In order to provide proof of the results of myself and two other dog owners whose dogs were groomed late summer 2023 by Canon carousel in Herndon I am providing photographs of two dogs that were damaged at that dog salon. Initially I thought these guys provided exceptional haircuts but their bedside manner isn't the best. He's pictures show that myself, and another dog owner as well as a neighbor's dog were all struck with loss of hair, itching, inflammation from what veterinarians are saying tested positive for fungus. Moreover, while the lady that grooms Shih tzus is absolutely fantastic and my Shih Tzu experience no problems my other dogs did and it's taken months to get everybody back on track. What's worse is that these people don't take responsibility for the damage they caused and they're not exactly the most polite people when you're in the shop. The American Miki was fat shamed and clearly not treated equitably as seen by her hair regrowth which is caused tremendous stress for the family. In the photograph provided you can see her hair is finally returning but her body remains inflamed because of the systemic response she had to the fungus. None of us are returning so that's just five less dogs which means nothing to probably these guys since they treat us all like we're disposable anyway. read more

After being turned away from several pet groomers who wanted to tranquilize my reactive 5 lb senior dog, Canine Carousel was willing to work with me to get him bathed and groomed. I suggested a muzzle for his nail trim and then Chrissy, his groomer, went very slowly and gently with him to ensure he felt comfortable at every step. She was able to fully groom him. He came out looking and feeling like a new dog. It was great to find a pet salon that truly cares about the dogs and treats them as if they were part of the family. Blu has had a few bad experiences with groomers in New York but at canine carousel, he feels like he's at home. I made an appointment 2 weeks in advance. I got a late afternoon appointment as there were no weekend appointments available. I took off work. I went home to get my dog. I went to canine carousel and told the woman behind the counter that I had a 330 appointment. Another woman who was standing there said "that's not possible the groomers have all gone for the day." The woman behind the counter asked me if I had the right location. I said I am sure that I did that was about the extent of the conversation. Neither one of them looked up at me. neither one of them apologized. They turned to help another customer. They didn't even say anything as I was walking out. This was my first appointment with them and the last. Horrible customer service! 3/28/19 Response to owners comment below: Still not apologizing are you? I was standing there a LONG time. It is a tiny shop. I'm sure (if you had ever looked up at me) that you saw me walking out. A friend of ours recommended Canine Carousel. I looked at their website and was impressed with the photographs. Their Saturday hours fit in with our schedule, so I called to make an appointment. I was told they had two drop off times. We could either come in first thing in the morning and pick up by 2 o'clock, or come in later in the morning and pick up by five. We chose the second option because it fit in with our schedule. My wife dropped our dog off around 10:30. Our son was receiving an award at our church that afternoon and our plan was to attend the ceremony which was to finish around 4 o'clock and then come back and pick up the dog. We received a phone call around 2:30 saying that he was ready and they were closing early because they weren't busy, so we had to come pick up the dog by 3:00. So I had to miss my son getting the award, which was very upsetting both to me and to him. I don't understand how you can just arbitrarily decide to change your hours in the middle of the day. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's been frustrated by this, but as a result we will not be returning nor will we be recommending this business to anybody. Very disappointing. read more

I have to tell you that this place is an amazing. We originally had a appointment yesterday with g Petsmart but they said that they could not finish her haircut because she was too much to handle and biting the brush(playing) keep in mind she never got her hair cut before and is a 11 month old puppy. So we got a half of a haircut and even had to pay $60 for a unfinished job. So I picked up the phone and called these guys. Not only did they take me last minute but exceed our expectations. I think the groomers at the Ashburn location were quicker. They did a good job at grooming my dogs, but I'm just not a fan of leaving my dog at the groomers for more than 4 hours. Maybe my expectations are too high or I'm being unreasonable, but I just don't find that time frame acceptable. If you don't mind leaving your dog at the groomer for several hours, Canine Carousel will do a good job. They'll listen to your concerns and be mindful of what you want for your pet. If they have a question about something, they don't hesitate to call and ask. The staff is very kind and my pets did not leave there acting like they were mistreated. read more

