into the kitchen to show us how it's made. It was such an adventure and we had such a great time learning about these Louisiana classics from folks who grew up eating it.
