Tasty snacks, friendly staff, great music, good prices, what's not to like? Today I ordered an empanada & just for fun they made it HUGE (see pic)!

So good! Such friendly staff and delicious empanadas. I also got a canela latte (butterscotch, honey and cinnamon latte) and it was chef's kiss. It's super cozy and the comfy. The best place to slip away from the cold.

Great Dominican food, clean place with a variety of small bites and drinks. The staff was very nice, explained the menu and offer a delicious passion fruit drink. Was walking in the area with my son and we saw this little place, we decided to give it a try and omg, everything was on point, flavor and presentation.

Serious coffee people come to Canela because they know it has the best coffee and espresso in New York. Others come because the entire neighborhood loves the charismatic and super friendly young proprietors fondly nicknamed "Che & Fidel". I come because Starbucks is corny and Canela's empanadas are so fresh I thought I was in the DR. Whatever your reason, if you are lucky enough to live in Crown Heights, or if you are visiting the museum, or if you just need a pick me up - Canela can make it happen.

Great Latin American Cafe! Serving 100% fruit smoothies. Clean store with spacious seating. The staff is great and their breakfast sandwiches are really good.

You can't go wrong with any of the food or drinks on the menu. The Horchata and coconut shrimp are amazing! This is my go-to spot!

Couldn't be prouder of these guys. There's a real boutique, curated-from-the-heart menu & neighborhood feel to this "café of cafés"! #5star

Wait 'til you step in here after all's said n' done. So far, so great. But they'll soon redefine what cafés supposed to feel, look and taste like. Mark my words. Crown Heights needed this. This is "regentrification" at its best! Incredible empanadas, lattes, seamoss-based smoothies, chimi-burgers, and hand-poured espressos? Quite int'l, a neighborhood gem, friendly & classy, I love it when a café also can blend a tasty frappé. Protein avocado toast too? Maaaaan, listen...

Went on a Friday with no reservations. They were super kind and fast with service. I came in hungry and order a ton - I had the tostone rellenos and ensalado del puerto. They hit! The tostone was creative, elegant and best bite of the evening. The salad had so much veggies and was very fresh the dressing it comes with is vibrant and lime-y. Great start to a meal. I had Churrasco which came with yellow rice and black beans. It was incredible, and I always get a tad scared with skirt steaks being overcooked but it was the perfect medium with grilled marks. The chimichurri was great too. I am nit-picking here but a little more salt and pepper on everything would of been great. Don't come with out having the sangria, they pack a punch!

The steak in the sandwich was so flavorful, and the empanada was also delicious. The empanada paired well with the green sauce it came with, and the waiter who delivered the empanada asked if I would like some hot sauce too. I could not pick a favorite between the two things I got. The guy working the high tops was very nice and was the one who recommended the sandwich to me. I will definitely be back to try more dishes here.

That set the tone of attentive service, which continued throughout an exceptional meal in Bath Beach. This area is busy, in a locals doing their thing kind of way. It's a real neighborhood, and La Chacra is a great reason to check it out. We initially had decided on ordering the Combo La Chacra, which consists of a whole rotisserie chicken, yellow rice with red beans, an avocado salad, an order of salchipapas, and an order of maduros. We added an extra half chicken, and thought "that's a wrap". However, there was an appetizer special of thinly sliced octopus prepared Peruvian style that needed to be ordered too. The service was excellent. Not overwhelming, but just right. Dishes were cleared, napkins replaced, straw wrappers taken away as soon as they hit the table. It's not something that I'm used to writing about, but needed to be said. And then, the food. It was outstanding. Compared to both the basic, and the high end Peruvian restaurants that I've been to throughout the city, La Chacra is far and away the best. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and felt intentional. Nothing was just thrown on a plate. As full as we were, and we were quite full, there was no way that we were leaving without trying something from the desert menu. Another wise choice, as both the flan and the tres leche cake were fantastic. To wrap this one up, this spot is a solid five stars. The prices are very reasonable and the food, service, and charming atmosphere will have us returning soon.