This is THE BEST pet groomer ever! I've been using them for my Maltese, Bella Rose, for the past 11-years. I've even received beautiful photos of her "hairdo" when she's ready to be picked up! A definite 5-star treatment for pets and owners. You can tell that they love animals as you always see the owners dogs in the salon... beautifully groomed and so well behaved. I have a Sheltie whose name is Tyson. that we normally take to the Ashburn location for about 4 years. However, Ashburn was booked for for next 5 days, and Herndon had an opening the next day. The person who answered the phone on 6/27/19 was very nice and knowledgeable.I have had some VERY bad experiences with other groomers (big chain starts with "P"), so I was very cautious. Took my Sheltie on 6/29/2019 and was greeted by an older lady. She answered all my questions and took interest in my concerns such as our dog does not like blow dryers (but can be hit or miss). Also, she showed me pics of other dogs to determine what kind of cut to get. I dropped my dog off at 9:15AM, and was told my dog is last to be groomed because he was dropped off so late. WTH? I was told to drop off between 8:30 and 9:30 on the phone and I did just that. I was somewhat in a time crunch as I needed the dog to be ready by 4PM which I communicated at drop off. I decided to drop in at 3:15 and guess what the dog is ready! I was thinking to myself could you have NOT called me to let me know my dog is ready? Common courtesy hello? I took 3 stars off for the following reasons: 1) We have took our dog to Ashburn location 4 years and the price is $90-95 (which is VERY expensive IMO). Our visit today was a mind blasting....$126 for perhaps a total of 2 hours of ACTUAL work. A $36 increase is substantial. I was in such a bind because we had a family gathering that night, so I did not want to have a dirty un-groomed dog. So I had no choice, but if there was not a family gathering I would have left this place. 2) When I told the owner / older lady that Ashburn charges $95, she told me "their store is much larger, and they tend to miss the dead hair". What bothered me the most was she said" You can go to the Ashburn location if you want" I would have left after hearing the price and her little comment, but as is stated above I was in a pinch and had guests coming over in a matter of hours and did not want to have a un groomed dog. This place is a massive rip off. $126 for a wash and cut is insane and $36 more than Ashburn. I thought the Ashburn location was a rip off which it is, but this is even worse highway robbery. I am retaining 2 stars for: 1) getting me in 48 hours from when I called 2) the receptionist was nice when I booked the appointment 3) The quality of work was a 3.0 out of 5. They could have sprayed some perfume given the price point. He was cut and washed decent but nothing to brag about. read more

My mom's 12 yrs old Bichon Frise, Bruno, has been a client for about 4 years now at CC after having had several less than favorable experiences with other groomers in the DC Metro area. A couple were clueless as to how to groom a Bichon. We were referred to Canine Carousel by chance by a former neighbor who also had a Bichon who swore by them. Lil, Allison and Kristi have all groomed him over the years, and each time he looks fantastic (even on the few occasions when there have unfortunately been mats and he's needed to be either de-matted or shaved to remove them). It's gotten so that he actually seems to enjoy coming in!! They all listen to exactly what you want, and provide expert advice/suggestions. Lil and all her staff are all beyond kind, compassionate, caring people who are also consummate professionals (with the credentials to back it up) who clearly love animals and are experts in the art of grooming. Their pricing is always fair in light of the excellent services they provide. Scheduling is simple, and a reminder call is given the day before appointment. Typically, I'll receive a call within 3 hours max that he's ready for pick-up, and Lil time permitting texts a preview pic (see photo) when she's finished which is super sweet. Note: I make the hike from Bruno's home in Alexandria to Herndon just because Canine Carousel is so special and feel like family. Will continue to be clients!!! read more

I was there this morning and the lady on the phone sat there and for 15 minutes never acknowledged my presence... she was busy scheduling appointments. I took a card and left, I called the number a few minutes later to book my appointment and the lady answered and put me on hold, she said she was waiting on her computer to start up, the same computer I saw her working on when I was there. Do NOT take your dog here. I stopped in to see if I could find a collar for my dog. There is a big window where you can see the groomers work. Only one woman was there. She was trying to take a picture of the dog on the table, and he fell off backwards. She picked him up, put him back on the table and tried again. He fell off again. It must be at least two feet to the floor. I couldn't believe it, and I left because I didn't want to watch anymore. When I told a friend who takes his dog there, he said it was probably the owner because she sends him pictures of his dog. I would never subject my dog to such treatment. I just hope the little guy was okay. He looked kind of older and I'm sure that continuously falling that distance was painful. read more

