Great lunch spot in Dumbo. The Spanish food is delicious. Specials differ daily so make sure to check their menu for offerings. Their rotisserie chicken is amazing and a very popular item. You can get some chicken with rice and beans for $10, which is a deal in this neighborhood. If you come around the lunch hour rush around 12pm, expect there to be a line but it does go quick. The line gives me anxiety. Place is very popular with construction workers around here. Only complaint I would have and I know many people have complained about is their lack of pricing transparency. You never know what they'll charge you sometimes. You add plantains then suddenly your meal costs extra $1 or 2. I've gotten the same thing several times but got charged different pricing. The food looked good but the issue is price gouging. The stew chicken with rice (Moro) the man said $9. I asked him to put two pieces of broccoli - he didn't say it was extra. The food is exquisite five stars to the chef! The counter staff...NOT SO MUCH!!! Their people skills are slim to none unfortunately. Today I ordered my breakfast to dine in as I do mostly everyday about 15 minutes go by no breakfast. I ask the counter girl that I ordered from where was my breakfast. No one knows & she goes to ask the chef. Turns out my food is stuffed in a small bag sitting on the counter. My oatmeal was cold & the sandwich was damp and runny. A little gem on the edge of DUMBO & Vinegar Hill. They have a mix of Spanish, Dominican, American and Italian food. The best offerings are the daily specials set up as a hot bar and their breakfast. They have the best breakfast sandwiches in the area and the specials include delicious offerings like baked chicken, oxtail stew and perfect rice and beans. If you stray from their specialties, you're going to be disappointed, and served less than average dishes. And if you think this might be a cheap eatery, it's not. You're paying prime Brooklyn prices, and it doesn't quite match up to quality. It's disappointing that they have increased their menu prices by about 100% over the past few years. read more

I'm hesitant to write this review because this little shop is my neighborhood gem, but we love Bridge Coffee Shop and it's time to share. As you may have seen through photos and pics, Bridge Coffee Shop is not really a coffee shop. Sure, they serve coffee, but it's more of a breakfast/brunch/lunch diner. They've got a full menu of diner-breakfasty items such as pancakes, eggs, omelets, etc... but they also have a large display case of ready-made Spanish foods that are always delicious. Prices are quite low for the neighborhood, and the food is always great. My wife and I come a few times a month, usually for a late breakfast on Saturdays and walk out full with a bill of less than $20. We usually get a couple of lunch plates when we go, which consists of rice, beans and a meat of some sort. The roasted pork is excellent and juicy, the chicken legs are huge and come with flavorful thighs, the chicken and beef stews are also quite flavorful and loaded with gravy. I've had their broiled salmon and each fillet is massive in size, juicy, and cooked well for a joint that doesn't specialize in seafood. My only gripe is that, being a diner with its roots in Spanish cuisine, it's pretty tough to get something green here. Most days they will have a small tub of steamed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, corn) but that's it. Looking for a salad? Go someplace else. This joint is a hold out from when the neighborhood used to be industrial, but with more and more DUMBO/Vinegar hill luxury condos and apartments coming every day, I'm hoping this place will be able to maintain their spot on the corner. Hopefully they own their building. Pro Tip: Closed on Sundays. read more

There is exposed brick and comfortable seating. There are tables each accompanied by four chairs. I think I saw about 5 to 7 tables by estimation. There is also a bathroom if you need. I sense the clientele comprises of working class and middle class people who work and want an affordable meal in Vinegar Hill/DUMBO area. I would say that I enjoyed my seafood soup. It was full of crab legs, big pieces of fish, rice cooked down to a porridge, red peppers, potatoes, shrimps. What was more awesome about it was that it was chock full of flavor. My only wish was that it had more mussels (minus one star). This place seems a bit dark, yet thoroughly air conditioned unlike its popular neighborhood competition. My hubby ordered the codfish and a side of vegetables. Veggies consisted of broccoli and carrot. Both of the meals were heavenly. I want to come back to try the meat platters. I saw some delicious pork and succulent beef and flavorful chicken. The portion size here is large. Come armed with an appetite. I went during lunch and ordered yellow rice with red beans and beef. The beef was sooo tender and it was served with potatoes and carrots in a gravy. The yellow rice was very good! Although they do offer your standard American fare, the real reason to eat at Bridge Coffee Shop is not because they serve pastries or coffee, but really it's their Cuban food. My favorite is their pernil and their half chicken special is hard to beat. Large hearty portions without crazy high prices. Definitely a winning combination in my book. I grew up in the neighborhood and this was a place myself and neighbors ordered from on daily basis. HOWEVER, now that area has had GENTRIFICATION recent years the customer service here is HORRIBLE. I personally experienced the staff catering + prioritizing the "new" residents in area before everyone else. I personally stood and waited to place and order this am when another gentlemen of Caucasian decent came a few minutes after. The young woman took my order then his (very similar) However, not only did they make his food first and completely disregarded my order but the cashier had to actually reiterate my order to cook because they were so focused on getting this mans order done and him out at ease and rather had me wait although I ordered and entered establishment first. When I addressed the manager he made a very condescending gesture and told me No they don't do that although it was extremely evident. My complaint is the extraordinarily odd hours they keep. Coffee is very weak too, so steer clear there.