Caveat emptor. This grooming salon does an excellent job of bathing/trimming etc, and my Golden Retriever always looks amazing. The scheduling leaves a lot to be desired. I called for an appointment and booked for a Wednesday morning with a block of time to drop off. The first in/first out appointment arrangements was explained to me with a stress on getting my dog in early. The day of my appointment I arrived with my dog shortly after 8 AM. The woman behind the counter seemed scattered....couldn't find her phone...yelling questions to the groomers...etc. she takes my dog and tells me he would be ready between 10-12--great. I returned shortly before noon and my dog hadn't been touched. I'm told he would be ready between 2 and 3. I said I work and can't leave my office in the middle of the day--already taking a long lunch to get him now--and can they make it a little later? I'm told how about 4 and we'll call you when he's ready...I wait and wait and finally get a phone call at 4:30 saying my dog won't be ready for another hour! By the time I pick him up he will have been there 9 1/2 hours!!! Unacceptable. Here's the deal--even if you make an appointment and stick to your window, Canine Carousel doesn't stick to theirs. Why? Because if you pay "extra" you can bump those with regular appointments and jump ahead. My dog was repeatedly bumped and made to sit in a crate all day. CC is basically making you pay for a real appointment. Pffft. I won't return. Edited to add the "pass thru" appointment fee for a large dog is $30.00!!! read more

I was very pleased with customer service. The staff was very friendly and I felt comfortable leaving Cocoa there. We had a terrible experience at Petco so leaving her at the groomer is a little stressful for me, but at canine carousel I felt reassured. They did a great job on the grooming. This is the sweetest little spot in Herndon. I love the look and feel of the shop right as you enter... you know that is a good start! The staff have always been friendly and fit us in last minute when needed. They are not too highly expensive that it will cut deep but what you do pay is worth the value. My pups have been happy and well taken care of it from the looks of it. I have pups with bad joints and high maintenance temperaments - and they always seem genuine in their care efforts to manage them. My pups look great when they leave too! From start to finish I've never had a bad feeling or poor experience. I'll continue taking them here for sure. read more

went twice. first time, I didn't give instruction and wasn't happy how my little one's tail was trimmed--blotchy. The second time, I specifically asked for the tail to not be cut (trying to grow out the cut from before). Picked up my girl to find that not only was the original part of the tail shaved down (again), but the top of the tail was also shaved down. I was very disappointed with the service. As someone previously mentioned, we had an issue where we had a scheduled appointment for a bath but it ended up taking hours because other dogs were given priority. Additionally, one time we picked her up and was told she had chewed up and destroyed her leash- fine, things happen, and a note was put in her file that she's a chewer. However, last time we got her home only to realize her new leash was chewed again. Frustrated, we called and they told us to come in and they would replace it with a comparable leash, but when we got there they only had 3 options and all cost about half of what her leash cost. We were told they would get a better one from their other location and call us back, but over a week later we have not received any word. Obviously we've gotten a replacement leash at this point and won't be going back- not worth it to pay for mediocre service and new leashes each time. read more

I have been a customer for quite a long time. My dog is very passive and easy to groom. We also take my daughters dogs who are younger and more energetic. My dog has always looked very good, although trimmed shorter than requested. My daughters dogs are not always as well groomed. I continued to use this grooming service because of a level of trust. This morning, I spent over an hour picking up dogs and getting to the groomers before 7:45 when they open, only to be told that they did not have me scheduled. People make mistakes and I can be pretty forgiving. But the girl implied that I had called the wrong store or (even worse) that I had spoken to the owner who messed it up. I was so upset that I went to the car and looked up the call in the phone log, waited until there no other customers waiting and marched back in to show her the time and date of the call. I suspect that she is the one who made the error. What infuriated me was the insincerity of her apology and the offer to do bath and a face clip instead of " let me see when we can get you in." I am willing to work with someone making an effort, but find the experience at the new location is not what I had grown used to. read more
